Happy Free Comic Book Day! Today, Saturday May 5th, is FREE Comic Book Day! For years now comic book stores around the country offer a FREE comic book the first Saturday in May as a way to spread the word about reading and about comics.
One thing you may not know about me is that in my house we really love comics! We have a fabulous family comic book store near us and we always look forward to FREE comic book day. it’s super to see young people excited about reading and sometimes, it takes Captain America to make that happen.
Youβll want to go HERE to see if any shops in your area are participating. Youβll be able to get at least one comic book totally FREE, no purchase necessary. There are comics that are appropriate for all ages, so really something for everyone. You can preview the books available (not every store will get every book) HERE.
This year we have an Avengers comic, (which I’m sure will be SUPER popular), Star Wars, Transformers, Spider Man, Smurfs and many others. Hubby will probably go for theΒ Avengers and I’ll go for Buffy! π

Thank you! We went and were able to get 3 comic books for my Nephews π Plus, I got to live out Big Bang Theory in my head LOL
LOL. Yes, it’s a little like that! π
Thank you sooooo much for posting this! I wouldn’t have known otherwise and would have missed out on some great comics. It was a nice surprise to find that the Star Wars one is a double issue with SERENITY on the other side!! They even had a Sponge Bob one too. The kids are very happy today. π
Oh AWESOME on the StarWars/Serenity combo! Glad you grabbed them. π
Christie — Thanks so much for posting this! Last year, this was just the ticket that got my oldest son reading! And I have you to thank! We had a blast again this year! Thanks again!
Hi Lani – always great to hear from you! I’m glad you were all able to enjoy it again this year! And hope your family is doing well. π On another note, didn’t you adopt a dog a little bit ago? Hope he or she is doing well too!
Oh, wow! Yes, we did, on Black Friday when the local shelter was running a special that dogs were just $17! He’s doing great! It took some getting used to (for me only). I like a nice-smelling house, and I have a bionic nose (my family says), so I’m always looking for ways to take away that “dog scent,” which no one else can smell but me (so they say)! But it’s wonderful that he was already house-broken, since he was 4-years-old already. He looks like a Malti-poo (white and tan) but he’s actually a Chinese crested (but not the hairless kind — he’s fluffy) mixed with a poodle, they think, so my kids named him Mooshu! We’ve had him almost 6 months now! How incredible of you to remember! I just love you!
So glad to hear he is doing well! Sounds super cute. I grew up with dogs and I love my kitties but I do miss having a doggie. π
