Walgreens Shopping Scenario 8/14!

by Christie Bisbee on August 13, 2011

Here is my Walgreens Shopping Scenario for 8/14. In this scenario you’d get $51.57 in merchandise, spend $10.31 out of pocket and end up with $10 in Register Rewards. So, it’s like you are paying $.31 for everything! WOO HOO!

Won’t the Stayfree B1G1 Pads be a problem at the register since everything seems to be ringing up at half price? .. For example they might ring up $3.50 and the next at $3.29… It seems that all the deals like this have been ringing up like that lately. If they do it might be difficult to get a cashier to take off the entire $6.79

I had this same issue with my head and shoulders a few weeks ago. They would only take my B1G1 coupon for the $2.xx on the second bottle, not the $4 that it should have been since it was 2 for $8. Hope you are able to get it to work correctly!

Mary August 13, 2011 at 10:26 pm

I had that problem for the H&S shampoo too, but I asked the sales guy to call his manager and the manager said it should be at $4 not the $2.xx that it was ringing up as, so he took off the $4. The lady in front of me didn’t get as lucky, she questioned but took the $2.xx instead.

Went this morning to our walgreens and the stayfree pads the are B1G1 free well when you use the coupon it is only giving you something like $4.49 off so you get 2 for $2.20 or $1.10 each not as great as free but not awful either.
Did anyone else have this problem?

For the free 6pk expo marker deal, I have the $2/2 coupon and 1 of the August coupon book $3 coupons. Do I need to have 2 of the $3 coupons?

Reply

Christie August 13, 2011 at 6:26 pm

Nope – just one of the Walgreens coupons will take off $6 – just make sure to give the MQ first.

Has anyone here had this problem???? I went into Walgreens this morning to purchase the expo markers. The cashier and the manager said I COULD NOT use the manuf. coupon and the Walgreens coups together because the Walgreens coupon states that it is a manf coupon. I have never had a problem with this before the manager says they are cracking down on coupons because of the show??? I live in Fl. Any suggestions?

Reply

Mommyof3 August 14, 2011 at 11:36 am

Where in FL are you? I’m in Ocala. I purchased (3) 2pk black expo markers @.99 each and (5) 6pk expo markers @$3.99 each late last night.I was able to use the store q which took off $15, and (4) $2/2 mq’s which made them all free.

Reply

Becky August 14, 2011 at 6:51 pm

I live in DeBary (volusia county). It does say on the walgreens coupon that it is a manf. coupon BUT she did not clip it out of the book she just scanned it. Who knows, I stopped at another Walgreens but they were all out of the expo’s. I am going to try again, I was just SHOCKED they ALWAYS take both.

I live in UT and I had the same issue with the Dry Erase Markers. I could either use (1) $3 off instant value Walgreen coupon or (1)$2/2 coupon. I was told they were both manufacturer coupons. They wouldn’t let me get 2 packs either with the $3 off instant value Walgreens coupon (taking $6 off). They said it only lets you get one at that price (per customer/per offer, not per item). The best I could do was get 1 pk for $.99.

Reply

Pru August 15, 2011 at 4:23 pm

My store said the same thing. So, I got around this by printing off the coupon from the Walgreens website. These coupons say nothing about being a MQ only that the coupon is a Walgreens in store saving. Also, some stores have bonus dry erase boards to go with the markers. I hope this helps!

Elizabeth August 13, 2011 at 7:02 pm

the stayfree bogo coupon is only good up to $4.49 so it won’t be free….$2.30 difference.

OMG! 7/24ss has the 2 revlon q, but this weeks papers should have 1/1 to stack!

Reply

Eddy August 13, 2011 at 8:10 pm

Is the revlon $2 q from 7/24ss an instore coupon? or do i have to give it up to the cashier, because mine doesnt have any numbers under the bar code…?

Reply

Kelly August 13, 2011 at 8:30 pm

Christie,

Can you use the wags cpn and the manufacturer cpn stacked together on the revlon polish? I noticed you didn’t in your scenario. I planned mine out using both and don’t want to run into any issues tomm at the store. Thanks!

Question, I didn’t get the $1.25/3 M&M’s coupon in my 7/10 RP I got $0.75/3, should I just do that? It’s only for M&M’s though will it still work. Thanks so much for your help.

Reply

Christie August 14, 2011 at 12:12 am

Yes the Mars are M&Ms. Just buy (3) and use the $.75 coupon, it’ll just be $.50 more but still a GREAT deal! 🙂

Ellie August 14, 2011 at 2:21 pm

Thank you so much Christie! I have had some bad experiences at my Walgreens & gave up for awhile, but today I went & did the exact deals you listed & everything went off without any peeps or problems! Thank you so much! It was really fun & my niece was with me so I hope she got to learn a little as well. 🙂

How many of the Expo markers can I buy? I have 4 of the coupons printed off so can I buy eight packs of the Expo markers and get them for free or is it limited to one per transaction? I will do separate transactions if I have to. I really want to donate these to my daughter’s school. I live in Minnesota and our budget that the governer approved involves a huge delay in money they are sending to the schools here meaning our schools will have to borrow in the millions just to keep operating. Its a mess.

Reply

Wayne August 13, 2011 at 10:21 pm

You should be able to do multiples unless they have a limit on the Q in the ad. Even then it will ring up if your cashier lets it. There is no RR attached to the item so you don’t have to worry about it not printing those.

Shari August 14, 2011 at 3:13 pm

I was so excited for the Expo deal and then I got to my store ( 3 hours after they opened) and they were all gone. Makes me so mad when people clear the shelves. I couldn’t even get one pack! I asked the manager when they would get more in stock and she said since its a back to school item they can’t be reassured any certain time.

Reply

Mary August 15, 2011 at 10:02 am

Out of stock at my Walgreens now. I was only able to get 2 packs at two Walgreens stores I went to … since it’s back to school time they should make efforts to be sure they ARE GOING TO GET MORE IN. I was really hoping to get a few more packs to donate to my children’s school or Stuff The Bus program they have going on in our area. I make sure I don’t clear out any shelves, but when there are only two packs left … sorry, early bird gets the worm, even if it is just a little nibble. This past Saturday there were tons at all the stores, so it’s unusual that there were none at 6am on Sunday. I’m hoping whoever bought them all donated them like many of us had planned on doing.

I think the colgate sensitive is on sale next week for $4.99 with $4 RR = MM with MQ

The markers that we printed were 4 pack and in walgreens august booklet is $3 off the 6 pack! right?

Reply

Christie August 14, 2011 at 1:06 am

The printable coupons were off any – so it doesn’t matter what size. 🙂

Reply

Mary August 14, 2011 at 1:09 am

The picture has a 4 pack, but the wording says any 2 packs of Expo markers, so using it on the 6 packs will be just fine.

I went this morning and tried to get the revlon nail polish. The Mgr wouldn’t take the coupon- she said that the coupon doesn’t fit the nail polish (even though there is nail polish in the picture of one of the coupons). Then she told me that Walgreens has a new policy where they don’t take coupons on sale items…what?! Of course I called corporate and she is absolutely wrong (obviously). If anyone was able to use their coupons on the revlon please share how it worked…

Reply

kate August 14, 2011 at 12:55 pm

I purchased the Revlon polish with both the $1/1 mq from today’s SS and the $2 wags coupon. The mq beeped but the manager pushed it thru and it worked fine. Nice mm!

Reply

anna August 14, 2011 at 1:36 pm

I went to two different stores. At the first store the $1 MQ beeped but the cashier pushed it through. At the second store it beeped and the cashier refused to take it 🙁 Oh well, still a money maker with the SQ 🙂

Reply

kate August 14, 2011 at 2:29 pm

Just curious, anyone know why it’s beeping? Is it not the right coupon for the sale? I don’t still have mine but I thought it was even the same one in the picture on the coupon.

Reply

Naomi August 14, 2011 at 11:20 am

I just got back and did the Revlon deal. I had both the $1/1 insert cpn from today and the $2 Walgreens coupon. I bought the new Revlon Scented Perfume nail polish, was able to use both coupons, and received the $3 RR for that deal. Now I also bought a 8 pack of the Hershey mini-bars (clearanced to 85¢)and two Reach toothbrushes. I also used the $1.50/2 Reach cpn and a $3 RR (Colgate). That order went through beepless.

I did another order and got a regular Revlon polish and the $2 Walgreens coupon worked on it as well. I didn’t have another $1/1 insert cpn but a lady before me did and bought the same variety of polish and her coupon beeped. I know it had to do with the UPC code of the polish not matching up with the insert coupon. Why Revlon codes their polish differently is beyond me but it sure does wreck havoc with our deals…lol!

Hope this helps and made sense!

I just made a special quick trip to Wags before church to get the expo markers to be told that someone came in and all 8 or 9 packages they had yesterday just using the in-store coupon. They didn’t say if she had the mfq too. The cashier asked if she was a teacher and she said no. I am soooooooooooooo tired of hoarders in Nashville. I wish people would just buy what they need at the time. I’m all for stockpiling, but I was a 1st grade teacher, and would NEVER use that many expo markers in one school year. Oh, and she also made a point of saying she was headed to every Walgreen’s in the area too.

Reply

Deborah Clements August 14, 2011 at 2:21 pm

That explains why I am having trouble finding the advertised items. I also live in Nashville and am sick of the shelf clearing. No wonder the clerks are not happy with those of us who use coupons.

Mary August 15, 2011 at 10:15 am

I considered going in late on Saturday to do this Expo deal, since I’ve heard Sunday prices get programmed in the register and start working on Saturdays. Next time I won’t think twice about it … get it while you can and I agree, DON’T CLEAR SHELVES OR BE A HOARDER!

Is anyone having a problem with the Omega Smart Super Krill Oil coupon not working?

Reply

anna August 14, 2011 at 1:39 pm

When the cashier tried to scan it it beeped but it worked with entering the code manually.

Reply

Joan J August 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm

My store had to fight with the Krill coupon to get it to scan but they have to fight with all the coupons. The clerks all say they hate the “new” scanners because they don’t read coupons well, INCLUDING their own register rebates.

Reply

Sandy August 17, 2011 at 3:58 pm

I was wondering this too. I tried it the other day with no problem, and tried it again today in a different store and the cashier could not get it to go in, even when she typed in the numbers. Finally the manager overrode it and entered it. (Our cashiers around here are good like that, I rarely have a problem gettng them to enter or adjust a coupon). The Krill deal is amazing because it’s just a pdf coupon with no limit on prints, so I plan on picking up one everyday at every Walgreens that still has them! Does it end this week or is it a month-long RR?

Reply

Taylor August 14, 2011 at 2:30 pm

can i buy 3 revlon nail polishes in 1 trans and get back (3) 3rr? or do i have to purchase in different trans?

Reply

kate August 14, 2011 at 3:44 pm

Taylor, you’ll need to purchase the Revlon in 3 separate transactions to get 3 $3 RRs.

Reply

Abbe August 14, 2011 at 2:32 pm

Make sure if you are getting the Reach toothbrushes to pay attention to the price! They are supposed to be 2/$5 but mine rang up $2.99 and $2.29! Not a huge difference, but still…I could’ve used that .30 on something else!

GETTING BROWNIE POINTS WITH YOUR WAGS CASHIERS!!!!
PLEASE READ THEN…

Good morning, I finally found a great Walgreens where the cashier gal is awesome. She even told me I so nice; and that she wished all the customers could be that way. Note I usually do about 4 to 5 transactions with her. So I was thinking the same of her.

She asked me in the nicest way that; WALGREENS is have a contest for their cashiers, and she asked me about if I would be interested in purchasing the snickers candy bars at the cashier register for the contest for her. LADIES this is the way to get brownie points with your cashier. They are 3 for $2 but on sale this week for $.49 ! I purchased about 8 of them, she was over whelmed!!She said that this we be great for her to show her boss that she is a great cashier. The contest ends this weekend on Sunday if I remember right. If you have a good cashier or want to make that bond with them. THIS IS THE WAY!!! PLUS IT IS A GREAT FILLER ITEM TOO!

I live in a vrey rural area and have only 1 Walgreens for 100 miles. All of the good deals are gone within one day and I can’t make it to Wags on Sundays (20 miles away). Can I get rain checks on all weekly/monthly deals? Will RR be given after the sale?

Reply

Mary August 15, 2011 at 10:27 am

The ad usually specifies if rainchecks are not possible, but RR don’t print if it is not that particular sale week … their not like CVS on ECBs and rainchecks, even though it is possible for them to manually print a RR. I don’t think it would hurt if you explained your situation to the manager, if anything he could pre-order specific items for you and have them set aside for when you are able to come in during the week. I’ve heard some wags customers do this in the past for popular sale items.

Reply

Unknown August 25, 2011 at 10:47 am

I work at a Walgreens and we have a lot of people come through our store with coupons I have no problems with coupons and I too use them when I can. Alot of the items that give a register reward are often gone on the first day, and some of the school items we normally dont carry a raincheck cannot be written out and if the item is ordered it more than likely wont be in stock while the sale is still going on.

As a cashier I have gotten screamed at by people who are upset we are out of items, there are limits to many of the sale items and towards the end of the week depending on the item the limit isnt an issue. Just wanted to let everyone out here know that most cashiers dont mind customer who use coupons, but I agree with a lot of people who said shelves shouldnt be cleared.
