Thanks so much for posting these scenarios. Really helps a newbie get a start!
I finally figured out that the coupon inserts in the Sunday papers vary from city to city and so do the walgreen’s weekly ads. Do you know if the register rewards are also different? If it’s not specifically stated in the walgreen’s ad for THAT store…?

The RR deals are normally the same unless you get the short ad in your area. As long as you don’t get the short ad you should be good!

what are your ideas for fillers at 15 cents. I grab candy bar but they are alot more money. great list to use at walgreens .

If you are in FL we’ll have $.20 Jello. My store sometimes has $.13 seed packs and I’ve been finding lots of $.13 & $.17 clearance pantyhose. I love it when there’s a holiday and we have those $.13 bags, pencils and cups!

Oh geez. What’s the short ad??

Where is the Vocal point offered and would anyone know what issue I’d find the $1/1 Puffs coupon?

Thank you!

You would have to already have it, it would have been mailed to you. If you don’t have it just take it out of the scenario, since it’s FREE it should be ok. You can check out vocal point HERE. They offer lots of great stuff!

How would the Puffs be free w/out that $1 off coupon?

Thanks!

What I mean is that since it’s FREE in the scenario (with the coupon and the IVC) taking it out won’t really have much of an impact on the rest of the scenario.

If you don’t have the Vocalpoint coupon, do not buy the Puffs. It will not change anything since RR’s are not based upon this item and it is free + a penny. You may need to add one cent to your filler item if you are playing it very close.

For Scenario #2, I don’t have the B1G1 All You coupon, so will use three $4 coupons for the Nivea, so I won’t need any fillers, and can apply a $3 RR and will only pay $1.77 plus tax for 3 Body Washes and 2 Deodorants. I will still be able to follow this with only these modifications.

That’s exactly what I was trying to say about the Puffs. Thanks for doing a better job of explaining it! 🙂

Thanks for doing this site Christie! I collect items for our church food pantry and modify scenarios all the time. This week is PERFECT since I’m supposed to collect personal hygiene items. I’m so happy you set this one up…soap, deodorant, tweezers and thank you cards!!

My Walgreens yet again denied me the use of 3 coupons on 3 products because one coupon was a bogo… Even the manager said the same thing.

Christie May 2, 2010 at 3:55 pm

I can understand not accepting a coupon on the FREE item, my stores don’t allow that. But you are paying full price for one with the BOGO so if the coupon doesn’t exclude it, not being able to use a coupon on the one you are paying full price on makes no sense to me whatsoever. If you were buying something that was on a BOGO sale, again I could see why they wouldn’t accept a BOGO coupon. But neither situation applies here. You have 3 items and one coupon applies to each one. You are not using more than one coupon on each item. Is it the Nivea? If it is substitute another $4/1 for the BOGO and you’ll still come out ahead. And I hope they open another Walgreens near you soon!

Thanks, Christie. I love your scenarios and was really disappointed this morning. Luckily, I have other Wags to go to. I emailed Walgreens about it in hopes of receiving an explanation I can print out and show the next time!

ok. I am out of it. I screwed the tweezer deal up so bad. you would think I wouldn’t, cause it’s step by step and I am pretty smart. But I went in walgreens frazzled cause I was in a hurry (never shop when you are in a hurry!). I bought the $6.99 tweezers because I forgot which ones to buy and I didn’t see any other ones around. my total for 5 of those and 1 $6.49 tweezer, 39cent tape, and free deodorant was over $18! I knew the total wasn’t right, but HAD to get to work, so I left. went back today to do a return and get the cheaper ones, but my coupons are gone…so….after some confusion, the store manager credited me back $33! after returning the tweezers, I would have technically only spent 39 cents out of pocket (for the tape)I am not trying to cheat the system, and he even told me that he didn’t take off the coupons when he gave me the refund back…I felt so bad. but I live and learn.

Well it sounds like it all worked out in the end. The coupons are probably well way on their way to the clearinghouse so don’t feel bad. Yes, I have made the mistake of shopping in a hurry many times. In fact I thought about doing a run tonight but i knew I’d be rushing so I decided to wait till tomorrow and hope my Nivea is there!

Noticed that some of the Sure deordorants for women had stickers saying “try me free”. Thought I would send it off for the $2.99 rebate today. Since it was free with the $1.50 MQs and the In-ad Q, I believe this could be considered a Money Maker? Love your scenarios!!! Great Site.
