Walgreens: Updates From the Field 4/13

by Christie- on April 13, 2014

Morton Unlabeled-5wHere are some updates from my Walgreens shopping trip today, to help your Walgreens shopping trip go a bit easier.

$5 wyb $25+ Points Deal: Great news!  The deal is working as the others previously worked. Reach $25 before manufacturer coupons (but after any Walgreens Coupons) and you can earn your $5 in points! Plus, I was able to do more than one transaction. I used the in-ad points booster coupon each time and I received $5 (5,000 Balance Reward Points) each time. Just be sure to have the coupon scanned.

MORTON LOTION: If you’re having difficulty finding the Morton Epsom Lotion, I found it next to the Epsom Salts, although my store didn’t have it labeled yet.

ZIPLOC DEAL: I was very happy to find the bonus size 120 ct Ziploc Sandwich bags. These do scan on sale and do produce the Register Reward. That’s an extra 40 bags. The first box on the shelf was actually a 100 ct, but when I looked behind it, the bonus sized ones were there, so be sure to look!

can dairy be included in the deal and still get points?

Someone on the other post was saying it did not work when they bought eggs, but it worked for me I just spent 25 not including my eggs.

Someone else said sour cream did not work.

so I do not think dairy can be inckuded in your $25

Eggs messed me up this morning and I had to go grab gum. Cashier said no dairy was allowed. They need to clarify this better.

I had kind of a bad shopping trip aty local Walgreens today. The cashier was very inexperienced and for some reason would not give me my points that I had ($10 worth!) I also had the $4 off Almay coupon and “it wouldn’t work” so he just handed it back to me :-/

For Walgreens coupon….if the limit is 3…is that a limit of 3 per day or per card. I already got 3 packs of gum for the coupon price. I wanted to get 3 more tomorrow…will I get the walgreen coupon price again?

That is only if your store enforces the limit stated in the coupon. At my store they usually don’t have a problem if you take more than the limit stated. Lets say you buy 5 packs fo gum, when they scan the coupon it will immediately adjust the price for all the items in your transaction that match that specific coupon, it is not a system (computer) imposed limit. hth

Kelly it is three per visit. If you go back by the same day you can get more. :).

Even though previously have had no issues getting to $25 after all Walgreen’s “coupons” but before all Manufacturer “coupons” or RR’s “coupons”, I was shown an email notification to the store where I have shopped for many years and they know me that stated the $25 had to be AFTER ALL “coupons”. They did say that it would work like I said but they were told by their Asst. Manager today not to use any Booster Coupon if using ANY “coupon”. So… they lost my sale today and they knew it but I am not going to make an issue when they are just following what has come down from above. What I do have an issue with is that corporate did not spell out the types of “coupons” they meant nor did it seem to be an issue in all stores because I don’t see that it was an issue at your store where you did 3 transactions. I don’t like that it is different, we seem to be going back to the days before they had a corporate coupon policy when stores, managers, cashiers, etc. could make up their own rules. I love Walgreen’s and my people that work there but this is getting under my skin.

What I asked them to do since all that was there when I was there late in the day today was to have the manager who I have dealt with for many years and have a great working relationship with to clarify with corporate and get a new email spelling out the types of coupons that they were referencing so that the employees at Walgreen’s know what corporate is talking about, it is an assumption when it is not spelled out exactly. Also, I will be calling him tomorrow and asking why other stores didn’t seem to get the same email and why they were enforcing it and other stores didn’t seem to even see the email.

I meant to say that the only person in charge was a shift manager at the end of the day and I did see the email they had highlighted with the reference to the “coupons” so it was really sent.

Dianne, I feel your pain. The last time I shopped at Walgreens my store adopted a policy to only a customer to use one coupon in a transaction. I walked away and haven’t been back. Corporate needs to hold stores accountable for following policy. I need to return to redeem points but haven’t done it.

I feel for u Dianne. i do love shopping in walgreens and also do shopping in shoprite.
But I very much love the cashiers and managers in shoprite, where they are very much educated about coupons and their coupon policy than the walgreens people, where even managers don’t know the coupon policy.

Deal scenario I did today to earn 5,000 points booster:
(3) Almay Softies Eye Shadow = $4.99 X 3 = $14.97
(3) Ban Cooling Cloths = $3.99 X 3 $11.97
(1) Wet ‘n Wild lip shimmer = $1.49
=28.43
-use $1.00 Almay Wags Q (will deduct $3)
-use (3) $4.00 Almay MQ (4/13 SS)
-use (3) Ban Cooling Cloths FREE MQ
-use (1) $1.00 Wet ‘n Wild MQ
= .46 cents OP

There were no beeps with any of the coupons!

I thought I would come back and report that I did talk to the manager yesterday and got a call back from the asst. manager today who is the person who instructed her shift leads on Sunday how to handle the Points Booster coupon with regard to coupons. She said that she never said that it was after ALL coupons but after all Walgreen’s coupons just as it has always been, but BEFORE all Manufacturer Coupons which includes Register Rewards. Somehow in the process of transfer of shift leads, the message got distorted. She spoke to the manager of the other Walgreen’s in our town as well and straightened things out. She also told me that the District Manager was in the store today and she would tell him my suggestion about getting corporate to send out a new email that specifically states the coupons in the correct order and how they can be redeemed along with the Points Booster. It is a little late for this go around but if they continue to offer the Points Booster it would hopefully help other Walgreen’s employees to all be on the same page since I have read on other blogs that there were more Walgreen’s that were told the same thing, not all but some. They are giving me a $10 gift card for my trouble and profusely apologized that this happened.
