Updates From the Field 10/3!

by Christie Bisbee on October 3, 2010

Here are a few updates from my trip today that hopefully will help you on yours!

V-8 DEAL
You can get an even better deal on the V-8 this week with a surprise $1 RR. Rita over at Chi-Town Cheapskate let me know that both she and her mom got a $1 RR when she purchased (2) of the regular V-8. I tried it on the V-8 Fusion and it worked too! So here are your (2) choices for this deal…

NIVEA DEAL
Sadly for me I had no Nivea coupons in my insert. Oh well.  My store was (as a result of there being no coupon) swimming in Nivea. I found them in the skincare isle with the other Nivea products, over by the lip balm and in a display near cosmetics.  Seriously, my store must of had 70 Nivea Lip balms.  Looks like I’ll have to order a few coupons!

EOS LIP BALM DEAL
The only EOS lipbalms that worked for me were the ones advertised – Honeysuckle and Summer Fruit. The other types (lemon drop and sweet mint) did not work for the Register Reward deal. I was able to return them with no problems but I wanted to be sure since, stock for the EOS was rather low.  Looking forward to trying them though!

(Thanks Rita’s Mom & Chi-Town Cheapskate!)

My store had oodles of the EOS lip balm, only in the 2 flavors with the RR. Not only were they with the other lip stuff, but on several endcaps throughout the middle aisle and on several strips by the cosmetics display cases!

But the Nivea, boy was that hard to find! It was not with the other lip stuff, nor with the other Nivea body products. I finally spotted them in the back of the store, on an endcap close to the pharm drop off counter. There was a special display of cough/cold meds & tissue and off to the side were 4 lonely Nivea, 2 shimmers and 2 regular blue ones. I bought 2 b/c I only had 2 coupons from All You. I didn’t get the coupon in my insert either 🙁

My stores had very little Nivea too. (We had the coupons in our RP) But I did note that some of the lip balms were expiring or expired already! So do look out for the expiry dates if you do find them. I think it was the strawberry one.

And I had some problems with the starbucks vanilla frap (only this flavour). Apparently the computer doesn’t recognise it and didn’t take off the value in the weekly ad. Strangely, I had no problem with the IVC. I got my refund but not before the manager tried to figure out what was wrong. I’m not too sure if he even solved the problem, but he just gave me back the missing balance.

Does anyone know if Walgreens will do rainchecks on these if they are out, for the Nivea I mean?

I purchased the 42 ct. Prevacid on sale for $25.99 w/ a $5.00 off coupon and a catalina printed for a $25.00 dining certificate. It is stated in the ad. It is for a free $25.00 restaurant.com certificate. I know they were just a buck, but this was an excellent deal!

Adam – Sometimes I’m so focused on posting deals that I forget to print stuff until it’s too late. So that’s why I always say print when you see it! Sometimes I need to be reminded too!

I asked for a rain check for the nivea since they only had 2 and they called the manager to write it and when I got to the car noticed he put a limit of 2 which was not in the ad… A cashier at a different store acted shocked when she saw I owed nothing after buying 3 niveas – i pointed at the newspaper and suggested see got one to get 3 free! Amazing how people that work there have no clue about this! Needless to say this was a perfect sale (if store is stocked)since the coupon matches the price perfectly! And no tax for me!

I think the Nivea $2/2 is attaching to both items so that you can’t use it as a filler item. I bought a razor, EOS and 2 Niveas. I used the $4 schick Q, the $2/2 Nivea Q, and a $2 fullbar RR and a $3.50 Emergen-C RR. The 2nd RR beeped but after explaining that I had 4 items and 4 Qs and would still owe them money he agreed and pushed it through. Be prepared to add another filler if they won’t agree everyone!

Cricket: The cashier was not supposed to do that; if the coupon states it’s off 2 items, you have to buy another filler because that counts as covering two products…

Didn’t get the $1 RR for the Fusion, but still got it for 1.50 each. When the cashier finished, she said, “Wow. How did you do that?” I referred her to your website 🙂

no nivea at my store and I blew it and bought the lemon EOS.. but, Safeway had Nivea lip balm on sale for .99, so it was free there too!

Cricket, thanks for the explanation of the $2/2 Nivea Q counting as two items. I thought I had planned everything perfectly with fillers, and was surprised when my last RR beeped. Makes sense now!

I also didn’t get a $1 RR for the V-8 Fusions, but $3 for both was still a pretty good deal!
