Walgreens Shopping Scenario 5/18

by Christie- on May 17, 2014

lightbulb2

Here’s my shopping scenario for 5/18. In this scenario you’ll get $19.98 in merchandise, after sales and coupons you’ll pay $8.48 out of pocket and end up with $3.50 in Register Rewards & $2 in balance reward points. So it’s like you spent $2.98 for all of these items.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THESE TRANSACTIONS

-) You can’t have more MQ than items! Blue = MQ
-) You don’t have to do these in one day, just pick up where you left off.
-) I always bring some extra fillers with me to the register, in case of an emergency!

Transaction #1

You end up with $3.50 RR & $2 (2,000 Balance Reward Points), so it’s like you’re paying $2.98 for 1 Capriclear, 1 Velveeta Cheesy Skillet, 4 Hershey’s Snacksters, 1 St. Josehps, and 1 Colgate!

Couldn’t find the coconut oil sprays at mine, the manager even came out to look and he couldn’t find them anywhere. Where did you find them at yours?

They were in the same place the wound wash was last week. My store just stocked them on an empty shelf near first aid

I have been doing RRs deals since 7 years ago but now I am getting tired of Walgreens, coupons do not scan any more even if you are buying the right product and the limit allow. At my regular store cashiers are afraid of taking coupons (they use to be pretty good) and you can tell they are pressure to take only one when they read ” limit one per purchase ” they even tell you can use more coupons but do separate transactions, but sometimes to do the deal you have to buy 2 or 4 at the same time, one of my regular cashiers said that their job is on the line if they take coupons without reading them, she said that their store lost a lot of money due to coupons used incorrectly 🙁
I now try to go to a different store where there are 2 BA that are wonderful and know about coupons, but if they are not working when I go, I just turn around and leave.
Is it just me or is it getting harder to coupon and enjoy at the same time?

Yup but I just go wit the flow, thinks r a lot more strict when u have people who will purposly mususe coupons or finds out so n so coupon will scan for a differnt product n abuses it, so people like us have to pay for it..as stores prolly have lost from this

why don’t the get their managers educated about coupons, I don’t know. Today my store’s manager told me dat, RR reward won’t print for Capriclear and velveeta cheese bcoz i used last week’s wound wash RRs. when they re do my transaction in another counter RRs printed for both.
could there be a possibility dat their catalina machine might have prob in the 1st place?

boy…were they wrong…one time I checked out, and my Catalina rewards printed on the other registers machine…they too thought I shouldn’t get them until the notices the problem…messed up mess.

Yeah I just found out today they won’t take coupons that mention redeemable at another store. I’ve been going there for 3 yrs and now they say this. They need to have a one set of rules everyone follows.

I have posted before on the massive chaos that it takes to check out with coupons at Walgreens. Sometimes I have to plan 1/2 hour just because of their problems. Not my problems..theirs. And it isn’t like they don’t want consumers to use coupons…just look at their ads and your know that they encourage coupons, and the multiple layers too…points, rewards, coupons, instore coupons, coupons in books displayed at aisles, b1/g1 deals, etc. I too believe they need to post their exact coupon policies, cuz the things you all are mentioning….most aren’t right. Stores should be able to take coupons that say “Redeemable at Walmart”. It doesn’t say “Redeemable only at Target”. Maybe it is time for the product manufacturer to stop putting that promotion tag on a coupon. I understand Target coupons, but if Walmart wants their own coupons, then they shouldn’t use the Manufacturing coupons for their own promo, causing the problems you are all mentioning. I thing I’d fight…and call right into Walgreens while you are there, because it sounds wrong. Good luck. Maybe Walgreens is reading this, because they have to fix the chaos.

typo above…I THINK I’d Fight, and call right into Walgreens customer service while you are there. They have clarified coupons for me that way. The last one I dealt with is whether you have to reach the “rewards level” before manufacturing coupons or after. The rule is “Before Manufacturing coupons”. Our manager was adamant and very wrong that coupons affect your ability to get the rewards. NO…..there was something wrong with your register, not my coupons causing the problems. The corporate customer service people are very helpful, and then be sure you get the info back to your store so they can “get it right”.
