GREAT Deal on Veggies, Frosting & More!

by Christie Bisbee on April 17, 2011

I was SO excited to see a bunch of Walgreens coupons in my Smart Source insert today (more on that later).

My favorite so far has to be the coupon for the canned veggies and the baking goods. This is a Walgreens coupon that is good until May 14th. The best part is that it stacks with the in ad coupon we have this week for Green Giant Veggies or Betty Crocker Brownies! Plus since there is not a manufacturer coupon involved you can still use this as a filer! 🙂

If you got these in your insert, here are a couple of deals you can grab…

BUY
2 – Green Giant Veggies
-In ad Coupon (1113) Makes them $.49 EACH
Total = $.98
-$.50/2 Canned Vegetables or Baking Goods Wags Q (5096) 04-17-11 SS
= $.48 or $.24 EACH!

BUY
2 – Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies
– In ad Coupon (1106) Makes them $.89 EACH
Total = $1.78
-$.50/2 Canned Vegetables or Baking Goods Wags Q (5096) 04-17-11 SS
= $1.28 or $.64 EACH!

BUY
1- Betty Crocker Frosting
1 – Betty Crocker SuperMoist Cake Mix
-$1/2, .75/2 Betty Crocker SuperMoist Cake Mix AND Betty Crocker Ready to Spread Frosting, any – 04-03-11 SS x5/28
– In ad Coupon (1106) Makes Frosting $.89
– In ad Coupon (1103) Makes Frosting $1.50 EACH

Total = $1.39
-$.50/2 Canned Vegetables or Baking Goods Wags Q (5096) 04-17-11 SS
= $.89 for BOTH or $.45 EACH!

But in the fine print the coupon says “not valid with any other offer”, so how can we stack it with the in ad coupon?

Reply

Christie April 17, 2011 at 4:18 pm

They are just Walgreens IVC coupons.

Reply

ashley April 17, 2011 at 4:09 pm

can you use the ones from the paper multiple times, like the in-ad q’s?

Reply

ashley April 17, 2011 at 4:10 pm

meaning, you you have to give them to the cashier, or can they just scan them?

Reply

Christie April 17, 2011 at 4:15 pm

It’ll be up to the cashier but they don’t really need them. They are just Wags Qs. They can just put in the 4 digit code.

My inserts this week are so sad 🙁
No Nivea, not even this wags coupon

Susan April 17, 2011 at 5:14 pm

I always wonder why deals are listed and I never get these coupons! I had 4 inserts in my papers today and NONE of them had the Nivea or this Wags coupon in them! Makes me frustrated sometimes!

I feel your pain! I live in a rural area where our paper gets less than half of the coupons listed on these blogs. Today, I flew across country for a business trip and picked up papers in three different locations — three totally different sets of inserts. The one I picked up in Minneapolis even had a Target Q for $0.01 Carefree pantiliners (that’s actually what the coupon says) but I guess that was ultra regional because I don’t see it anywhere on the coupon blogs. Very frustrating!

Heather E. April 18, 2011 at 8:55 am

We rec’d the Target Carefree here in the Seattle-Tacoma area also!

I have the same problem so I order whole inserts now from places like Florida, New York, California, and some other places. I live in Washington state and neither of our major papers here got the coupons she mentions. I’ll have to track them down. Oh and coupon clipping services are not that bad to deal with. Just find one that is close to your home for faster shipping. Good luck ladies.

How do you purchase only inserts from different areas? Other than ebay or clipper services.

Reply

Tawnya April 18, 2011 at 12:45 pm

Hi Bridget. There are lot’s of places that you can order whole inserts from. One place I get mine from is wholecouponinserts.com They are in florida. They are uncut inserts. I like doing it this way because I usually save over buying papers. I also get couponing friends to jump in with there order so we save a bunch of money and save on shipping. Just Google whole coupon inserts and it will pop up a list. Also hotcouponworld.com will give you a list of people who sell whole inserts by which state so you can find one close to home. Good luck to you. If you have anymore questions feel free to email me at [email protected]

So can we use the in ad Q, the code 5096 for the .50 off baking goods, and a .50/1 manf Q? I would assume no because that’s 3 Qs….

Reply

Amanda April 17, 2011 at 5:48 pm

In Ad Q’s do not count toward your coupon to product ratio. You can use the In Ad Q, a Manufacturer Q and the $.50/2 Walgreens coupon

Reply

lisa ann April 17, 2011 at 6:21 pm

Hi friends, which city did you find the coupon in ? thanks, lisa

Reply

Amanda April 17, 2011 at 6:22 pm

Ours only came with 1 SS and 1 RP not the 2 like everyone else an no wags either….does the national papers carry the better coupons?

Reply

Victoria April 17, 2011 at 6:23 pm

My inserts don’t have this coupon or the Nivea. Grrrr!

Reply

mary mohle April 17, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Has anybody actually tried this yet? I’m skeptical that it will work because it seems like you are stacking 2 Wags coupons. Would love some feedback from somebody who tries it.

Walgreens Coupon Policy is

“When purchasing a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.”

So yes, you can use more than one Walgreen Coupon on a single item, as long as they have a different bar-code number.

Reply

Narsh April 18, 2011 at 12:36 am

It may be that there’s the letter “s” in parenthesis, but the coupon specifically states “can’t be combined with other offers.” Just because it doesn’t beep doesn’t make it OK.

Hi there. I did this yesterday with the vegetables and it worked fine. No beeps, no problems….finally!!

Reply

tiffany April 17, 2011 at 7:07 pm

what is MQ, IVC and wags? Thanks

Reply

Christie April 17, 2011 at 8:23 pm

Tiffany – Check out my Glossary HERE. MQ is a manufacturer coupon, IVC or Wags Q is an instant value coupon (just a walgreens coupon) and Wags Q is short for Walgreens coupon.

Reply

Brianna April 17, 2011 at 7:26 pm

Ok, will these scan the same way the in-ad coupons do….with no limit?? Like if I bought 20 of something it would still take off for all of them?

Reply

kellis April 17, 2011 at 7:31 pm

I have to say ladies I got 4 in mine X’s 2 papers and I got riped. I got more coupons out of the recycle bin then I did those 8 inserts what a disappointment:(

Christi April 17, 2011 at 7:56 pm

Ok guys I’m confused eI didn’t find a .50 coupon for green beans in either one of the inserts. Are we just supposed to be using the in store coupon and that will work to take the .50/2? If not will some one please explain what I’m not understanding.

Thank you for your time!

stacia April 17, 2011 at 7:59 pm

I just did it.
I got 6 brownie mixes
4 cans of corn
5 cans of green beans
I used 1113 and 1106 and 5096
looks like this at the end….
-8.08 wagc and
-3.50 mfgc and
-7.80 wagc

Reply

Betsy April 18, 2011 at 8:46 am

Did you just use the three coupons total? I know you only need one Wags in-ad coupon but what about the .50 wags coupon? Do you need multiple of those?

Reply

stacia April 18, 2011 at 11:03 am

I can just tell my WAGS the IVC codes. I didn’t have the “coupons” in hand. I could have though, because my inserts had the special walgreens page of coupons.

Christi April 17, 2011 at 8:12 pm

Stacia,

Where are you getting the coupons?

Thanks for your help!

Christi,

I found out at a couponing seminar that the coupon inserts can differ from newspaper to newspaper. The newspaper with the largest distribution in the state gets the largest/most inserts. For example, in Illinois the Chicago Tribune has the largest distribution, so that would be the Sunday paper to get.

However, in the last month, the Tribune has not included all the coupon inserts (no P&G last week, no RP this week). I live outside the delivery area (in Central Illinois), so it seems that even though local stores get the Trib, the number of inserts might vary as well. I haven’t checked if the number of coupons in the inserts match the Coupon Preview lists.

So, find out the newspaper in the largest city in your state. If you live near that city, check if you are in the delivery area. Some newspapers will let you subscribe to just the Sunday edition. Otherwise, check the stores for it (call first and ask if they carry it to save time). Some stores (especially grocery stores), put their Sunday editions in a different place than their daily editions, so if you know the store carries the paper but can’t find it, ask an employee.

Warning: some Sunday newspapers cost more outside of their delivery area. The Chicago Tribune is $1.99 in the Chicago area, but $3.00 elsewhere. CVS, however, only charges the $1.99 rate while Walgreens and other places I have purchased it have all been $3.00.

Hope this helps explain the crazy way they distribute the inserts. My local paper has so few coupons now, that if I didn’t already subscribe it wouldn’t be worth the price.

Francine

Hi Francine –

I get 3 chicago tribune delivered every sunday (I think I pay about $1 a week for all three) and mine have had all the inserts for quite some time…don’t think I’ve missed one. Maybe someone went through the inserts in the store you were buying from and took them? Or maybe you need home delivery in order to guarantee inserts.

I have a question…which do I give first, the in ad or the walgreens q that was in the SS? Thanks 🙂

Reply

Christie April 18, 2011 at 12:43 am

I’d do the one that makes them $.49 first, and then the one from the SS.

Hi, If we want to get say 12 cans of veggies, can we just hand over the two coupons? or do we have to have 12 sets of 2 coupons to make this work?

Reply

Christie April 18, 2011 at 1:27 am

Normally with Wags Qs you would just need (2) coupons.

Norma April 18, 2011 at 1:37 am

Christie,
I am so bummed because I did not receive the wag coupons.. :(. Would I be able to give my cashier the code or is a physical coupon needed? Please advice…
Thanks!

Tawnya April 18, 2011 at 5:22 am

Christie or anyone who did get these coupons. What area of the country are you in? I could possibly pick them up from a clipper service. Also…since the code is posted here can we just give that to the cashier to get our discount or do we have to present the coupon?

Thanks everyone.

I am in Florida. You can try giving the code to your cashier, it’ll just depend if the code is in their system, if it is, you really don’t even need the coupon! 🙂

Since the SS IVC coupon also includes Gold Medal flour, I plan on getting 2-5lb packages for only $2.50.

2 Gold Medal Flour = $1.50 with in-ad coupon #1103, #5096 takes off add’l $0.50.

Thanks for the heads up, Christie!

Went to wags today to get the vegetable deal. It works.

I bought 6 can corn in one transaction
handed over 1 store coupon making them .49 cents each (-6.06)
then handed 1 over coupon from sunday paper for .50 off 2 (-1.50) Total came to .25 each.
I cant wait to go back. If they run out, ill get a rain check at this price. I have plenty wags in my area of FL.

Louis April 18, 2011 at 8:53 pm

Hi, my in ad coupon says Limit 3 on the canned vegetables, except in ID or NM. Is that what everyone’s in ad coupon says?

Thanks
