Updates From the Field 2012!

by Christie Bisbee on January 1, 2012

Here are some updates from my trip today that will hopefully help your trip go a bit easier. this is kind of a long update this week! 😛

TYLENOL DEAL
Here’s a cool freebie! When you buy (2) of the Tylenol that are part of the Register Reward deal, you may get a Catalina for FREE Breathe Right Strips! The Catalina is good up to $7.49 for both the 10 or 12ct strips! Plus, some of you found Blinkies at your stores for $2/1 Tylenol Cold! Making these just .50 each after the coupon and Register Reward.

***DEAL IDEA***
Buy (2) Tylenol Cold 2/$10
(2) -$2/1 Tylenol Cold Blinkies
= $6, Get Back $5 Register Reward
= $.50 EACH + FREE Breathe Right Strips Catalina!

ALKA SELTZER DEAL
The Alka-Seltzer Plus is not working with the IVC coupon in the January book.

TRIAMINIC DEAL
Some of you are also getting the FREE Breathe Right Strips Cat when you buy (2) Triaminic products in the Triaminic deal! I didn’t purchase Triaminic (even though it’s a money maker I didn’t need it and thought I’d leave it for someone else who does) but several of you have e-mailed me that you got the Breathe Right Strips when you bought it!

***DEAL IDEA***
Triaminic Fever Reducer 2 or 4 oz. bubble gum 2/$10
(2) -$3/1 Triaminic Fever Reducer Pain Reliever Product, exp. 2/15/12 (SS 12/04/11)

BRAINSTRONG DEAL
These were NOT ringing up B1G1 like they should be (it’s in the ad). However I did continue to find the toddler vitamins on clearance for $6.89 and they worked with the $3/1 and the $5/1 Walgreens January Book making them FREE.

I know some of you are not finding the $3/1 coupon. Here is the booklet you are looking for, look on page 59, bottom left corner for the coupon.

So what deals did you find this week?! Let us know! 🙂

I purchased the sudafed and triminic deal today and didn’t get the catalina for the breathe right… guessing it’s a regional thing? I’m in Northern CA

Tracy January 1, 2012 at 6:40 pm

Karen, I’m in Nor Cal too and got the nasal strips Catalina when I purchased 2 Tylenol cold medicines! Hope this helps!

Atkins Day Break Bars are ringing up $4.99 (org. $8.99). Combined with the B1G1 and the $1.50/2 coupon, it’s a great deal!

I would avoid purchasing the boost rr deal and the digiorno rr deal together. I can’t be sure but I think they both fall under the nestle rr (pg 17 Jan. booklet). These are not advertised together but I believe they are tied together. I’m pretty sure I didn’t receive my rr for the boost b/c it fell under the nestle deal I was working also.

Christie January 1, 2012 at 6:53 pm

Yes Shannyn – You are right they were labeled as part of the same deal at my store. I wouldn’t buy them together either. Thanks for pointing that out. I noticed the tags at my store.

I purchased four Alka-Seltzer Plus products and they all rang up $3 a piece. Thus – they were free with my $2 off coupons and the Jan. book coupon. (I’m in Dallas, TX)

So the WAGS coupon for Alka Seltzer worked for you? I wonder why it’s working in some areas and not in others? Doesn’t make sense. They know me well at my store and do an employee discount for those that work at the hospital I work at because we have a prescription service for our patients through the store near my hospital so I will probably get it to work out somehow…I hate when things don’t go smoothly though…

I got the free breathe right CAT when I purchased 4 of the alka seltzer plus. Maybe it’s printing for any cold medicines???

I think Walgreens needs to get new cash registers. The girl had the hardest time not only ringing up my items but most of my coupons wouldn’t scan. And they did want to put in the number on the coupons. So I just didn’t buy 2 Axe, 4 Tylenol and 3 Bayer. And at the same time there were 3 people left and threw theirs items on the counter and walked out. They really need to do something about this…losing business like this only means closing their doors !!! Un happy in TEXAS

I purchased the Triaminic daytime in pink box that is pictured in the ad and I did not get a coupon for the Breathe Right. I am in VA.

Reply

Abby Craig January 1, 2012 at 7:33 pm

The deal on the Breath Right is not for Triaminic, its from the Tylenol Cold Medicine. HTH!

Reply

Christie January 1, 2012 at 7:49 pm

Abby – a few readers have e-mailed me that they got it when they bought Triaminic and they did not buy any Tylenol. So… it’s a bit of a guess!

I just went and grabbed a few of the tylenol cold medicines and then used the RR to buy my sunday papers on another transaction (I did 4 transactions since they weren’t busy and the cashier knows me anyway), and got the breathe right freebies from the catalinas that printed… awesome day! Wasn’t expecting to see this… was kinda nice!

Reply

Becky January 1, 2012 at 7:46 pm

I assume no one knows of this either because my store was stocked with them and only 2 were missing… I only bought 4 (should get us through the cold season)… I will go back later on in the week and buy more so others can get some too!

Jen January 1, 2012 at 7:50 pm

I received the coupon for the breathe right strips from ct

Peggy January 1, 2012 at 8:02 pm

I am in Alabama… I did three transactions. In the first one, I bought Triaminic, Advil Congestion, and Alka-Seltzer Plus. I tried to use the Alka-Seltzer coupon from the January coupon book, but the register would not allow. The Advil rang up at $7.99, but my cashier was happy to adjust it to the correct price. Most of the coupons beeped… I’m not sure what was going on but the cashier was very friendly and helpful. I did get the Breathe-Right freebie though! In my 2nd transaction, I got Triaminic and Advil Congestion… no Breathe-Right coupon this go around. In the last transaction, I only got Triaminic and again no Breathe-Right strips. I am all stocked up on cold medicines now and for what it’s worth the Triaminic Thin Strips are awesome for kids! I used the register rewards from all the cold meds to get Dasani water, Special K bars, and Gatorades. The trip was a little bit of a hassle, but I left with everything on my list… I think I spent about $43 pretax and got about $140 worth of items.

The Triaminic thin strips are AMAZING!!! I am hooked on using them with my 3 boys b/c they are easy, the kids like them and they work super fast 🙂

My Wags had a tear pad by the Triaminic. I ran out of $3/1 for Triaminic last month on their deal. So today I was thrilled to find a tear pad with $2/1 for Triaminic. So it wasn’t a moneymaker for me, but made the Triaminic only $.50 each. Check your shelves at your Wags!!!

I did 5 transactions including the triaminic fever, lichi probiotic, SAMe, sudafed PE, and nestle and got clearance makeup for $22.44 oop and saved 194.37. I purchased the toddler brainstrong for 6.89 clearance. They did not ring up BOGO, but used the Jan IVC for $10 off making them 1.89 each. Also, did the kids brainstrong for 12.99. They did ring up bogo and the Jan IVC took off $10. I could not find the booklet by the pharmacy or the vitamins. I asked the cosmetics girl, pharmacist and the manager. No one could find it, but only paid 2.99 for 2 kids brainstrong. I was happy for the New Year’s savings!

Also worked on Theraflu. I got the one with the green cap and out popped a free Breathe Right cat. Since there is a $2 ip and a $5 gift card rebate this is a fab deal.

I’m in Arkansas and did receive the Free Breathe Right Strips when buying the Tylenol Cold Medicine. The weird thing is that I bought my newspapers in a separate transaction and received the Free Breathe Right Strips as well….. My store had the $2/1 Tylenol cold med blinkie, so I was very happy with that. My favorite deal wasn’t advertised though, certain Almay eye shadows are on clearance for $2.19 and my area received the $2/1 Almay cosmetic product coupon (I think it may be regional not sure)….so I paid .19 for eye shadow, YAY! Oh and one more thing, I bought the Advil Congestion Relief and it rang up for $7.99 so check your receipts on that. Had a great day today!

I got the Brainstrong for kids today (got 4 total), and my dgtr said “ewww mom, they taste like fish guts!!!” and shes not a picky girl either! 🙁 They rang up $12.99, 2nd box $0.00- used (2) $3.00 off from Vitamin and Supplement book and $5 off from WAGS Jan Cpn book, making them 2 for $1.99…money apparently not well spent! 🙁

Reply

Lunise January 1, 2012 at 8:53 pm

My son said the same thing! I tried it and I must agree. I’m now stuck with six boxes. Not sure if I should donate my “fish guts” 🙂

Jennifer January 1, 2012 at 9:44 pm

I purchased 2 of the Kids Brainstrong as well. Mine rang up 1 at 12.99 and 1 at 0.00. Used 2 of the $3 off from the Vitamin coupon book and the $5 off Jan coupon book. I expected it to be adjusted down to $7.99, but when it scanned it took off the full $10- making it a $2.01 MM!!

I got the Breathe Right Catalina from purchasing the Alka-Seltzer. Also, my store manually put the IVC through so it was a little moneymaker for me! 🙂

Anyone who would like to donate the brainstrong to my little girl it would be appreciated! My daughter has a severe heart condition and is g-tube dependant so she won’t taste the fishy taste. I bought some of the little fishy omega burstlets by Kids Smart when they were on register award a while ago and I’m on my last bottle. My local store didn’t have any toddler or kid’s Brainstrong and the next closest store is about 15 minutes away. I would be very grateful 🙂

Christie January 1, 2012 at 9:29 pm

Crystal – the toddler ones are like a powder that you mix in water, would those work for your daughter? If they would e-mail me. christie @ wildforwags.com (take out spaces).

I’m a little swamped but I’ll make it to the post office eventually.

Wendy January 1, 2012 at 11:45 pm

I have several of the toddler Brainstrong that I could send to you. Please email me at [email protected]

If anyone has Rogaine coupons that are not needed, my 24-year-old daughter sure could use them. She is losing her hair, and her dermatologist has recommended that she try Rogaine. I too would be very grateful.

I tried the Brainstrong deal a coupoe weeks ago with these same coupons…My store wouldn’t take both coupons since they were both walgreens coupons 🙁
I ended up paying a dollar and something for them.
I mix the packet into my son’s milk and he does not seem to know it’s in there.

I went back later because I cashed out my rewards points for the program that ended here yesterday… had $10 worth that I hadn’t cashed out yet. I went back to see if I could get a few more bottles and low and behold someone had gone in and bought 34 bottles (literally… that’s how much they said she bought). she cleared out the triaminic too… everything that had a RR attached to it this woman cleared out. I have never seen anyone do this before, but we haven’t gotten RR really until this week because we got points instead. from what they said, she was in there a good 2 hours doing transactions. Guess that teaches me to go in the minute they open or go to the 24 hour store we have to make sure I get it! lol

Deborah January 2, 2012 at 1:00 am

I those cases, I am all for limiting the purchase of products that have a reward, that store should not allow that kind of haul. One thing is you trying to stock up for your family and other thing is clearing shelves without any consideration.

My best deal was the Old Spice body wash, which was 2/$7 plus buy one get one 50% off which made one $3.50 and the second one was $1.75 and then I used (2)$2 off coupons so that left both of them costing $1.25 or 62cents a piece. I also bought the TheraFlu Warming for $4.99 & had $3/1 coupons and recieved the free nasal strips! This is one of my first trips so I was a little nervous, but was pretty pleased with how it worked out!

FYI…don’t know if it’s everywhere, but my store had Herbal Essence CONDITIONERS (only conditioners for all of the lines, but shampoos were regular price) on clearance for $1.09 each…and they still print the RR. So they are a money maker w/the $1 off one coupon from the P&G insert and the $1 RR back. I got 2 since that’s all the coupons I had.

They also had all the White Rain hairspray marked down to 25 cents….so I just used a couple of those for fillers.

Becky January 2, 2012 at 9:30 pm

I went back in today and grabbed a bunch of the pantene shampoos, conditioners, and hairsprays they had on clearance for around $3 each (there’s still some left). I used the 3/2 and then they were BOGO 50% off. Ended up making them $1.50 for 2. Got 6 of those, 4 covergirl lip glosses that were clearance for 2.29 (used 2 of the 2.50/2) and 1 herbal essences gel that was 2.99 (used 1/1 and then got $1 RR). I had $10 RR from the tylenol I actually did get last night and spent $3 OOP. Receipt said I saved almost $70! Oh, also got 2 reeses for fillers for the RR… those didn’t make it home. lol

Brenda January 3, 2012 at 6:10 am

Here’s a tip for those of you that are purchasing the tylenol cold products. If you get the Tylenol Cold – Sore Throat variety (blue liquid), the only active ingredient in it is Tylenol. I doubled checked and 1 tablespoon is equal to 1 extra strength Tylenol pill, so you can use it just as you would with the pills. I was happy to find this because I have plenty of cold medicine stockpiled already, but really wanted the Breathe Right coupon. If you decide to do this Please double check your bottles for the list of active ingredients, the multi symptom varieties include additional ingredients that you would not want to take just for a headache!

Reply

Christie January 3, 2012 at 11:02 am

What a great tip! I bought 2 of those and didn’t notice! That’s awesome – I was actually running low on Tylenol. I seem to have lots of advil, aspirin and aleve but no Tylenol. I find some stuff works better for some types of pain and others work better for others. thanks so much!

Reply

Brenda January 3, 2012 at 7:20 pm

I have a ton of Excedrin but sometimes don’t want the caffeine that’s in it so I can use this instead!
Also, an additional tip regarding the breathe right coupons. It didn’t print out for me today when I just bought 2 of the sore throat varieties in 1 transaction. Yesterday I got 1 sore throat and one multi-symptom and it worked fine. Maybe the Mult-symptom variety is the trigger?

I bought the Atkins bars. They rang up 4.99 (reg. 8.99)with the B1G1 deal and used 2 $1/1 5 packs making them 2.99 for 2 packs. I was so excited i had to do another transaction.

I read through all your comments, but didn’t see the answer to my question. What is the Tylenol Blinkies? I don’t know where to get this coupon unless it’s on a tear pad?

Reply

Christie January 3, 2012 at 11:45 pm

Hi Kristi – a blinkie comes from that little machine pictured in the post. We call it a blinkie because it comes from a little machine that has a Blinking light. 🙂 Many readers are finding these in front of the Tylenol Liquid at their stores.

Just FYI.. I found 2 different “answers” books… 1 had the Brainstrong q in it… The other was different and had a $5/1 osteobiflex q in it….. Combined with the $7/1 manufacturers coupon and b1g1 sale = FREE osteobiflex!!!!!

Reply

Deborah January 5, 2012 at 12:54 am

Jessy, I wish you were right but I just checked the 2 vitamins books and both coupons are manufacturer’s coupons, so you cant combine them.
