Walgreens has rolled out a NEW rewards program available ONLY in 3 test markets…
– Richmond, VA
– Kansas City, MO
– Portland, OR
If you are in one of these markets you’ll want to go HERE to read more about the Walgreens Rewards program and you’ll want to sign up to get your card.
According to the FAQ for the program, you may use Walgreens Rewards Certificates along with other Walgreens or manufacturer discounts or promotions. (That’s the most important part! 😉 ) You’ll earn points for purchases and most prescriptions that can be redeemed for various prizes. For those if you in those markets let us know what you think once this program gets up and running.
As for me, I’m not even going to bother hypothesizing what this might mean for future Walgreens shopping since we don’t know how the “test run” will go and we don’t know ultimately what will happen. For now I’ll just keep enjoying all the great savings and keep bringing you the best Walgreens deals!

Just signed up for my card. Will let you know how it goes once I get it. I am curious to see if the stores will know what to do with it.
All I hope is that this does not mean they will impose limits on how many things we can buy like CVS…that is the main reason I shop Wag’s and not CVS…with a large family, I hate limits because they usually are not enough for us.
I’ve got my fingers crossed too!
me too! I really hope they don’t start putting limits on things..:(
This may not be a popular response, but there could be some value to limits, if they are reasonable. A limit of 1 or 2 is just ridiculous, but it is kind of a bummer to have to rush to the store on Sunday just to make sure you get something. Of course, if they would just get more stock in, it wouldn’t be as big of a deal either 🙂
The thing that sucks about limits is big families, or, for example, I usually pick things up for my mom and sister too. I just hope they do something reasonable, this could lead to lots of frustration!
Hi! I live in one of the test areas (KC). Just wanted to update you all. Walgreens awards points based on how much OOP you spent. So for those cool ecotrin deals from last week where they were $2 on sale with a $2 coupon, no points were awarded on that transaction. So, in the month that I have had my card, I have only earned 160 pts.
Yuck!
