Never Too Late to Go After Your Dreams!

by Christie Bisbee on May 28, 2011

I don’t do this often, but I wanted to share with all of you a really cool experience I had recently. I attended a really neat event hosted by Sleep Innovations where I had the opportunity to meet 12 time Olympic Medalist, author, motivational speaker and all around amazing person and mom, Dara Torres.

It was truly amazing to meet her, she was just delightful. Down to earth, funny, polite, just a really all around cool gal! After her Silver medal at the last Olympics, she said she hasn’t ruled out going for the Olympic Swim team for 2012. She would be 45. I know I’ll be rooting for her if she does! 🙂

Dara is the is a spokesperson for the (very comfortable) REJUVENATION pillow. It totally conforms to your body, ensuring the perfect fit for everyone.  She also has a NEW book out “Gold Metal Fitness: A Revolutionary 5-Week Program”, where she shares her passion for fitness and health, and part of that is good quality sleep. I’ve been using my pillow since I received one as part of the Mother’s Day Grateful Giveaways event and I love it!

(From Left to Right: Koupon Karen, Nicole’s Nickels, She Saved, Me!)

I also had the opportunity to meet some other fabulous Frugal Bloggers who also attended the event. It was really a nice event (thank you Sleep Innovations for the opportunity) and a great reminder that it’s never too late to go after your dreams!

How exciting for you! That is so awesome! Christie, this is off the subject, but I wanted you to know what you have done for my son! Not only have you saved us so much money, you have helped my 13-year-old son get interested in reading. Awhile ago, you posted about a free comic book. I looked up where to go and set out with my 3 boys, not knowing what to expect. Well, we were able to get 4 free comic books each! My oldest read his so fast and could not wait to go back to the comic book store to buy some with his own money. He ended up spending $10 (half of which was from a friend that he also got interested in reading them) for about 40 books! I cannot thank you enough. I’ve tried everything to get him to read. I’m just thrilled, and I wanted to let you know!

Oh my gosh Lani! I am SO happy to hear that! I can’t wait to tell my husband, he’s going to be so excited. He has read comics his whole life and that’s how I knew about it! You just made my day. 🙂

Christie,

Thanks for a great blog and the inspiration. I had a great day at Walgreens today and one of the nicest cashiers. I was at the makeup counter and said, “I love coupons and I have a hunch that you do too,” and pulled out a bunch of different coupon books for me – the summer beauty guide, a suncare guide and a Coppertone tear-off. Yay! Plus (between 3 stores) I got six boxes of crackers, some coffee and donation items without clearing any shelves. My total out-of-pocket was less than $1.
