Can u still earn the 5000 points on a previous transaction? I just went on Sunday and spent $50. So I would love to take advantage of this!

If you use your points Tara, make sure its on a RR deal or plain sale deal because if you try to use them to get a deal that offers points, you wont get the points! I have over 70,000 points and have done this a LOT.

I am a walgreens employee and would like to let people know that if they use a RR to pay for something that earns points, then you will NOT receive points! I’m not sure if this only happens if you use a RR to cover the whole transaction or what but my coworker had a transaction done several times and finally decided not to use the RR to pay and it finally gave her the points. Watch your points people, if the system is offline you will NOT recieve points either (your receipt will say offline at the bottom), make sure when you leave the store it credits you, otherwise you will have to return back.

Alison, I use RRs to pay for points all the time! I only have seen no points when I PAY for points – the RRs are constantly used for points and you get them just fine! When calling corrporate, they very specifically said you can use RRs on points items and get points for as long as they offer RRs. However, if you are grabbing a points deal, and pay with points, you will not get them. Every transaction I have done- and I have over 70,000 points now, has worked perfectly when paying for one item with the opposite bonus. THat is, pay for points with RRs and pay with RRs with points.

Maybe it was my employee discount that was triggering this then. Like I said, I’m not sure how my coworker did this but she noticed that she wasn’t getting any of her points until she tried the trasaction paying with cash and no rr. It was for the ID gum and her rr was covering the whole transaction.

grace September 25, 2012 at 10:42 pm

I paid for that gum using RR and still got the points

Amber September 25, 2012 at 4:24 pm

You can use RR’s to pay and still receive points. Also if the system is offline you will still earn your points it will just take a couple of days for it to post to your account. Since youre an employer try this the next time the system is down and your checking people out. Instead of scanning the card have them enter their phone number. For some reason even if the system is down if a phone number is entered instead of scanning the card points are credited right away.

Will wags coupons count off the total amount, ie if I wanted to buy Cottonelle with the q in the monthly book would it count toward my total before or after the monthly q?

I’m wondering the same thing. I’ve been looking on lots of different websites but I can’t find anyone who has posted about using the in-store coupons and getting the 5,000 points. I’m hoping we have to reach $30 before any manufacturer coupons AND the in-store coupons, but I can’t find any info about it yet. Hopefully someone will try it!

Samantha September 25, 2012 at 9:29 pm

The in-store Cottonelle coupon DOES deduct from the $30. It’s $30 after Wags coupons but before mfr. coupons. I tried it today, and unfortunately, ended up $3 short of $30 because of the Cottonelle coupon taking off $3!

I bought $34 worth of stuff had them scan my card then gave them my coupons. Got my oop down to $15. I paid with RR got make RR but if I were to use RP it would have canceled out the points I was to receive but I didn’t and received 8,000 points. 🙂 good deals today

did 3 transactions today at 2 different stores. and scored great deals, not to mention I earned and used my $5 from my points! hooray!

Catie September 25, 2012 at 4:00 pm

The cottonelle deal would be great for building up to the $30 if you need the toilet paper 🙂

Can you do this more than one time? More than one $30 transaction and earn 5000 points for each one? Or is it one per card?

Reply

Kayla September 25, 2012 at 6:19 pm

I did two transactions today and got 5,000 for both. I wonder if we can do more than 2 though.

Reply

Alex September 25, 2012 at 6:13 pm

Is it $30 before or after taxes?

Reply

grace September 25, 2012 at 10:44 pm

before!! ALWAYS before

Reply

Kayla September 25, 2012 at 6:18 pm

Does anyone know how many times you can do this? I did this twice today in separate transactions, but I’d like to go back tomorrow to do it again if possible. Anyone know?

Also, in case anyone’s curious, I did these:
Gilette Fusion ProGlide Razor System ($9.99)
3M Air Allergy Advanced Nasal Filter ($9)
FRS Energy Shots 2pk ($3.99)
2 Herbal Essences Shampoo/Conditioner ($3 each)
2 Candy bars (0.59 each)
Total: $30.16
-$3 BOGO Herbal Essences Shampoo
-$4/1 Gilette Fusion Proglide Razor
Total OOP: $23.16
Get:
5,200 Points (~$5.20)
$9 RR, $2 RR, $4 RR, $4 RR
Total “profit”: ~$1

I spent $32, used coupons. It dropped my total below the $30 and did not receive the 5000 points. No where did it say that it had to be $30 after coupons and RR.

Reply

Kayla September 25, 2012 at 6:40 pm

I used coupons and RR to get my OOP under $30, and I still received the 5,000 points. Are you sure you didn’t purchase something that wasn’t “qualifying” for the $30 like stamps or dairy?

Reply

Lindsay S. September 25, 2012 at 6:43 pm

Did you use any in-store coupons from the little booklets at the front of the store? I’m wondering if those are going to affect the total or not.

Reply

Samantha September 25, 2012 at 10:21 pm

In my experience today, it DID affect my total when I used the in-store coupons.

Reply

Marlene September 25, 2012 at 6:41 pm

If you purchase items that already give you 5000 points, does it give you additional 5000 for the $30 purchase??

Reply

Brenda September 25, 2012 at 11:36 pm

Marlene,
Yes you can purchase items that will give you points and you will still receive the 5000 bonus points, just don’t pay for your purchase using your points that you already have. You won’t earn points on transactions that you use points to pay for your purchase.

Reply

sandra September 25, 2012 at 8:45 pm

is this for anything in the store as long as its 30$.

Reply

Tracy September 25, 2012 at 9:02 pm

I did not use any points in my purchase and I called corporate and they told me the same thing. Because I went below to the $30 I was not entitled to the 5000 points. I told her there was nothing stating that you had to spend $30 after coupons and RR and she just apologized but there wasn’t anything she could do.

Reply

Kath September 25, 2012 at 10:06 pm

I bought $32 before coupons and was told by the manager that since my total after coupons was under $30 I would’nt get the points.

Reply

Natalie September 25, 2012 at 11:22 pm

I bought 2 of the charmin packs that were $14.99.I purchased a filler also which brought my total to $32.47.I used a $5 and a $2.50 RR to pay and I earned 10000 points.

I have linked my AARP card with my Balance Rewards card and today I got an extra 5,000 points so a total of 10,000 for this transaction:
1 Air Allergy = 9.00
1 Gillette Fusion Razor = 9.99
1 Gillette Mach 3 Razor = 10.49
3 Nice Tomato Sauce = $.87
Sub Total = 30.35
– 5.00 Gillette Fusion MQ
– 10.40 B1 Fusion G1 Gillette Mach 3 Razor MQ
– 4.00 RR
– 3.00 RR
– 3.00 RR
– 2.00 RR
OOP = $2.86
and received 9.00 RR, 4.00 RR, and 2-5,000 points (one from AARP)
KACHING!!

Ok, Christie, can you help us with this?

I called corporate, and they told me that the 5,000 points from spending $30 wouldn’t show up for 5-7 days because on special promotions like this, it takes the system a while to analyze everyone’s transactions and issue the credit. I hope that’s not poppycock.

Anyways, my subtotal was $30.42, however I had $1.50 in store coupons.

Christie, is my 5,000 points going to show up in a few days? If not, will corporate give it to me if I call and complain?

Reply

Christie September 26, 2012 at 9:36 pm

I’d call in a few days and ask them to add it if it doesn’t show up.

Jan September 27, 2012 at 8:02 pm

Vanessa,

That sounds odd. I did the $30 for 5,000 point deal twice yesterday and both times the 5,000 points showed up on the receipt.

As others have pointed out, there are exclusions like dairy, alcohol, tobacco, and the like and the subtotal (before tax and manufacturer coupons) had to be above $30. If your transactions with Walgreen’s store coupons and not manufacturer coupons had a subtotal of less than $30 you are out of luck.
