Updates From the Field 2/6

by Christie Bisbee on February 6, 2011

Here are some notes from my trip that hopefully will make your trip a little easier.

LYSOL NO TOUCH HAND SOAP DEAL
Luckily this seems to be working properly this week and ringing up at the correct price as listed in the ad ($11.99) vs. the $14.99 it was ringing up last week. So if you held off on this deal last week, you can go for it now.

Get $7 RR WYB Lysol Healthy Touch Hand Soap System 8.5 oz. $11.99
-$3/1 Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System PRINT
-$3/1 Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System, starter kit – 01-09-11 SS x2/8

= $1.99 EACH

KOTEX DEAL
The U by Kotex products, although the correct size, were not ringing up as part of the 3/$9 deal. No problem. These are on sale next week so hold on to your coupons till then.

GARNIER SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
I had to do a void of the Garnier because although they rang up the correct price the bonus packs that were larger did not produce the Register Reward. I don’t know if you’ll find the same at your store but to be on the safe side, steer clear of them.

NEURAGEN DEAL
I’m happy to report that the Neuragen is still printing the $10 Register Reward. My store even had signs up today! The trick now is finding a Diabetes & You book. These are now in hard to come by as more people have figured out the deal!

BUY
1 – Neuragen PN Pain Relief Topical Solution $14.99
1 – $10/1 Neuragen PN 0.17fl oz. or Gel – Walgreens Diabetes & You, Winter x3/31
TOTAL = $4.99, Get Back $10 RR
= $5.01 MONEY MAKER! :-)

UNILEVER DEAL
You’d think that Skippy was made of gold! I couldn’t find peanut butter to save my life.  They didn’t even have any in the back. If you are going to do this deal you may want to visit a store with less traffic or maybe go while everyone else is watching the Super Bowl.

A note about the Skippy….I recently found out that Walgreens actually have the Sunday sale prices available on Saturday night. I called ahead and they told me prices are available after 3:00 on Saturday. The good news: no one knows this, so I was able to grab my 6 (they limited to 6) Skippy and Ragu last night. Plus the other items that they typically run out of due to the RR. The bad news: the register rewards dont print out until Sunday, so you have to wait while they price adjust. And please dont attempt this at 9:45 pm, it makes for unhappy sales associates.

Thanks for sharing this information, but What do you mean by “so you have to wait while they price adjust.” How does this refer to not getting the RRs until Sunday? TIA

how can they limit you to six when it takes 10 to get the rr?! my store actually only had 6 on the shelf, but my awesome cashier (i always make sure to check out with her on sundays) told me neither of their trucks came in last weeks b/c of the blizzard…. & this is the first sale item ive wanted to buy on sundays that they havent had, so ill let it slide lol 😉

@ Francoise
Many managers will do a price adjust on the item if the RR won’t print. They’ve figured out that most of us will just return the item rather than risk waiting 6 weeks for the catalina company to send it to us.

For me last night it meant that on the Huggies deal they rang up 2 @ 8.99 each and 1 @ 3.99 to account for the the $5 RR I wouldn’t get back. Much sweeter deal than having another RR that counts as a Q in my book!

Not all Walgreens ads start early. I was in last night at 1 am, and they had to price adjust everything for me.

I’m wondering if anyone in the test markets have tried the NEURAGEN deal? I haven’t found any signs at my local stores and don’t want to buy it and take the risk that we don’t get the $10RR.

I just wanted to mention that I had some troubles today. I was buying 3 of the garnier hair color and 2 of the hershey’s drops. I had it planned perfectly to use a $5 RR to pay but it beeped. We could never figure out the problem so I finally succumbed and added a candy bar to push it through. I looked at the receipt later and realized that the $2/2 store coupon from the February coupon book is coded as a MFR coupon and that’s why I had reached my coupon limit and the RR beeped. So make sure to plan for this if you want to do that deal.

@Elizabeth the IVC coupon does say MFG but it doesn’t count as one. You probably had a coupon for each of your garnier and the drops were 2 off 2 so that covers 2 items, not just one.

@Drew 24 hour stores change early in the morning on sunday but stores that close earlier (i.e. 10pm) change around 7 or 8pm on saturday.

Right, but I had 5 items and 4 MFR coupons, so it should have gone through with no problems.

@Elizabeth no, it shouldn’t have. Two of your items were attached to one coupon. $2 off TWO items. You will need a filler.

The same thing happened to me with the beeping. I bought the dawn and gain soap and hershey dropps. And my last coupon beeped and I had no clue why so I didn’t push the issue. Guess that could make sense now

@Guest – I understand your logic, but I’ve never had that problem before. I’ve only been couponing for a year, but I do it every single week at Walgreens and CVS. My understanding all along was that the attachment didn’t matter at all, just the amount of coupons, and this is the first time I’ve ever come across this problem. In the past, IVC coupons and in ad coupons have always come off as “WAGC” on the receipt, not “MFRC”. Here is the language from the coupon policy: “The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register RewardsTM manufacturer coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction. The total value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction. Sales tax must be paid, if required by state law.”
What am I missing?

Happy day in Wagville as I skipped out the door with 6 Ragus, 4 peanut butters, 6 Hershey’s “drops” candies, 5 2-pk Breathe Right strips, 3 Herbashines, 4 Oxiclean powerpacks, 2 Vday pencils, 3 Trail Mixes, & 2 Colgates for a total oop of $8.99 + $15 in RR so I can skip right back in there next week!

Elizabeth- just what the guest said. A coupon that is $ off 2 items attaches itself to both of those items, not just one item. In the system, it still shows that a coupon has been used for both items so you would need a filler.

Does anyone know if the Neuragen RR deal is just last weeks or for the month like the Lysol no touch soap.

Thanks.
