We have some coupon policy updates at Walgreens that I want to make you all aware of. See the full Walgreens coupon policy HERE
. These do not appear to be too disruptive to our deals.
Most of the policy remains the same…
- Coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time checkout begins. It used to read All coupons are to be presented to the cashier at the time of checkout.
It may be interepreted that hand over all your coupons before they scan anything which you know it’s not the way we’re used to doing things. I haven’t had anyone ask for this yet. - There is a limit of four identical coupons per household, per day that will be accepted.
However, they also have a paragraph about enforcing all the limitations in the coupon by the manufacturer. So this would just mean that if there is no limit identical coupons in a coupon, you’ll only be able to use 4. - Walgreens reserves the right to refuse, or limit the use of any coupon, including if the customer’s behavior becomes disruptive/confrontational or the items being purchased are deemed not for normal household use.
This would be for people what want to grab the free toothpaste or whatever product multiple times or if we were to lose our temper for example when Cashiers make up rules. Like when one told me my register reward didn’t print because that P&G offer that reads by four Tide, Downy, Bounty or Charmin actually means I had to buy four TIDE or Four Downy or Four Bounty or Four Charmin. (UGH!) It is upsetting of course, but let’s just all take it easy. - When products are advertised in a Buy One, Get One Half Off promotion, the best value to the customer will be applied for the coupon. This will likely result in the coupon being applied to the highest priced item.
I find B1G1 coupons usually get scanned at the higher value automatically by the Walgreens Register (for example if the sale price is B1G1 50% off. We usually get credit for the first product. However, since there is a paragraph about having to follow all the Manufacturer’s restrictions on the coupon, this will not necessarily work for us, even if we point out this paragraph to the cashier. Notice it only reads “likely result.” Most B1G1 coupons do read of equal or lesser value if you are required to buy two of the same items. So I’ve had cashiers actually NOT scan a coupon when it’s clear it’s been too popular and manually give credit for the lesser item, although this is rare. So always be prepared to only get the 50% value and remember the paragraph added above to not get upset. We don’t want to be banned from Walgreens.
They added a couple paragraphs to the Digital coupons which don’t change anything. Unless maybe people were forgetting to clip a coupon to your card then wanting credit for it after the transaction. Oops!
Walgreens.com paperless coupons must be clipped and attached to your MyWalgreens account prior to, or at the time of, purchase in order to be accepted. Walgreens cannot honor any coupons clipped after the transaction has completed.
When redeeming Walgreens.com paperless coupons at checkout, customers can add their myWalgreens account in the following ways:
Enter the phone number, associated with the myWalgreens account the coupons are clipped to, on the pinpad
Have the cashier scan myWalgreens Digital Wallet code.
