*HOT* Walgreens Friends & Family Day 15% – 20% OFF (5/11)

by Christie Bisbee on May 10, 2012

Fabulous news! I’m doing the happy dance over here. πŸ˜‰ Tomorrow, Friday May 11th is Friends & Family Day. You can print your coupons HERE to get 15% most purchases and 20% off of Walgreens brand merchandise! I’m super excited as so many already good deals just became great!

If there’s a Walgreens coupon involved, based on past experience then they will give you 15% off but not before the Walgreens coupon. Also be careful with any deals where you have to buy a certain dollar amount because your totals will be lower. Also be sure to check out in cosmetics to use the coupon. You MUST let them know you have the coupon before they begin to ring you up, so they can enter everything with the employee discount.

Here are some of my FAVORITE deals. I’ve included the new 15% off price and the new final price. Let us know what deals you plan to do and what scenarios you come up with! Happy Shopping! πŸ™‚

Hey Christie,

I just recently receive the $5 off of $35, can I use this with the 15% off coupon.
What I want to purchase is the sonic care toothbrush which is $39.00, then I have the $10 off coupon from the papers. Can I use all three to get my toothbrush down to $18. if so please explain how?

Thanks
Tee

I think that you might be able to. The 15% off is the employee discount. I would give them that first and the $5/$35 at the end. If you have a nice cashier it should work just fine, the register will take it. πŸ™‚

So, where do the Nice products fit in? Are they considered Walgreens brand?

Reply

If you click on the link to print the coupon, the in-store coupon states that the 20% is off the Nice products as well.

Hi Christie! I tried to email you via your contact info but it says your domain did not exist πŸ™

I first of all appreciate all you do- I love your site! I just wanted to add something to your post about the Playtex sippy cups on sale at Walgreens this week.

I did confirm this information with a manager, the first time it happened to be (months and months ago). They explained how the BOGO 50% off is calculated AFTER walgreens store discounts, coupons, etc. Here’s an excerpt of the comment I left on the original post about the Playtex BOGO 50% off deal-

***Just FYI when you use any walgreens coupons with a BOGO 50% off sale, they deduct the coupon amount from both items BEFORE the 50% part is calculated (even if you scan the coupon last, it recalculates)- so it will look like this:
5.49 + 5.49 -2/2 = 4.49 each THEN the 50% is calculated
– 2.25 (50%)
4.49+2.25 = 6.74 for both
-2.00 (two mfr q’s) = 4.74 for both, or ***2.37 each****
IF you use the Baby book Walgreens coupon as well, you don’t just deduct $1 from the end total- you have to redo the calculation:
5.49 + 5.49 -2/2 (wags q) -2.00 (wags baby q) = 3.49 each
– 1.75 (50% of 3.49)
1.75 + 3.49= 5.24 for both
– 2.00 (two mfr q’s) = 3.24 for both or ***1.62 each***

I left this information in the comments section for the Playtex cups, but wanted to make sure you were aware of it. Thanks again for all you do! Keep up the good work!

Thanks,
Lori

Lori – It’s funny because normally I have the same thing happen (there’s a recent Aveeno post that was like that) but this time I was at a store with new registers and it just took off $1 off each one – straight away. Does your store have the new or old registers?

Can someone please tell me what the coupon code is on the friends and family coupon? I’m on vacation and don’ t have a printer, my store will take the code number on the bottom of the coupon. Thanks!

coupon says 457100000230. πŸ™‚

Carolyn May 10, 2012 at 5:55 pm

Sure lindsay… it’s a long barcode, not a 4-digit Wags coupon code.
Here it is: 4 57100 00023 0
Hope this helps!

If you wanted the mobile coupon, their website says to text “MOM” to 21525, otherwise, the numbers provided by two other readers are the same as what it says at the UPC code for my coupons, too.

Reply

Kate May 10, 2012 at 7:01 pm

I texted MOM to 21525 and got a text back but when I click the link it says it’s password protected. Is that just because it’s not valid until tomorrow? I’m hoping so and that the link will work tomorrow.

If I want to use the 15% discount and the $5/35 do I have to be at $35 before or after the 15%? Im not sure how to plan my trip. Thanks!!

Reply

Christie May 10, 2012 at 7:41 pm

The 15% is basically the employee discount. So you’ll want to be at $35 after the 15%.

Reply

Mallory S May 10, 2012 at 7:34 pm

Oh! Also can I use walgreens coupons withthe 15% and the 5/35?

I am trying to get the different playtex coupons. I cannot seem to find the $2/1 when i go to the playtex site. Can you please tell me where I can find it on the site? Where can I find the walgreens baby book?

thanks!

Hi Christie!!!

I’m just wondering if we can use the LYSOL NO-TOUCH Qs from SS4/15/2012 with the LYSOL NO-TOUCH KITCHEN SYSTEM!? Thanks.

Reply

Christie May 11, 2012 at 12:37 am

You know – that coupon is confusing because it just says Lysol No touch system and doesn’t say which one or both or what? So, I had the All You coupon, so I used that just in case. But I think that coupon is ok to use.

Bonnie C May 11, 2012 at 10:34 am

I used the Lysol No-Touch Q from SS4/15/12 this morning with no problems

Jennifer B. May 10, 2012 at 10:42 pm

This may be a dumb question, but why did you say to check out in cosmetics? I don’t see any reference to needing to do that in order to use the coupon. Thanks!

Reply

Christie May 11, 2012 at 12:34 am

No such thing as dumb questions! πŸ™‚ The friends and family is really the employee discount and many Walgreens only are able to do the employee discount at the cosmetics register. So be sure to confirm at your store and let them know that you have the coupon before they start to ring you up.

Mitchell @ Frugal Finders May 10, 2012 at 11:07 pm

Quick question. Wouldn’t the $1/2 Dove Promises IVC adjust down to $0.85/2 after the 15% off? Which would make them $1.125 each? πŸ™‚

Reply

deanna May 11, 2012 at 2:37 am

i work at walgreens, and you can do the employee discount at any register you go to. I dont know why everyone always says to go to cosmetics other than that the cosmetic register is all sales based and must meet sales goals and the beauty advisors work off commission which really sucks when people take cosmetic items to other registers but thats a different story.

Reply

katy May 14, 2012 at 4:55 am

At my WAGS, they told me I either had to go to the photo shop or the cosmetics counter to use the 15%.

I’m ready to go to Walgreens today, (I think.) I always get in there even after all my planning and get overwhelmed, lol

Wish I had some of the coupons I used their earlier this week, but true that a lot of those items I bought earlier would probably be sold out by now. We’ll give it a go with what I do have. Happy Weekend everyone πŸ™‚

Christie, Thank you for all you do. Had a horrible experience at Walgreens as always. I am to the point, I am gonna quit going there and stick with CVS. I went in this morning to Walgreens, had not had time to print my Family & Friends coupon, so I went to the cashier and mentioned it to her. She knew nothing of it, played dumb. So she got the manager, he looked at me as if he were dumbfounded like how do you know about it. I said I didn’t have the coupon, could I pull it up on my phone, he said yes. Well of course it would load on phone, so I said can the cashier just do the employee discount when I check out. He said NO! Real short and ugly with me. Well I decided go get the 4 items you won’t. I go get 2 depends, and 2 glade sense kits. Go to register well by this time the cashier she has an attitude with me. She scans my items, I give her my coupons, it takes the depends fine, then it doesn’t scan the glade, so I say please take them off. So she starts to take them off, I get the total and pay. Well the price in my head seemed way to high for 2 packs of depends, so I just leave. Well I look after I have pulled off and she had not taken off for one of the glades, so I called and was so ugly on the phone to me. I am just tired of going to Walgreens and putting treated so bad because I’m trying to save some money. What is their deal. I am gonna stick with CVS, never have problems with them. Just had to get this off my chest!

Also one more thing, on each post you do on the CVS page, I don’t see a place to email it at the bottom of each daily post. It is on the Walgreens post. Could you add the email so I can email it to my friends.

Christie May 11, 2012 at 9:58 am

I’m sorry you had that experience! It sounds like that was terrible! πŸ™

Thanks for the suggestion on the CVS site. I will ask about getting the e-mail at the bottom of each post over on WildForCVS.com – I’m sure it can be done (just I don’t know how to do it myself :P).

This has happened to me several times at 1 Walgreens (too bad is the closest and the one that is well stack). In this particular they don’t like when you save money or use coupons, half of the employees/managers are so nice and the others are just mean. Too bad the manager in charge is not always there, she is in charge of other stores. I don’t like to complain but I have been thinking about it because I know that the store always win on sales and they get prizes, but if they asked me their customer service sucks!
When I call I will let her know which employees are the mean ones.
I prefer to drive a little more and go to other 2 where the managers are coupon friendly and allow separate transactions.

Jennifer May 11, 2012 at 12:30 pm

agreed…i go to a Walgreens a few streets over when there’s one across from my house for the same reason. Even there though, I only like the night shift manager and cosmetics counter cashier…super friendly and understanding, but the day shift manager can be a little “ehh” at times.

Reply

katy May 14, 2012 at 4:59 am

I go in when there’s one particular cashier working. She’s not there on Sunday or Monday, so I just stay away. This cashier is friendly and happy, knows about coupons backwards and forwards, and if she says a coupon of mine is no good, I take her word for it. I’ve seen people line up and wait at her register when they could have been first at other registers.

Just went an did this a little bit. I had the cashier scan the 15% off coupon first and it took off 15% on each item scanned after. The coupon didn’t beep or anything. I got a couple great RR deals for free with the extra discount!

Thank you so much Christie!!! Tonight I went and bought 4 Playtex sippy cups, 1 Lanacane, 1 Complete Solution, and 2 small boxes of Milano cookies.

I used the 15% friends & family at the beginning
1 – $1/1 Complete
2 – $2/2 Walgreens Playtex coupons
2 – $2/1 Playtex IP
2 – $1/1 Playtex
1 – $1/2 Milano
And I had the cashier type in the baby book code-it took $3 off, even though I bought 4, but I wasn’t going to argue.

After all of that I paid $14.20 OOP and got back $13 RR! I just paid $1.20 for ALL of that! Woo hoo! I was so pumped!
