If you’ll remember, just a couple days ago I gave you all an update on the Walgreens Balance Rewards explaining that as of September 6th you’ll be able to sign up. So if you’d like to do so then just go here to register for your NEW Walgreens Balance Rewards Card. As an added bonus, just for pre-enrolling you’ll be entered to win 1 million FREE points! 😀

Still a little confused on how the Balance Rewards will work? Read my post here to learn more.

Where is the post explaining it? When I click the link for the 09/04 link I’m redirected to the old FAQ. 🙁

According to the employees at Walgreens, who just finished their training on the cards, the balance reward card is the equivalent of the CVS cards. For RR etc, you will eventually be required to have a card and scan it to earn your RR. This is to stop customers from simply making multiple transactions to get LIMIT 1 RR.

What will keep people from signing up for a bunch of different cards? I have seen that happen at the Rite Aid around me …

My best friend’s aunt works at corporateand specifically told me they put this in place because of “employee issues” -primarily because thousands of dollars in merchandise was being rung up from their stockrooms by employees instead of it being put out on the shelves to sell to customers!

I don’t know if employees just don’t listen or the trainers are bad, but this will not do anything about items being rung up in stockroom. It’s NOT tied to RR’s.

I’m sorry but how will a card stop this? Employees aren’t required to sign up for one lol

They are not required to sign up for one but if they want the points they HAVE to sign up. In fact, the employees had a sign up period before the shoppers 🙂

Its not too similar to CVS loyalty program. The executive from the airline industry that created the Frequent Flyer programcame to Walgreens . So, its a combination of ideas from the Frequent Flyer program combined with the program Boots has. Of course, they merged with Walgreens. If they tell us more at our 5 minute meetings, ill keep ya posted!:)

According to the new ad, you have to have the card in order to get the RR deals too. It states $2.00 RR with card and it also states sale prices will only be given with card.

Now, if you need the card to get RR then RR ARE tied to the card in some way and they can impose limits if they want. Whether they will is another question 🙂

When you click on the link to get info on the Balance Rewards Card, it just takes you to an old Q & A post about couponing at Wags! 🙁
