Walgreens: Updates From the Field

by Christie Bisbee on June 30, 2013

Simply LemonadeHere are some updates from my trip today that can help make your trip a little easier! πŸ™‚

SIMPLY LEMONADE DEAL: I was happy to see that there was plenty of Simply Lemonade at my store! If you missed my last post on this, there’s a 50Β’ coupon for these in the new Walgreens July book, so be sure to include that in your deal to stack with the printable. You only need them to scan the book once and it’ll apply to all of the Simply Lemonade you buy.

Walgreens Deals (thru 7/6)
Simply Lemonade or Nice! Orange Juice 59 oz $1.99
$0.75/1 Simply Lemonade printable
50Β’/1 Simple OJ or Lemonade 13.5 or 59oz Walgreens July Book
= 74Β’ EACH!Β

STARBUCKS REFRESHERS DEAL: If you are a big fan of these and don’t want to do multiple transactions, here’s a nice surprise for you. Many of you are getting a $1/2 Starbucks Refreshers or a $1.50/3 Starbucks refreshers catalina coupon printing when you buy your first one. So if you get these you can do one of these deals depending on what coupon you get…

Screen Shot 2013-06-30 at 5.50.16 PMVENUS DEAL: Looks like both the Venus with Olay and the Venus Embrace are included in the points deal this week. If you are looking for a way to use those high value $5 Β Venus coupons and need razors, this is a good deal.

Buy (1) Venus Embrace or Venus with Olay $9.99
$5/1 Venus Razor, exp. 7/31/13 (RP 06/16/13)
Total = $4.99, Get Back $2 (2,000) points
= $2.99 Each!

I’d love to hear your opinion about the Venus Embrace vs. the Venus with Olay. I’ve been using some Schick razors that I stocked up when they were free and I am just about to run out! So I was thinking about picking up a few of these. So your opinions Β & comments are appreciated. Help! πŸ™‚

So how was your shop? Find any great deals? Let us know!

I LOVE the Venus Embrace!!! The Olay razors are ok…but you only get 1 cartridge in the package…so not worth it money-wise for me…

I LOVE the Starbucks Refreshers too!!! and I too got the coupon on Saturday when I bought a couple for a 1.00 πŸ™‚

Thanks~~~

hi sorry to bother you guys but i have a quick question can i use RR and points to pay for a transaction or will i need fillers? I’ve been couponing for two years but have just restarted to shop at Walgreens and the point system confuses me at times. So any help is much appreciated.

Reply

Christie June 30, 2013 at 6:39 pm

Yes you can use both RR and points in one transaction. Just don’t use points to pay if you plan on getting more points because then you won’t.

It just makes so much sense to accumulate points until you get to 40,000 because then you will have a bonus and get $50. So let’s say you have 45,000 points. Use 40,000 in one transaction if you have over $50 of items. You still have 5,000 points to accumulate till your next 40,000 (or $50). Be sure to use coupons when you do this $50 transaction (or fill with RR earning items) to stretch it, but don’t count on getting points for any items when you redeem points like Christie says. I like to use my 40,000 to buy all my generic allergy meds, often using a Walgreens coupon in their book, and waiting for a really good deal on those (because I know COSTCO sells them cheep so I have to do better.) πŸ™‚

I’m not a great fan of Schick, which I had been using, until my pile ran out, too. πŸ™‚

Those Olays pictured are the ones I use now, and they are awesome. They have two cartridges, which make the deal better. I’ll be honest… I can’t tell the difference in performance between the Olay and Embrace. They are both great.

Thanks for all your hard work. I must check your page twice a day to make sure I didn’t miss anything. hehe

I’m not a fan of the Olay razors because of the lotion stuff on them. It seems like too much, seems kinda gunky and it’s gone after a couple uses leaving just a big razor. I like using separate shaving cream anyway, so I prefer the Embrace.

I purchased the Starbucks Refreshers individually & got both $1 RR & $1/2 catalina for each one I did.

I haven’t tried the Embrace yet but am on my second venus-olay. I really like the stuff on the blades, gives a real close shave and my legs feel good and also smooth. the stuff does wear off- this time I put up the little suction cup thing it comes with in hopes the gunk will last longer.anyway, got it for free, can’t complain too much, right? thanks for all your great deal ideas, read your site all the time!

Olay razor is good. The blades stay sharp a really long time. I won’t even tell you how long I have been using one… I don’t have much hair on my legs though so I don’t put my razor through much of .a workout. The stuff on the razor wears off pretty quickly so its not worth the extra money, if it does cost extra money.

I received a mailer not too long ago that had an 8$/1 for the Venus with Olay, has anyone else received this or know where it came from?

Reply

Sandra June 30, 2013 at 10:22 pm

VocalPoint. Isn’t it a coupon for $8 off 2 razors?

Reply

kathy June 30, 2013 at 8:39 pm

I agree with Joy. the olay stuff wears off after only about 3 shaves or so, leaving you with just a razor. I stored my razor outside of the shower and this still happened. kind of a waste of money. I want to be able to use it at least 5x before replacing the blade.

melissa June 30, 2013 at 10:30 pm

I still used mine after the olay was gone

Everyone! Check your store’s display sign outside. Mine in Derby, ks said doritos were B1g1 free AND the ad says they were $1.99. So we were about to get 6 bags for $.99 each! They had to do an over ride at the register since they were really not suppose to be b1g1 free πŸ™‚ happy mistake!

I had heard several times from women that they had always preferred men’s razors. I started using the Profusion and have used it for a couple years now. Love it! But when the Venus Olay was such a good deal a few months ago, I stocked up and sorry I did. Not impressed! I will probably give them away, and continue to use the Profusion. Always good deals on it also!

Beth June 30, 2013 at 11:38 pm

Actually I meant the Gillette Fusion ProGlide, not Profusion!

Awe I missed the okay razor deal this morning oh well. I was able to complete your three transactions you posted and I was quite surprised everything was in stock on our little town! But I didn’t buy gum since I didn’t have coupons I bought aluminum foil and wax paper instead cuz I was in desperate need of those lol. Thanks for your wonderful deal ideas! …. Also I was quite shy about having to ask my store employee to unlock the massage oil for me cuz they lovked it in a case lol. What a wonderful experience for me since I just decided to return to couponing…. I haven’t done it over a year since I was preggo early 2012!! Yay!

I got the GUM toothbrushes on two separate visits today along with Refreshers and got the $1/2 Catalina. I did pick up the sexy free Durex massage gels, but seriously, the Walgreens I went to at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday had no price stickers on any of their items (the Durex gel was still marked $12.99 not $7.99 with $7.99 reward), so I’m lucky the circular works for guidance. Then, they did have two or three big yellow signs by the Johnson & Johnson bandaid area that if you buy any TWO first aid items you get a free Walgreens Medical bag. So I bought two Neosporin plus ($3.99) with some coupons ($1 off (from Walgreens Pain book) and $2 off (from previous first aid bag)), which is always good to have more of for all the locations, and for soccer bags. But when I checked out, the red bag didn’t ring up free. They said I have to buy three items which it says on the bags package…I’m like What the Heck…get your signs right….. and they looked at me like it was my fault their sign was wrong. I even said thay…”Why are you looking at me..I only did what the sign said”)….I’m sure you all have bumped into this problem……of course the manager gave it as the sign said. I think they were massively behind in getting their new pricing done. So bizarre.

My store never gets their signs up. I have run into the sign and bag difference a couple of times, I have told them to change their signs and they do for a little while. They never even get their ads until half way through the week, so I always print it off before I go.

grace July 1, 2013 at 10:14 pm

Jean, that is not only in your Walgreens, it is at ours too. The sign says two at the end cap and another sign said buy three. So, I bought two and it did not ring the bag free. When I asked, they said it is actually buy two!

Anyone know if the Starbucks catalina prints everytime or is it just once?

Reply

Norma July 1, 2013 at 5:46 am

Sometimes it prints $1/2 and sometimes $1.50/3, but I got one each time.

I had a question about points, the other day i tried to cash in $30 worth of points, my total before tax was like $30.04, but it only gave me the option to cash in $20 and i had to pay about $10 and some change out of pocket. Is there a threshold i need to meet or was the register just doing it wrong?

Reply

Deborah July 1, 2013 at 7:06 pm

There is no option to cash points for $30, either you use 18,000 points for $20 or jump to the next one that is 30,000 points for $35. hth.

Hi, I have a question. I was planning to buy some nature made vitamelts yesterday using 4/1 Vic that came out in paper inserts a few weeks back which expired on 6/30. Does anyone have any experience if Walgreens has any grace period for their own IVCs? In short, can I use the IVC today?

Reply

sharell July 1, 2013 at 12:35 pm

My store sometimes will give a rain check for a price minus IVC after expiration if they don’t have any of the items in stock.

I’m the couponer in our house and so bought the Venus & Olay for the missus when they first came out (oh boy did I buy loads with my coupons lol). When the Schick Silk razors became a great deal I bought those too. I asked the wife just last week which I should continue to buy n while she loved the Venus n Olay, she now prefers the Schick Silk.

Deb July 1, 2013 at 8:26 pm

Most stores have thosands of signs to put up. Hard to do it all in one night.

I always feel sorry for the 24 hour stores!

Reply

Guest July 1, 2013 at 11:18 pm

Why? They have much more time and man-hours to put them up. Feel sorry for the non-24 hours please πŸ˜€

Walgreens outside signs still say that doritos are B1g1 free, and the as.says $1.99. Point that out to the manager and you get then for $.99 each!
