Walgreens Balance Rewards Money Making Mitchum Deodorant!

by Christie Bisbee on September 17, 2012

Check out this deal on Mitchum deodorant! Although advertised in the weekly ad as giving 1,000 points ($1 – $1.25), the Mitchum is giving many of you 2,000 points ($2 – $2.50). Plus it was advertised in my store as 2,000 points. ๐Ÿ™‚ You might want to check the signs at your store too. If you find what I did, you’ll have a nice money maker.

Walgreens Balance Rewards Deals

If I want to redeem my points, do I get a gift card or does it go right toward my next or current purchase?

Are we only allowed to do one Deal per card?

Reply

grace September 17, 2012 at 11:17 am

You can do more than one

Reply

jane September 17, 2012 at 1:25 pm

You can only do one at a time like the RR right???

Reply

Amber September 17, 2012 at 4:20 pm

no you can do multiple in one transaction. The only time you can’t do more than one points deal in a transaction is the buy x amount to get x awards deals.

No, at the point of sale, it will indicate if you have met the minimum point redemption level. If you have, the pin pad will display all your adjusted totals if you wanted to redeem. You wont be given a gift card. It will just deduct from your total. And dont forget, if you have a Prescription Savings Club card, you will also get your rebate on W brand products in addition to your points. Be Well ๐Ÿ™‚

So what is the point to getting points if we can never use them on sale items?? The majority of sales items all have points,so we can only use them non-sale items??

Reply

dee September 17, 2012 at 2:56 pm

Use points on rr items use rr on point items or save points for xmas ir sumpin

Reply

Trish the Dish September 21, 2012 at 11:02 pm

You can use them on sale items but you won’t get new points if using points to pay for your purchase. Not everything in the ad gives you points, so just use the points to purchase a sale item that doesn’t give you points.

Hey Christie the deodorant is $3.99 in your pic and at my Walgreens. How are you getting $1.99. Need to find out before I buy lol!!

Reply

Christie September 17, 2012 at 2:56 pm

The tags have changed so it can be a little confusing. $3.99 is the regular price. The sale price this week is that $1.99 price underneath. Plus 2,000 bonus points.

I spent a good minute staring at the tag in the store because I was totally confused too! LOL. New tags print regular price on top, points next and then sale price. It would make more sense to me to just print sale price and then points underneath, but this is Walgreens after all. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think they put the regular price at the top so people without the balance rewards card will know how much the item really is. I’ve been to my local store every day now since sunday & the cashiers ask people if they want to sign up & so many people say no. They just don’t realize they don’t get the sale price if they don’t have the card. If the tags only had the sale price people w/o the card would probably be miffed to not get the price the tag advertised.

I’m a bit confused; can you use the points on a RR producing item and still get the RRs?

Reply

Amber September 17, 2012 at 4:22 pm

yes, and you can use RR’s to pay for point items and still get the points. What you CAN”T do is pay for an item that earns points with points and still receive the points. Just like you normally can’t use an RR to pay for the same item that receives RR and get an RR back.

Can I Pay for the Gum with points from this or can you not pay with point in any transaction you are getting points/
Thanks

Reply

grace September 17, 2012 at 5:08 pm

You can but you will not receive the gum points

Reply

pricila September 17, 2012 at 6:37 pm

so no sense of paying points on any item with points because it will not generate the supposed points..that sucks..our money will be tied on the card…no wonder they don’t have limits on products with points

Reply

grace September 17, 2012 at 9:32 pm

you can use the points to buy stuff you need, for example i am going to use my points to buy the $4.99 honey! I LOVE that honey!

Wow!! I think I finally understand. Amber explained the points system very well when she said it’s like RR ๐Ÿ™‚ that makes sense!! Thanks Amber!! ๐Ÿ™‚ happy shopping!!

Christie, I dont know how to contact you but if you go to hip2save i posted a comment on her gillette razor post about how to get 3 razors for either 2.97 or .97 cents.

It’s still going to be a game to use the points, just like it’s a game to use the RR. Plus, if the RR’s are going to go away then it will make it even more difficult to redeem points, especially since you have to redeem in multiples of $5. I might have a hard time making a transaction greater than $5 if there are no points. Oh well, I guess we will wait and see!

Carol September 18, 2012 at 1:35 pm

You can only redeem in multiples of $5? I thought that when you reached $5 you could start redeeming, in any amount. Anyone know where I can find that specific info? I thought I had this figured out. ARGH!

dee September 18, 2012 at 3:27 pm

Yes when u reach 5,000 u can use 2,000 but will lose 3,000 so Ur better off using the whole 5 just like get to 10,000 can use 6,000 but will lose the 4,000

Anyone know why the sales flier shows just 1000BR for the deod? The instore tag & my rec. shows 2000. Typo?

Laura H. September 18, 2012 at 3:26 pm

Does anyone know yet if you need filler items when redeeming points? For example, Grace mentioned buying the $4.99 honey — do we know if you could pay for it with 5,000 points, or would you need an item to push you over the $5.00 mark like with register rewards?

Michelle September 18, 2012 at 9:17 pm

After thinking that I would hate the new system, I am loving the rewards. I had 8 coupons for the id gum b1g1 free, spent $8 for 16 packs that i will put into our kids stockings(we have 7 kids), and have 8,000 points now. I have 8 of the deo coupons as well so i will pick those up and have 16,000 more points. The deoderant will also go into stockings. I am hoping to have $100 in points for the after thanksgiving sale. Last year i got 6 makeup cases fully loaded for $30 at the sale and used them for the 6 girls that we have. Yes i know that deo doesnt sound cool for a stocking but we are not rich and usually always fill them with toiletries they may need as well as some candy and a few small things like jewelry. This is such a perfect redemption for us to be able to save and save. The register rewards always expired too soon. I will get the razors this week and use the rr’s on products i can get points for.

Laura, i was told today that you can use them but will lose any extra money coming your way. So if a product is $3.99, you can use them but you still have to pay the tax and it takes away the full $5 value. I know a penny isn’t much but if you do it over and over, it still adds up

I Just bought 8 and only got 8000 points, called the number on the back of the card and they said I should see the additional 8000 points in the next 3-5 days they have to send info to Corp to get it approved!

I called and they put me on hold for foreverrr… so i emailed them instead… and the response I got was…

“I apologize for the inconvenience you recently experienced with your Balance Rewards account. No point adjustments can be made in regards to your request. Sounds like maybe they fixed it or something since the ad was saying it was supposed to be 1,000. That stinks, I was really hoping to still get some for a monemaker! I have to learn to get all my shopping done towards the beginning of the week because they always seem to fix up the good stuff that happens. Although it does make me wonder, why do some stores have tags that say 2,000 points by the items? I suppose if your store has those tags, you could call like Sarah and tell them about the problem.

Brenda September 20, 2012 at 12:47 am

I bought 3 today expecting to earn 2,000 points each and only earned 1,000. The signs were still up in the store, but the employees said to call corporate. After being on hold for 20 minutes and talking to 3 different people, they were no help either. They said they sent out a memo to pull all of the shelf stickers because it was a mistake and were unwilling to do anything else. Gotta love Walgreens customer service…

Brenda you didn’t mention the annoying music that just makes you more upset while your on hold. Or the lady who offered to transfer the extra points you got the day before to your transaction today. Come on share the whole story…

wednesday stores where told to take down wrong signs on deodorant and new ones up, if the signs were still up the manager in the store should have honered it. the managers have bar codes they can scan to add points to someones card if something like this happens
