I have actually found that stores are much more willing to price modify the item up rather than adjust the coupon down. When I ask a cashier to adjust a coupon down they usually look at me like I’m nuts. However, when I ask them to price modify an item, they all get it.
I’m perfectly happy with Walgreens making an extra $.01. It’s really a win win for everyone. I’m happy I have my FREE deodorant, Walgreens is happy they made a $1 and the manufacturer is happy because now I’m going to try a product I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. So if your store has been reluctant to adjust the coupon down, try asking them to price modify the item up. It never hurts to ask. 😉

I agree… most of the stores around me will not adjust a coupon down but will adjust the item up. But I had one store say they aren’t allowed to adjust the item up because it messes up their inventory LOL
I think they are all clueless and make up whatever they want!!!
However, I have never not been able to use a coupon for less than the item, they have either adjusted the coupon down or the item up or pushed it through so I won’t complain too much!!!
**as a note, I always let them know before ringing the items and coupons up so they can call the manager over ahead of time instead of holding up the line waiting for the manager after the coupon beeps.
I told my cashier to price mod mine up before she scanned but she just scanned the coupon to see if it would work. It went through without beeping.
My travel section is really small so our store puts all the travel deodorant next to the regular size deodorant of the same kind, in the deodorant aisle. This is where I found the Degree for Women. I saw the same was true with the travel sized toothpaste.
