I saw $2 off peelies on the tampons in wal-mart. What’s the couponing etiquette concerning taking a peelie and then buying the product elsewhere? I didn’t take them b/c it felt kinda weird but for a $1 moneymaker….

Personally, I wouldn’t do it. I think that unless you are using the peelie in the store that it is in, and for the product that it is on, that it isn’t right to take them. And technically, I guess it can be considered theft (ok, well that is what the signs at one of our local stores says, I’m not sure if this is actually true or not-probably depends on your state)

I personally think it is stealing, but if it comes out of the little black machine hanging in front of it, it is not stealing. Publix have a lot of these.

I think it is really up to you. I mean, depending on the deal, I might take one or two – it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the correct thing though.

With regards to it actually being theft, I think it would be hard for the store to file that, as coupons are considered a $0 item and cannot be sold by themselves (hence all of the disclaimers when buying clipped coupons that you are paying for the services of the clipper, not the coupons). I’m an accountant and I have audited a few manufacturing clients – all of whom are required by law to have all of the millions and millions of coupons marked as $0 on their books.

According to the CIC (coupon information corporation) saying you’re only selling your time, etc. will not hold up in court..it’s still illegal to sell coupons no matter what type of disclaimer you have 🙂

Seriously – if they could come after coupon clippers in court – don’t you think ebay would be shut down by now?

I love my coupon clipping service and I’m not ashamed to use them.

How many are you planning to take?? IMO, if you rarely do that and your only taking 2 peelies, that’s fine (especially if you shop at the Walmart often).

I rarely take peelies or blinkies. I may take 1 or 2 every so often. The otherday, I took 2 Hawiian Tropic and 2 Banana Boat $2MQ’s from Wags; it felt a little wrong, but I am a returning customer to that location.

Otherwise, if you removing a lot of peelies, that’s a no-no.
