My Wags Trip $.76 Out of Pocket

by Christie Bisbee on March 30, 2010

I wasn’t going to post a pic of my Wags trips from yesterday but I’ve had some requests from those of you used to seeing my trips over at Big Fat Piggy Bank. So, here it is!

A few rules I follow, I NEVER clear shelves, I usually limit myself to 2 of an item per store (unless they have a ton of something) and if there is someone behind me in line after 1 transaction, I move out of the way and go back in line. I went to 3 stores for these transactions.

I started with only $23 in RR and ended up with $57 in RR.
I spent a total of .76 cents out of pocket (oop) plus tax.
So after my oop costs this was a $33.24 money maker before taxes!

I love this but really kinda confused!!! So how much do I have to start out with to “make” something back?

Glad I went yesterday before the dove stop rolling. My cashier was friendly and made several transactions so I didn’t have to go to several stores. I did pay $16 oop because I bought a lot of items that weren’t giving rr that I needed to buy but I did end up with $24 in rr. Oh, and I did pay and then went to the back of the line when she had more customers. She also put in some coupons she had for the beauty items I took. I did get a chance to get 8 dove but there were stocked at the beauty register and the aisle. I gave two to my mom and 2 to my mother in law.

Just a heads up….I got some off mosquito repellent for just $1.49 marked down from $6.97 and they were marking down some home decor as well vases, baskets, wall mirrors, scones for 50% off

Forgot to thank you Christie for posting all the deals and making it a lot easier for me to shop, with twins I don’t have time to do the math and your scenarios were perfect!

I know this is bad but everything I take my twins the cashiers are super friendly…asking questions about them and asking how difficult it is to take care of two that they always either help me out with more coupons or if the register beeps they still discount it —-FYI I always tell them they don’t have to do that!

Seeing it does make a difference. The reason I started checking out bigfatpiggybank was because of your pics of Wags deals. Must have for this website! Thanks!

Great deals, Christie! Hey, I tried to do some of the same transactions as you’ve shown, but ran into problems with having more coupons than items. I was also told RR count as a coupon. Is that right? For example, your first transaction has 11 items, but 12 coupons (and if you count the RR as coupons, you have 15 coupons and only 11 items); the register beeped and the cashier said I needed to buy more items or not use some coupons. It was not a matter of which order I gave coupons b/c the only wags coupons I used were for the mushrooms-all the rest were manufacturer coupons. I ended up paying for some expensive water instead of getting it free. Which, I walked in with $10 RR and walked out with $24 RR and only about $4 oop (not as well as you and some others, but respectable for a beginner). Still, what did I do wrong? I think I need to go back and review your FAQs. Thanks for the help.

Hi Rachelle, Yes RR count as coupons. That’s why you’ll see I buy a lot of inexpensive fillers, like the Easter bags. So even though those bags come out to be about $.13 they count as an item. So if I want to buy 10 items and have 10 MQ AND I want to pay with 2 register rewards, I’ll buy 2 cheap “fillers” like the Easter bags or cups, or cheap candy to have extra items. So when you see the ad and I list “good fillers” those items are inexpensive items (usually under $.33) that you can buy so you can use more RR to pay. And Wags coupons don’t count in your transaction. Sounds like you had a great shop regardless, so keep up the good work and you’ll be a Wags genius in no time!
