Inconsistency here:

Ricola Drops 19 to 24 ct. $1
-$.50 OFF Ricola Cough Drops, 50ct (5323) Sept Coupon Book
= JUST $.50 EACH!

Coupon says 50ct…ad says 19 to 24 ct????

Reply

Christie September 18, 2010 at 10:39 am

Hi Stephen – Did you notice the “$1 – $.50 in store coupon = $.50 each” underneath it in the ad? My guess is that that is not a different in store coupon in addition to the one in the Sept. coupon book.

If it’s not programmed to work with the coupon in the Sept. book and they screwed up they’ll have to come up with another way to honor the price since it’s in the ad. Maybe just price modify to $.50.

I just pulled the coupon. The sept coupon says 19 to 24 ct…

Perhaps you should change the red letters for the blog?

Stephen – I just went through my book again. There are (2) coupons for the Ricola, one for the 19-24ct and one for the 50ct. So all is good. 🙂 Mystery of the Ricola solved. Thanks!

Hi Christie ~~ A question about how the B1G1 coupons work. (I’m looking at the Oral-B toothbrushes deal starting on 09/19).

It appears to me that when a store has an item on “special” you can use a B1G1 coupon for that item (lets say item #2) And Additionally you can also use a manufacturers coupon on the item that you are buying as well (lets say item #1). So on the toothbrushes deal on the RR for the 19th you can use a B1G1 Q and also use a Q (I have the $0.75 off from 08/29) of the toothbrush that I am actually buying.

And then the deal is even better at WAGS this week b/c of the RR that you get back. Am I understanding how this works correctly? If not can you set me straight? In Summary … So on a B1G1 deal (whether you have a Q or whether its the store weekly special) you can also use a manufacturers Q on the item that you are purchasing.

Thanks for all the work you do. Great Job!! Love, love, love this website!!

Hi!
I’m just wondering..for the Revlon Rebate do I need to hit $30 after the 40% discount price or before?
For example

Revlon Super Lustrous Lilac Pastelle Lip Gloss Regular price is $6.99 with the 40% off becomes $4.19.
So do I need to buy 8 of them ($32.52) or only 5 of them (34.95)to qualify for the rebate? Of course I’m not going to buy 5 of the same products 😛
Thank you for your time 🙂

For B1G1 coupons you can also use another MQ to discount the item you are buying. For B1G1 sales in the store you can actually use 2 MQ–one to discount each item.

The Campbell’s couon excludes Great for cooking soups – My cans of Cream of Ck and Mush both say Great for cooking on them so the coupon seems to be invalid.

Reply

Stephen September 18, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Condensed soups have three versions (at least for campbells).

“Great for Cooking” is a brand name of campbells
Condensed soups includes “Great for Cooking”; chicken noodle and tomato; and other condensed soups not labelled “Great for Cooking” but labelled condensed soups.

Hi Melissa! Thanks for your response. So this leads me to a 2nd question … You said “for B1G1 sales in the store you can actually use 2 MQ — one to discount each item”.

Question

UGH — I don’t know how the editor works on this software but it cut me off after I quoted a previous comment (see comment #13 above).

Melissa, Here is the question that I have: How do the stores give you an additional “discount” from the additional MQ if the item already qualifies as free (as a result of the B1G1 store deal)? I hope this question makes sense. Very difficult to discuss via this technology. Any help U can give is much appreciated.

Do they give the additional amount (from 2nd MQ) off of the total regardless of the fact that you were getting the item for free?

Leslie September 18, 2010 at 4:15 pm

Do you know what the limit on the gain dish washing detergent will be per coupon? I have multiple MQs and I hope not to have to make too many transactions.

thanks!

For the BOGO stuff….
Like this week, the Schick Inutitions were Buy 1 get one free.
They ring up like this:
Schick 9.99 BGLP (buy one get one for a lower price)
Schick 9.99 BGLP
then after the total button is hit 9.99-FREE comes off.
I then used 2 $4 off coupons, getting 2 razors for $2.

Good Bye Walgreens it is has been fun….ugh!!! I used to love Walgreens but today once again they gave me a hard time and Pat (the rudest casher in the world) was rude once again…I try to shop at Walgreens when Vickey (the best cashier ever!!!) is working she is awesome but because of doctor appointments, etc., this week I could not get there on the days she works so I took a chance today and immediately when I walked to the counter Pat got an attitude and refused my printed coupons because the computer would not take ($8 Dulcolax & $2 Impruv) there were totally legit but she flat refused….I am tired of her being rude and management doing nothing about it all of my coupon buddies have complained even to corporate and nothing has been done…she also told me that they had to scan all Walgreen coupons first – there is nothing in the coupon policy that states what order the coupons have to do…does anyone have any advice on what to do? unfortunately the closet Walgreens is like 40 minutes away I just can’t get to that one….I wanted to do to the 3-Dulcolax deal but they flat refused I even had plenty to cover the overage but they said they could allow me to get anything for free even though I had enough to soak up the overage..URRRRRR!!!!!!!! they treated like I was stealing…I help teach classes where I live about how to coupon what is right what is wrong….Thanks for letting me vent any suggestions would be GREAT!!! BTW, Pat told my neighbor the other day when he walked up to check out with his coupons she called the manager and refused to check him out because she stated “I hate coupons” why do they keep people like that???

Just left wags not a happy camper. Did not get my rr for the John Frieda – Fought with the lady she said her mgr was not in. The sign were up she said it was because I used coupons is this new? Or have I just been crapper on again.

Wow Pam. I thought I was the only one that dealt with mean cashiers at Walgreens. I sometimes feel one of the casheirs in my area give me “the look” when I walk into the store.

Pam September 18, 2010 at 9:07 pm

I know it is like they are whispering behind our back as soon as you walk through the door…I live in Savannah, Ga and shop at the store on Wilmington Island…I love all the great deals I can get shopping there but just don’t know if I can take the rudeness anymore!!!

Rochelle – I see two Campbell’s condensed soup coupons at the link I have. One excludes Great for Cooking and one includes Great for cooking. The one on the right includes them. All these soup names, my word!

Reply

sara September 18, 2010 at 11:19 pm

@ Suze-

Both items ring full price, then at the end of the transaction the register automatically discounts one item( making one free),But you are still technically “buying” two items, therefore you can use two coupons.

hope that makes sense!

Francoise September 19, 2010 at 9:07 am

I have the same question Arviena asked earlier:

…for the Revlon Rebate, do you need to reach $30 before or after the 40% sale discount? I’m thinking this would depend on whether the items rang up at the 40% off price or if they rang up at full price and then automatically deducted 40% at the end of the receipt. Any thoughts? Am I right in thinking this is relevant?

BTW, I’m in a test market, so I’m fairly certain the the items ring at full price and then deduct at the end. Although I don’t think this is the case in NON test markets.

I wish I had good experiences at Walgreens and could feel good about trying to get some of these deals. I went in yesterday to my Walgreens (which almost never has any of the “new” RR items in stock, such as the Impruv lotion). I tried to get 2 of the Schick razors. The cashier said “because you’re getting one of these free you can only use one coupon, that’s our policy and that’s always been our policy” even though I showed her the printed out corporate coupon policy. Then she wouldn’t let me use my Dulcolax coupons even though I had things to use up the overage (she marked them down to 6.99). Then, she said because I was getting those for “free” she wouldn’t scan the Walgreens Dulcolax coupon. THEN she said that I obviously photocopied them because I had more than one (I did not) so she voided the one coupon and tore it up. I’ve never been so disgusted.

Jamie September 19, 2010 at 12:52 pm

I just got home from my Walgreens and they wouldn’t let me use manufacturer’s coupons on the Trident gum or Gain because they were already on sale and it wouldn’t “be fair.” I should have brought the coupon policy with me because the manager had no idea one existed and just kept telling me it wasn’t “fair” to get something with no money out of pocket. Lesson learned.

Reply

Christie September 19, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Jamie & Jennifer – I urge you to contact corporate and complain. I think they had to come up with a policy because of complaints and hopefully if enough people complain they’ll actually train their staff.

Jamie – I mean honestly, because it isn’t “fair”? Does this woman steal from the wealthy because it’s “not fair” that they have so much when others don’t. In other words her interpretation of what’s “fair” should have no bearing on what the rules are. I really can’t stand these cashiers who just decide to make up stuff because it suits them. Ugh.

Hi all, I had 2 experiences today that I want to share. First the bad – I went to this Wags store and bought 3 campbell’s cream of chicken and 1 thermacare heatwrap single. I handed over the $1.50/3 campbell’s coupon and $1/1 thermacare coupon, then I paid. The cashier gave me my receipt but no $1.50 RR from thermacare. I asked why there’s no RR, and then she called the manager. The manager told me it’s a new policy now, that I won’t get the RR if I used MQ. I asked if they’re sure, and the manager looked straight at me and said yes (in a nice way). Is this true?? 🙁 I didn’t argue anymore and left.

Now to the good one – Air Wick i-motion is 50% off. It’s $3.99 at this Wags store. I tried using the $4 off coupon which is expiring today but the cashier doesn’t want to price adjust, so I didn’t push it. I went to another Wags store (about 1.5 miles away). The Air Wick i-motion is $4.24! I was soooo glad. I was able to buy 2 of this and paid $.48 + tax (i didn’t have to argue :)).

Reply

Christie September 19, 2010 at 3:52 pm

Maria – I have heard of and have experienced one individual store that “rigged” it’s Catalina machines to not give out RR when you use a coupon. However, because so often Walgreens ads have deals that advertise a coupon and a RR deal, I think you have a good case to complain to corporate. For example the RR deal for Fiber Choice advertises a coupon in “most Sunday papers” and the RR deal. I suggest you complain to corporate and go shop the store down the street instead!

Reply

Maria September 19, 2010 at 3:56 pm

Yep, I’m not going back to that store 🙂 So the RR for Thermacare did print for you guys right? I’m printing more coupons now 🙂

Lori September 19, 2010 at 4:12 pm

Not sure if it will work, but worth a try if you need it…There’s a 50% off Q for the Scan and Share CD, says Reg. $5.99, in the ad this week. There’s also a $3 Q in the Sept. WQ Book. Different numbers. Could be a freebie if they let you use both.

OK ~ I NEED HELP! I went to Wags in Richmond Hill GA … when I went to the counter the girl rolled her eyes because I had coupons! I bought 7 of the Thermacare pads … I had 7 coupns. I only got 1 RR for the $1.50 … is that right!?!?!? It’s also 15-20% off on Tuesday’s for military and when my husband showed her his card she took a deep breath and said well I’ll have to void the whole thing and ring it again~! There was line a mile long and I just told her to forget it. It wouldn’t have been so long if she didn’t have to literlly inspect every coupon like I am trying to smuggle some goods out of the store!! Please help .. do I get a RR for each one or one per transaction!?!?!?
Signed,

Frustrated in Richmond Hill, GA

Reply

Christie September 22, 2010 at 9:07 pm

Jan – I suggest you read the Shopping at Walgreens Basics HERE. No matter how many thermacare pads you buy in a transaction you’ll only get 1 RR. So you need to do multiple transactions with one Thermacare in each transaction.

My guess is that they use the employee discount for the military discount and they do need to put that in at the beginning of the transaction. However, that doesn’t excuse your cashiers horrible behavior! Geez!

Shirley September 24, 2010 at 6:08 pm

The AARP $5 back after spending $20 is actually after all coupons deducted including manufacturers not as the ad states , before taxes and after all other Walgreens discounts applied.
