So I went to Walgreens today with my “scenario” list and coupons, and asked if I could do multiple transactions, and was told no, that it was illegal to do multiple transactions to make money. Argh. I’m not making money, just maximizing the use of my coupons. She even said I couldn’t come back in a half hour and do another transaction. Last time I go to that Walgreens.

Reach Total Care Floss 30 yds., Toothbrush $2 OFF (w/in ad Q) Limit of 3

Is it $2 off per item? or $2 off total? Thanks!

Hi Joy – With the Walgreens coupons if it’s $2 off, it’ll take $2 off of each item. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Barb- WHAT! It’s illegal?! LOL. That’s a new one! I don’t think I’ve ever hear that one before! I’d stay clear from that store or that cashier. I’d probably call corporate about that one. People do separate transactions ALL the time, for MANY reasons. I frequently do separate transactions for reasons other than coupons (buying something for someone else, buying something for the office, buying something for a rebate, etc.). If buying stuff is illegal maybe they should close down the store, since they are participating in illegal activities. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Jennie January 8, 2011 at 3:51 pm

Barb sorry to hear that! Many Walgreens allows you to do multiple transaction, some even as many as you like! it is though to your courtesy to stop when you just know its too much.

You should try a different Walgreens, i have 2 near by both allows me to do multiple but i got my favorite! lol!

Goodluck

Is it true that I can’t use B1G1 coupon along with $x.x Q for the item that I’m not getting free? I want to do Stayfree deal but not sure if cashier will accept both Q. Thx

If I use 1 BOGO coupon for the Kellogg’s cereal, will I still get the $2RR? TIA!

Reply

Christie January 8, 2011 at 5:34 pm

Mary – Yes, you should still get the $2 RR. ๐Ÿ™‚

When I do the math on the StayFree pads with the coupons you have listed I’m getting an .51 overage and not a .02, I just wanna see if my math is wrong before I go to the store in the morning.

Barb – Remember, you are trying to buy product that the store has….this is why they are on business!!!!! I would talk to a manager…that is beyond stupid what they said to you. I have a wags that lets me order product (as long as I buy it) and they know I make money. The other week, I did 50 transactions. Be persistent on this, you will “win” b/c it is the stores interest that you do = it’s their entire business!

i hope someone can help me- i am not new to couponing (i am somewhat of a crazy couponer at publix) but not at walgreens. last week i tried to do the oscilloonium on 3 different occasions and the stores around me wouldn’t take the coupon. ugh! so, i try again this week with the reach. if i buy 4 toothbrushes, how can i use 2 B1G1 coupons and 2 $2 off coupons. am i using a coupon on the buy 1 not free item. is this going to beep? i am going to follow the scenario but i want to make sure i get it before going. thanks!

Reply

Christie January 8, 2011 at 11:10 pm

Sandi – The coupon that beeped for you was coded wrong. It was the fault of the MQ. For the TB you are buying (4) 2 at full price, getting 2 free with the B1G1. So the $2/2 (which you are only using 1 of NOT 2 of) is applying to the ones you pay full price for. Then the wags coupon will take the $2 off for each item. Hope that helps! (I’ll admit I’m a crazy couponer at Publix too!)

Reply

sandi January 9, 2011 at 7:12 am

Ok thanks Christie- wish me luck today! I have tried to shop at Wags about 5 times in the last year and each time I walk away totally confused and frustrated. I am hoping the TB and Floss deal will change my mind…

Reply

sandi January 9, 2011 at 1:34 pm

Another horrible Walgreens day…I am really finished with them. I appreciate all of your work, but I am going to stick to publix. They wouldn’t let me use the $2/2 coupon with the B1G1 at first- finally the manager allowed me to, but then the computer kept beeping with the Wags coupon for the Reach TB. He said he had to scan that in first, then used all my coupons and my total was $3 and change for the 4 toothbrushes- forget it! I asked him if he could do my coupons then the Wags coupon and try it again- nope ๐Ÿ™
I left with nothing- ugh, so frustrating!

Reply

Christie January 9, 2011 at 1:42 pm

Sandi – I’m so sorry your manager was so difficult. Does the “nope” mean he wouldn’t let you try it again with the MQ first or it beeped for you?

Reply

sandi January 9, 2011 at 1:58 pm

He wouldn’t do my coupons and then the Wags coupon- he said that isn’t the way it is done.

Reply

Christie January 9, 2011 at 2:05 pm

Sandi – Honestly, if you have another store I’d try there (maybe after a break when you feel up to it). I’m sorry you just got a bad manager.

Reply

sandi January 9, 2011 at 2:08 pm

I will try then- I am determined to make Wags work! Thanks, I will let you know ๐Ÿ™‚

I tried doing the Sinex deal the other day and it didn’t print a RR. I told them I wanted to return it and the manager said I couldn’t return them because I used coupons. I waited there without saying a word because I couldn’t believe what I was hearing- finally she said she could put the return on a W card but couldn’t credit the card I used. Have you ever had problems with returns? I’m fine with a W card because I shop there frequently but the whole thing was really weird!

I am confused as to how the Stayfree will work when the coupon says “up to $6” and the items are $6.49. I’m not even a newbie, just don’t know how this will pan out. TIA!

Reply

Christie January 10, 2011 at 1:20 am

dbaks – They’ll just put in $6 instead of $6.49 as the maximum on the coupon. So $12.98 – $6 B1G1 – $1/1 = $5.98, Then give the in ad Q – $6 = $.02 Money Maker!

Benita January 10, 2011 at 12:16 am

Walgreens can be very frustrating! I’ve left there many many times not getting what I wanted or expected. Sometimes you will get a great cashier and the items will actually be in stock. I can’t tell you the number of times my whole trip got messed up because something wasn’t in stock (with RR which I would then use on the next transactions) or the cashiers seemed like they simply did not want you to get a good deal. I had one the other day who thought it was sufficient to apologize that the register rewards weren’t printing out and the he “couldn’t make it print, sorry”. Lucky I was persistent because after a minute of standing there inquiring, another cashier let him know that that particular catalina machine was not printing, so she did it for me on their other one. I, too, have considered never shopping there again, way too frustrating especially for someone like me who’s not good with couponing or figuring out the deals very well….and often have kids in tow. My last trip the cashier became very rude with me when it was clearly not me in the wrong, she didn’t even say “thank you” at the end and when I apologized for her troubles, she said nothing and didn’t even look at me….way to treat your customers, Walgreens.

Reply

Jennifer January 10, 2011 at 2:23 am

Just so all of u guys who are having trouble with the cashiers not taking some coupons… the coupon policy is new to Walgreens, and a lot of the cashiers don’t know about it, (I work for Walgreens) The last store I worked in, my store manager didn’t even know about it… I had to tell him, because he was refusing to mark a coupon down for a customer. For a long time, it has been very unclear to them what the policy was supposed to be, and it kind of just went by the managers discretion. SO, it would be a good idea to print it out, and calmly tell the manager about it.
I hope that those of you who have had trouble don’t get a bad taste in your mouth for Walgreens, because I have worked in PLENTY of stores across the country, and trust me, there are good and bad ones. Just depends on the employees working there. I have been lucky enough to work with some of the best! If you have an issue, please, don’t let it make your opinion of walgreens as a company, but rather of the person you are dealing with, and be sure to bring the issue to the attention of the manager, or call the corporate office if you are not comfortable with that! I Love working for them, and helping all of my customers! Especially coupon fanatics like me!! It’s fun to share in on the excitement, and to see how much you save!

Jennifer January 10, 2011 at 2:29 am

Oh, just so u all know, I am going to write a letter to our CEO, to inform him of the issues we are having. As an employee, I just feel like we need more consistency across the company when it comes to these issues. I think they need to make sure that all of the employees are aware that this new policy exists, and understand how to use it!

Just for an FYI the Mini Wheats and Raisin Bran Crunch are also included in the cereal deal. In case you have the $1.00 Mini Wheats or .70 Raisin Bran coupons from Last month. That makes the Mini Wheats .50 per box and the Raisin Bran Crunch .80 per box. A great price on this cereal and great alternative if your store is out of Special K!

Reply

Drew January 10, 2011 at 4:27 pm

Bethany, I don’t know how much you paid for your Sinex after coupons, but I only let people return coupon items for the price after coupons (since we do not give cash back for coupons), exchange for the full value of the items, or if it happened that day I can void their whole transaction and give them their coupons back with their money. This is not to punish honest customers when things aren’t working right….it’s to keep people from coming in and buying everything they have coupons for and returning it to make money. (Sadly, people try to do this…you would be surprised.)

i had problems with the stayfree deal. the BYGO says 14-24 ct and the $3 off store coupon is for 28-48 count. Is it still suppose to work? My cashier read the coupon and wouldnt accept it.

Reply

Christie January 10, 2011 at 5:22 pm

Hi Amanda – Was your B1G1 the printable one? Those are for the smaller size, the one from the paper is good for the larger sizes.

Reply

Sabrina January 10, 2011 at 6:16 pm

Drew – Walgreens gets paid cash for the manufacturer coupons, so you should refund the money to the person.

Reply

Jennifer January 11, 2011 at 2:01 am

Drew… I used to only give back the amount after coupons also, because I was told this was the way you are supposed to do it… I have since been informed, that you are supposed to give back the full amount, because we will still get the money from the manufacturer. You might want to check into it further. ๐Ÿ™‚

I tried to buy the Reach TB today and the in ad coupon didn’t work on them. Make sure you watch – that threw my scenario off and the cashier was nice enough to take time to figure it out and void the transaction. She ended up price modifying the TB for me, so I got them free with my coupons! Love my wags!

I purchased the Tylenol Precise Cream (along with a knee-hi for a filler) today using a $3.00 Wag’s cat and the $3.00 Nivea RR. It worked, but the $3 RR did not print. The cashier called an assistant mgr who refunded everything, but told me it’s because I used a coupon (that I did not get the RR). I pointed to the ad that said “coupon savings in most Sunday papers”…she said that meant the Wags ad that comes in the Sunday paper. I said no more. Does anyone know why I didn’t get the RR?

Reply

Christie January 11, 2011 at 8:53 pm

Sheila – I’m pretty sure that the Wags Cat was coded just like the $3 RR for Tylenol so when you used it on the Tylenol, it thought you were using a RR from another Tylenol purchase. That’s pretty funny your cashiers answer though. LOL. No point in arguing with that one!

Reply

Drew January 11, 2011 at 10:13 pm

Jennifer, idk if you are a manager or not, but if you are then you know that the register will say something about the amount exceeding the transaction if you try to refund someone more than they paid. Yes, WAG still gets the money for manufacturer coupons, but WAG doesn’t have people come in and use coupons and then do refunds just to make money. I also don’t know what area you are in, but if we refunded people for coupons, we would have people come in ALL THE TIME just to use coupons & turn right around and return the items to make money off of it.

Btw, I didn’t post to start an argument or anything. I’m a big couponer myself & enjoy reading these kind of blogs and getting good deals. These blogs also help me help my customers. I just wanted to point out some options when register rewards don’t print, & reasons why my store (and lots of others) don’t give money back for coupons.

I just went to Walgreens and had a hard time (again) with the coupons. But the Biore face wash was on sale for $4.19 and with the $2/1 coupon came out to $2.19 each with two = $4.38 and I got back a $5 RR so it was a $.62 money maker!! Then the Rembrandt 2 hour whitening kit with is normally $23.99 has a Wags in store coupon for $9.99 and I used a $5 off manu.Q with comes out to $4.99 but I got a $3 RR good on any Rembrandt product so it turned out to be $.99 for a $24 whitening system!! Also make sure you use the B1G1 Q from the 1/9 SS not the printable one because that one only gives you up to $3 which would be the 24 ct package not the 28 ct package that the in-ad Wags Q $3 off. Hope this helps.

Jamell January 13, 2011 at 2:11 am

Also the register I was in was not printing the RR! I had to call a manager and she had to refund all the items and do it on another register! Then I did one RR item at a time and got back $15 worth of RR so it was very worth it! Thankfully the manager was nice and patient!
