Friends & Family Discount is HERE!

by Christie Bisbee on August 2, 2010

Yeah! The Friends & Family discount is finally available! You can find it on Facebook HERE or their website HERE. It’s good Monday August 2nd to Wednesday August 4th and will give you 15% off eligible store items and 20% off Walgreens and W Brand products!

Just remember if you are doing Register Reward deals like the Pampers or the Nestle deal you’ll need to reach the dollar amount that triggers the Register Reward. Don’t let that throw off your scenarios! Happy Shopping. 😉

I printed it out, but I couldn’t read the sentenses under the coupon. Is this apply to the RR items like Alive too? If so, I just pay $8.50 instead of $10 and get $10 RR? TIA!

Reply

Christie August 2, 2010 at 1:56 pm

That would be correct Karin! If you have the $1/1 Alive coupon in my match ups you’d pay $7.50 and get the $10 RR! Just make sure if you are buying something with the 15% off and you have to reach a $ amount that you reach it AFTER the 15%.

if I’m doing multiple transactions, do I need more than one of these coupons?

Reply

Christie August 2, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Hi Amanda, yes you will need one per transaction.

What does the fine print about using it at “photo or cosmetic registers only” mean? Can I not use it at regular checkout?

Reply

Christie August 2, 2010 at 3:46 pm

The registers are programmed to give the 15% employee discount at the cosmetic or photo register only. So since that’s the discount you are getting you’ll have to checkout at one of those registers. So don’t checkout at the front, they’ll just send you to cosmetics or photo.

Christie,

Is this how the scenario would work with all of the discounts?

3 Visine @ $11.97
less 15% -1.80
MFQ -3
InAd -6
AugIVC -6
Overage= 4.83

Reply

Stacia August 2, 2010 at 3:48 pm

the IVCs adjust themselves, so the overage isn’t that high. 🙁
I bought 4 visines today.
They rang up 3.39 each with FF discount
the in ad coupon took off 6.80-WAGC
the other one says 8.00-MFGC
I am not sure why it worked that way, because my total for visine was only $13.56.
I had many other things to cover the $1.24 overage

Reply

Stacia August 2, 2010 at 3:50 pm

sorry Jamie, I read too fast and now see that you also have 3 $1Q from inserts. I guess your overage would be high like that! SORRY

Karin August 2, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Thank you for the reply, Christy! I’m planning to hit another store this afternoon, and this is my scenario:

Buy Alive vitamin:$10
use $1 off coupon & 15% off F&F
=$7.50 & get $10RR

then,

Buy 2 Visines:$7.98
Buy 2 Benadryl:$16.98
Buy Rembrandt 2hour Whitening Kit:$21.99
Buy 3 Rembrandt Toothpaste:$23.97
Buy 6pack Paper Mate color highlighter:$0.19
Buy 2pack Pink Erasers:$0.29
Buy Kleenex 3-Pack:$4
Total after 15%off=$64.09

use 2-$1 off Visine coupons
use 2-$1.50 Benadryl coupons
use $3 Rembrandt coupon
use 2-$1 Rembrandt coupons
use $5 Rembrandt 2hour Whitening coupon
use Visine In-Ad coupon(takes off $4)
use Benadryl In-Ad coupon(takes off $6)
use Rembrandt In-Ad coupon(takes off $10)
use Rembrandt In-Ad coupon(takes off $9)
use Aug.coupon booklet(Visine:takes off $4)
use Aug.coupon booklet(Benadryl:takes off $6)
use $10 RR from above
=$0.09

What do you think?

Reply

Christie August 2, 2010 at 4:51 pm

Karin – That’s impressive! I would say, go slow and watch each item to make sure the IVC takes off the correct amount. Sometimes the in ad coupons do funny things when they are using the employee discount. Not the Aug. Booklet those will be fine but the in ad qs will adjust down by 15%.

Carol – 1 coupon for your whole transaction, present it first.

couponscarol August 2, 2010 at 4:16 pm

The F&F coupon says limit 1 card per person per purchase…does that mean for your entire order (3 Pampers and 3 Visine) or just for 1 of the items? I think I know the answer, but I just want to be crystal clear b/f I go & not have enough Q’s. Thanks

Karin August 2, 2010 at 4:19 pm

Forgot to add ‘In-Ad coupon for eraser’.

Reply

Karin August 2, 2010 at 5:36 pm

Christie, yes it looks too many to put in one transaction.lol And I noticed from Stacia’s comment, it looks Aug IVC also deduct 15% off! So regular in-ad coupons will work as it should be, but IVC ones will be lower discount with F&F discount.

Karin August 2, 2010 at 5:50 pm

Okay, I messed up.lol I thought WAGC means Aug booklet ones, but it is in-ad ones I think..

I just got back from Walgreens with 2 great deals. 1st deal I bought this:
Penway pencils(filler) .08 (with 15 % Q)
Complete contact 6.79(with 15 % Q)
– $2.00 complete coupon
– $3.00 Register Reward
Total 2.02 and got $8 in register rewards back

2nd deal:
2- Papermate highlighters .16 each (with 15 % off)
1-Penway pencils .08 (with 15 % off)
1-Complete contact 6.79 (with 15 % off)
2-Benadryl allergy 48’s 8.07 each (with 15 % off)
1-expo marker 8 pk 3.39 (with 15 % off)
-2.00 for complete contact manufacturer coupon
-6.00 for benadryl IVC coupon
-5.10 for benadryl Walgreens coupon(I think this is not $6 because of the 15%)
-4.00/2 Benadryl manufacturer coupon
-1.00 expo marker coupon(worked even though I did not buy the washable as Q stated)
-8.00 in register receipts(not the one from the previous transaction)
Total .62 and got $8 in register rewards back)

Grand total–they paid me 2.36 to take all these items!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you wildforwags!!!!!!!

I presented my 15% off coupon after all my items were scanned and the cashier told me the register says that it has to be presented first, before any items. So, he had the transaction voided and did it all again. Worked like a charm the second time. This is my first time with this kind of coupon from Walgreens. Is it always presented before any items?

I had a bit of trouble with both the in-ad and the IVC Listerine Qs. Neither worked for the total care (purple) products. The cashier was kind enough to manually enter them and was a little upset about it not being programmed to work. After all was said and done I got $58.00 worth of stuff for just under $10 and got the $3 MIR for the Crayola markers. It was frustrating, but well worth the effort.

rashelle August 2, 2010 at 6:58 pm

At my store when using my discount, the register will take the discount off the in ad coupons but not on the monthly book.
For example, when they had the expo markers on sale for 5.99 with my discount i paid 5.10 i used the 1.00 off printable and then the coupon from the july coupon book and it took off 3.00 so i paid 1.10
But when I use a coupon from the ad for an item being 99 cents it makes it .85 or like with the visine today it took off 1.69 not 2.00

Reply

rashelle August 2, 2010 at 6:59 pm

Cathy yes, you have to show the coupon before any items are rang up when using this. And if you don’t then yes it has to be voided by a manager. Just for the next time you use one.

Oh my gosh! I rocked! My OOP was 6.99 for 170 bucks in products, plus got back 21.00 in RRs! I did NOT need multiple coupons to get the 15% off, they just had to manually give it to me as a employee discount anyway. I could have done my transactions better but I guess I wasn’t really figuring the 15% off, lol and it FUBARed my totals. So I ended throwing in random filler items that I didn’t need, but I still did good!! This turned out to be an awesome week! Now if I could just get my hands on more Alive coupons.. lol

Christie August 2, 2010 at 10:03 pm

Brittany – The in ad Qs will take off 15% less than their full value (not the booklet coupons) but otherwise you are good!

Don August 2, 2010 at 10:30 pm

Love the site! It’s been a HUGE help to me! Will the Kellogg’s 2/$5 – $2RR work with the 15% off or is it one of those that you have to reach the $5 level to trigger?

Reply

Christie August 2, 2010 at 10:58 pm

Hey Don – Glad I can help! 🙂 The Kellogg’s you just have to buy (2) so you’ll be good!

Reply

Stacia August 2, 2010 at 10:46 pm

The Kelloggs works just fine! You just have to buy 2. If you have $1/2 prinable, then your total will be $3.25 and you’ll get back 2RR! That is some cheap yummy mini wheats!

What is the deal with REMBRANDT?

also someone above said they had a $2 off complete eye solution? where did they get that the ones I had expired on 7/31

thanks

Christie August 3, 2010 at 9:21 am

Adam – There was a Complete coupon in a booklet from Safeway back in May that I think is still good. The only other coupon I’ve seen going around for Complete is (and I find this rather funny) from Canada and intended to be used in Canada only. I think some people may not have noticed that the bar & code is nothing like ours and it’s a Canadian coupon.

Reply

Francoise August 3, 2010 at 6:50 am

I used the fans and family coupon last night at one of the regular registers (the only one they had open) and it worked just fine. FYI!

Stephanie August 3, 2010 at 9:33 am

Heather, show us your transaction =) Also, is the Rembrandt $5 coupon gone? I can’t find $5 off or the $3 off.

Reply

Christie August 3, 2010 at 10:14 am

Steph – They have been on the Rembrandt site forever, look under special offers.

Reply

adam August 3, 2010 at 1:16 pm

Christie I found the Canadian complete coupon will that work?
Also what is the deal on rembrandt

Reply

Karin August 3, 2010 at 2:40 pm

adam, this week they have in-ad coupons for $3off(with F&F coupon,$2.55off) when you buy Rembrandt toothpaste and $10off(with F&F,$8.50off) when you buy Rembrandt 2 hour Whitening kit. And if you have $3 off toothpaste coupon & $5 off whitening kit coupon from Rembrandt’s site(looks they are both out of print now), you can stack with Wags ones, so those make a pretty good deal.

Reply

Deanna Z August 3, 2010 at 8:10 pm

I was the one that obviously used the Canadian coupon. I saw that the code was not like ours, but I was not aware that it was a Canadian coupon. I used this coupon at two different Walgreens, and they both put it through manually–which I find kind of funny because my Walgreens are usually very picky about the coupons I use.

Jenny August 3, 2010 at 11:50 pm

Hi Christie, I just went to a Walgreens close by where I live, and they wouldn’t let me use the FF coupon nor the Alive coupon because they said the coupons were printed from computer and that NO WALGREENS will take a print out coupon anymore due to many frauds. They were quite rude about that too. How the heck can I get the FF coupon if I don’t print it from facebook? The cashier was backed up by the manager who said the same thing. Can I call the corporate about that?

Reply

Christie August 4, 2010 at 1:23 am

Yes, I would ABSOLUTELY call corporate about it! How else could you use it. AND they also sent out the F&F coupon today to non-facebook users. Geez you’ve really got some rocket scientists at your store!

Reply

Jenny August 4, 2010 at 11:45 pm

Hi Christie, I came to the store to talked to the store manager today. I told him that I already talked to the corporate too about this. He said that he never even see the coupon and didn’t know about it because he does not have facebook account. He thought that the FF coupon is only good on 8/4 only because on their website it says only on 8/4 the discount works. It really amazed me how they as employees don’t even know about their own promotion. If customers like us do our homework, why can’t they do the same? They need a better communication and lesson about couponing. I hate using coupons and be treated like I’m a thief!
