I was just at my walgreens in Houston, TX and the lady in front of me did the P&G deal but her 10 RR didnt print out. The manager was called and he confirmed that in order to get the 10RR, your total needs to be $30 after MQs. He voided the sale and did it again with an additional item and then the RR printed. She didnt have any Gain in her transaction so I cannot confirm about the additional RRs. Did anyone else have this problem of reaching the $30 mark after Qs to get their RRs??

Christie September 11, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I just did this deal myself (the scenario posted with the paper towels) so, no I didn’t need to reach $30.

Did you see exactly what she bought? She may have bought an item that wasn’t included…? Not all P&g items are included.

Did she buy the red bottle of gain detergent vs. the original green?? I know that I tried today, and the $10 didnt’ print when I bought the red, but it did when I bought the green.

My 8/28 PG only has -.25/1 Bounty Paper Towels. Is this a regional difference?

Hi Colin – Yes there is.

I have tried to do a few of these transactions where you had to spend x-amount of dollars. Every time I have tried (I live in NW Florida), the RR will not print. I’ve tried 3 different stores, and the mgrs have all said it has to be THAT amount AFTER coupons. Is this true?? I have asked on several coupon boards if this is typical policy, but I haven’t gotten any answers. THANKS!

I did a similar deal with Tide a couple weeks back when the $2 Tide/Gain coupons were expiring on 8/31 for the $10RR and it worked just fine. I am in the Austin, TX area. Here check out the posts from people asking a similar Q on that transaction. It sounds like some have had luck if the cashier hits subtotal BEFORE they deduct the coupons then the RR will print. Hope this helps 🙂

Did you try rolling this $10 RR from the previous gain deal into this week’s scenario? Just wondering if using it would cause this transaction to not generate a $10 RR. I still have my $10 RR from that gain deal 2 weeks ago and would love to roll it into this week’s P&G promo.

don’t do it…. the rr will not print.

i had a problem with the RR printing this morning. my kind WAGS manager and I figured out it was the Clairol hair color and root touch up that was NOT trigger the RR. He rang up 5 of them and sure enough, no RR.

Of course the week I order my coupons online, which means I wont get them until mid week….sigh

I got Charmin, Cheer, Gain and Olay (body wash). My total was $34 before coupons. I had coupons for everything in my order. I got the $10 RR. 🙂

It was a good day today – the nasty cashier that usually waits on me must have been off – whoo hoo!!

My laundry stock pile is pretty full, but I cant turn down this deal! I only have 2 of $2/1 powder q’s so here is what I am going to do: buy 2 powder detergents, buy 2 liquid detergents and buy 2 bounty 6 pks. Pay $23 oop and hope to get back $16 in RR. If they dont all print, I will be the idiot that does a return 😉 Will let you guys know if it works out for me. Btw, I am in NY.

Reply

Zain September 11, 2011 at 3:09 pm

Thanks Christie for the reply. No, I checked. She had everything that was included in the offer. But I’ll try it for myself and give you feedback. … without reaching $30 and then after reaching $30!

Thanks Zain – dluvsfreebies let us know the Clairol root touch up and hair color weren’t working in her store for the RR so stay away from that one!

Okay, my Wags scenario is kind of hard to parse, because I needed to buy something not in a deal (and used an RR to cover part of that) and my husband texted me while I was shopping that we needed milk. And I was also doing the Scott Naturals thing. So, it’s complicated. BUT: I got the 10 RR for the P&G deal – and then I got another 2RR, from Cheer. I bought the liquid cheer using the 1$/2 coupon. So basically the transaction was something like this
1 Cascade gel packs @ $4
1 Cascade gel packs @ $4
1 Cheer liquid detergent @ $5
1 Cheer liquid detergent @ $5
1 Bounty 6 pack @5.50
– (2) $1/1 cascade
– (1) $1/2 Cheer
(no coupon for Bounty, I’ve already used the ones I had)
so – OOP = 20.50
Got back 10RR for P&G deal, 2RR from Cheer.

(not some kind of crazy freebie deal, but not bad, I think, especially since we needed paper towels – 8.50 for 2 laundry detergents, 2 packs of dishwasher tabs and a 6 pack of good paper towels)
I still have no idea exactly why I got the 2RR from Cheer, but I got it for the liquid. 🙂

Reply

Christie September 11, 2011 at 4:02 pm

Oh my gosh – I might have to go back out to try buying Cheer and Gain to hit the $30 to see if I get $10 RR, a $2 RR, a $3 RR and a $3 RR. LOL. Oh my gosh this Gain deal is killing me. 😉

Reply

Laura September 11, 2011 at 4:54 pm

What was the amount of register rewards that printed for the Cheer? Were they $2 or something else? Thanks so much, heading to walgreens!

Reply

Mindy September 11, 2011 at 5:03 pm

But according to your post, your total for P&G items doesn’t even come to $30. How did you get the $10 RR????

Reply

dina September 11, 2011 at 5:43 pm

Oh crap, you are totally right. SORRY SORRY. I just reread my receipt and I also bought two GAIN liquid and that is what gave me the 2RR. I feel like a loser, sorry. I meant the GAIN liquid and I said the cheer (I also bought the cheer.) Like I said, it was a terribly complicated transaction and I was confused when I left.

Reply

Christie September 11, 2011 at 5:54 pm

No problem Dina – Thanks for letting us know. I was considering heading back out! LOL. I’m actually glad it didn’t because I have to do some house cleaning, I’ve been running around trying laundry soap deals all day. 😉

Reply

dina September 11, 2011 at 7:49 pm

I’m glad you didn’t head out – I would have felt bad if you had. I did a lot of coupon shopping today at various stores besides Wags and yeah…my head is still spinning. And I HATE that Wags receipts don’t tell you what the coupon was for and mark RR’s as “manu coupon” so it can be really hard to reconstruct what you actually did.

Reply

Britney September 11, 2011 at 10:33 pm

Isnt that the truth 🙁 everytime I go in there i get confused I went to Rite Aid and CVS got everything no problem then here comes Walgreens 🙁 I bought one Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Bowl cleaner $8.99-$4.00 MFR Coupon – $3.00 Air Wick RR and a 9 cent pencil (Just to cover the RR as a MFR coupon) = my total would had been free = the $2.00 RR that was supposed to print out. The manager refused to let me use my RR’s because he said my $2.00 RR would not print at the bottom of my transaction he said it was not allowed and I am almost 100% it would have I had a product for each of the coupons/RR’s, I even pulled out the Coupon policy 🙁 he would not budge and it was the manager on shift:( I get so much trouble from WAGS, he even admitted he was confused by the policy… any advice?

Reply

anthony September 12, 2011 at 9:34 am

can you tell me how/why you got the $10 RR for P&G when you only spent $23.50 and $20.50 OOP. I thought it was suppose to be for at least $30. Just trying to understand.
Thanks

Christie September 12, 2011 at 10:58 am

$30 Before coupons. 🙂

Reply

Suzanne C September 11, 2011 at 3:50 pm

Both my daughter and I did the P&G RR this morning, and the RR would not print. In my case, the store manager came over, checked my sales slip, and corrected it by ringing one item up enough times to meet the P&G $30, and it printed the RR. Some of the Walgreens people near me are awesome-very helpful with RR deals and even offering extra coupons occasionally!

Reply

Sharon September 12, 2011 at 7:54 pm

My Wags manager had to do the same thing!! I went to another wags and there were no problems….why does this happen. However I do believe all of us trying this Gains deal in my area cause all the cash register to fizzle out in the last wags. Had to leave my item in cart and came back later. Couponing is a JOB!!!

Reply

Marlo September 11, 2011 at 3:54 pm

Can I use the $10RR from last P&G tide deal for this one? I don’t want to use them & not have the RR not print out. Thank you!

Reply

anna September 11, 2011 at 4:25 pm

I had a great experience at walgreens today. The cashier and manager were awesome !!! They did not carry the 30 loads Gain powder (the 40 loads rang up for $11.99 or something like that) so they rang up 4 of the 30 loads liquid Gain even though I told them I had coupons for the powder. So I got (4) 40 loads powder Gain, (2) 6 rolls Bounty = $31. Used (4) $2 and (2) .25 cts. Paid oop $21.50 and got 10+3+3 RR Thanks Christie for this awesome deal 🙂

Hi Christie, I went out this morning and got:
3 – Gain liquid @ $6 each
2 – Tide Stain Release Pacs @ 4.50 each
1 – Bounce Dryer Bar @ 4.50 each
used:
(3) $1/1 Gain
(2) $2/1 Tide
(1) $2.50/1 Bounce
OOP – 22
Out printed $10RR and the $3 Catalina reward. I didn’t get the other $3RR… do you know why? Also, is that bonus catalina just like a RR? It counts as a MC but i can use it towards anything?
I’m in Hawaii so prices are always higher here 🙁

Reply

Christie September 11, 2011 at 4:33 pm

Hmmm, Jess I’m not sure. I’m not even really sure where the other $3 Gain RR is coming from. I know the “unusual” looking one is from the Catalina offer but the other one remains a mystery. Yes the funny looking $3 one is good just like a regular RR however it does say not valid on P&G items.

2 ($2/1 Gain)

Total: $20 OOP, plus $16 back in RR!!

Went to my Wags to get the Gain detergent (we are out, and my dad was waiting on a good deal). HOWEVER, they were out of the powder, so I did the liquid and 2 dish liquids. As I got to the register, there was a lady that had 12 (yes, 12!) of the powders and doing 4 transactions. (This is probably the reason I couldn’t find any newspapers on my end of town!) Of course, I did have to say something about her clearing the shelves. The cashier (who I absolutely ADORE!) Even made a comment to me…”Yeah, you usually do one on Sunday, one on Thursday, and then check again on Saturday.” My reply, “That’s because I give others the opportunity save money, too.” I know…I was a tad rude. BUT, I just couldn’t help myself. :/

2 Dish Liquid (2-$.50/1Q Gain)
3 Downy (1-$1.50/2Q Downy P*G sept)(forgot the $.50/1)
1 Oral B TB ($3/1Q)
1 $2 Colgate RR
Paid $23 bef taxes got back $10 P&G RR, $3 Gain RR & $3 Gain Catalina all this at about $.80 each : )

I was desperately out of toliet paper and did this deal (works great if you have the coupons that either came in the packs of Charmin Sensitive or Bounty a while back):

2 Tide Stain release @ $4 each
2 Charmin Toliet paper @ $4 each
2 Gain Powder laundry det. @ $5 each
1 Gain Liquid laundry det. @ $5
Total before coupons = 31.00
Minus
–(2) 3.00 of ANY Tide stain release (from above mentioned either TP or PT packs, not sure which).
–(2) 1.00 Charmin (also from one of the packs)
–(2) 2.00 of Gain Powder
–(1) 1.00 of Gain liquid
total paid $18.00
received back a $10 RR, and (2) $3.00 RR (so, $16.00 back)
So, in the end, I paid $2.00 for all that!!

Did the Gain here in SLC UT and it worked like a charm. Hard to find the powder though. I got the bounce bar thing and used the $2.50 off from the mail, i can’t remember where i got it but it came with two $1.50 off the bars too. you can use the Dawn that is $.99 but make sure you get enough to total the amount you need. I only needed $4 more to hit $30 but since the dawn are $.99 i had to buy five (four of them would have only been 3.96) BUT i had $.50 coupons off of each one. Also, i hit Riteaid today and they had the bounty paper towels for $5.99 (used a $1.00 off coupon)and it came with $30 of P&G coupons inside, one of which was $1.00 off charmin, that’s hard to come by!

Valencia September 11, 2011 at 6:31 pm

The $2.50 Bounce Bar coupon was probably the Vocalpoint one that came in the mail.

Does anyone know if the Crest with a RR is also working for the P&G? I’m going tomorrow and trying to wrap my head around all of these great deals.

Reply

Tara September 11, 2011 at 7:07 pm

The Crest is a seperate RR, it won’t count towards your P&G items. If you do the P&G & the Crest though you’d end up with $10RR and $3RR, even more RR’s if you include Gain items towards your P&G.

Reply

hotmamacoupon September 13, 2011 at 1:57 am

no it is not included.

Reply

Tara September 11, 2011 at 7:03 pm

Here in NY I did the P&G deal twice. First time, I bought 3 Gain items with my other P&G items and got $10RR for P&G, $3RR for Catalina and the additional $3RR that is printing.

Second transaction I bought only 2 Gain Detergents with my other P&G items and got the $10RR, $2 Gain Catalina and a $2RR for Gain.

So my best guess is, from doing 3 and then 2 Gain items, is we are for some reason getting $1RR additional for each Gain item. Who knows why, but I like it! 🙂

I chose to buy 1 Gain liquid for $5 and 2 Gain Dishsoaps at $2.19 each. Used one $1 coupon for the Gain Laundry soap and used two $.50 coupons for the dishsoaps. Total was $7.89 and I received my 2 register rewards for $3.00 each so I got it all for $1.89. Even the cashier was shocked. This was in the St. Louis area. Thanks for the heads up on this deal!

Regional deal. I live in the burbs in N. Cali and work in SF. This week, the $5 gain detergent is in my east bay ad but not in the SF ad. I typically have to bring my east bay ad so the SF wags can price match (the cashiers are always pleasant about this but they will take your ad away). This sometimes works to my advantage because it leaves plenty in stock cuz it’s not ringing up as a sale item =)

I have not used coupons before at walgreens so im a little confused… when you buy the items and the register prints out the RRs do you use them for that transaction? or are they for your next transaction?

Reply

Tara September 11, 2011 at 11:22 pm

They are for your next transaction. And keep in mind you can NOT use that RR to pay for the same item, another RR will not print. For example – if you get an RR for Crest, use it on a Colgate transaction next, not another Crest or you won’t get it.

Britney September 11, 2011 at 11:30 pm

exactly all of my items were different, different sales for different products (all my rr’a were for different sales) the manager still would not help 🙁 post above any advice

Reply

Dianne September 12, 2011 at 12:00 am

He should have tried it. It would be your problem if it had not printed and from what you posted there is no reason it shouldn’t have. It if did print he would be informed. Go back to a different cashier. Use the survey on the receipt to let WAGS know. Item to MQ/RR ratio is one to one 1:1 and that what you had 2 items:1 MQ 1 RR (2 MQs)and not using the same RR to buy the same item. No brainer for my thinking.

I found it at the larger locations not the smaller stores as they dont have as much product variety.

I bought two gain dishwashing liquid, 4 olay bodywashs, and one Gain liquid in the red bottle(they didn’t have the green bottles), my 10 rr didn’t print but other 2 3rr did, and pleaded my case to get my $10 in cash for the rr not printing. What they did was refunded two bodywashes and then marked them as $1 for me to buy so I got $10.xx in cash back and have 2 3rr to spend next week

well i read everybody’s comments & walgreens is such a pain in the butt, that is why i have not been there since summer began, i couldnt take it no more, the nasty managers/cashiers, the registers always beeping & me walking out confused & upset, so i had 2 take a break from walgreens (ive been going 2 cvs all summer, better deals & nicer people), but with this GAIN deal & P&G deal im gonna give it a shot, ive got my coupons ready, im gonna make it real simple all gain detergent (ive got 6/$2 off coupons, so im keeping my fingers crossed it all goes well, if it does i should get the $16 RR, ill keep u posted when i go & let u no what happens.

After going to two stores & speaking with SM’s this deal is super sweet but a no go in my neck of the woods (northern California). Neither wags had the gain powder or were willing to accept the $2/1 gain detergent with the liquid. Maybe next time…..or at competitor cvs!

I just got the deal in San Antonio with the following:

1 Tide Powder ($5/used 1-$2 Q)
3 Tide Liquids ($5/used 3-$1 Qs )
1 Tide Stain Release ($4/used 1-.50 Q)
1 Oral B Battery Toothbrush ($6/used 1-$3 Q )

Got back $10 RR, $3 Gain RR, extra $3 Gain Catalina and a $2 off coupon for Oxi Clean.

$21.50 after coupons plus $.73 tax. Used $10 RR (from last week’s Nova Max blood monitor). Paid $12.23 out of pocket.

$22.23 – $16RR = $6.23 for everything. I also got a very kind cashier, and best of all NO REGISTER BEEPS!!!

This deal was awesome! I’m set with detergent now. Thanks so much for everything.

I just purchased 3 Gain liquid detergents, 2 Tide stain release, 2 Gain dish detergent, and 1 Bounce bar for the deal and some other items–used coupons and register rewards and receivd the $3 RR and $3 Catalina but not the $10 RR. The manager range up my purchases for the deal again (total was $30.58 before tax) and still no $10 RR. I put in a call to Catalina and hope to get my $10 RR i the mail.

@ Lora; The Gain dish detergent is not part of the RR deal. get 3 or 4 Dawn instead of the gain dish.
Today I got 3 Gain clothes detergents, 3 Cascade, and 4 Dawn. Had $9 in coupons, got back a $10 RR and 2 $3 RR’s.

I could be wrong but I don’t think the Gain Dish Detergent is included in the Buy $30/ Get $10RR promotion. Hope this helps.

I asked for the other one and he says, ok, you can have this one and takes the other one away from me…. grrr….

What? How presumptious!!! you should have taken his name and report him to Corporate. Actually, you should go back there, ask to see him, ask for his name and let him know that you will be reporting him to corporate. That will give him something to think aabout. He will ive you your reward quick. WTH?

ditto for me on the deal not working … I bought $31 worth of P&G stuff (Gain laundry, Gain dish liquid, & Cascade. The (2) $3 RR printed but the $10 RR did not. The on duty manager first said the total had to be after coupons to which I told him that was not true. He then said because I used coupons for P&G products, I wouldn’t get a P&G RR. I asked him how did I get the (2) $3 RR if this was the case? I told him to void the entire transaction, return all my coupons, & return my check. I left without anything except a big dose of frustration & a firmer committment to stay out of Walgreens! I then went to CVS & bought (8) 4.5# bags of Puppy Chow, 2 Pantene shampoos, 1 Herbal Essence shampoo, 2 Softsoap body washes, 1 pantyliner, 2 boxes tampons, & 2 Nestle crunch bars & spent a total of $10.36 oop after coupons & ECBs. Plus, I have (2) coupons for a free box of cookies/crackers for my next trip. This made my Wags fiasco a distant memory!

The gain dish detergents are not included in the P & G deal. That’s why you didn’t get the $10 catalina.

My walgreens doesn’t have the powder gain detergent @ 5 =( they only have the liquid one! I live in Florida maybe thats why? I was very excited about this deal

Reply

Christie September 13, 2011 at 1:34 am

I’m in Florida too. Some stores carry it some do not. You can still do the deal with the liquid, it’s just going to cost a $1 more because the coupon for powder is $2/1 and the Liquid is $1/1.

yea so, i rushed from work to 2 walgreens and got this deal. I bought 4 Gain powder detergent and 2 oral b spinbrush toothbrushes. Total was 32.00 used 4 $2/1 gain and 2 $3/1 oral b toothbrushes which brought it down to $18 and i only got the $3 RR from gain. The manager told me the p n g deal had to be $30 after mq. Whatever, why are some people getting the deal and some not????? Guess I will be the smuck that takes it back ttomorrow. I swear I did this deal a few weeks ago when it was the Tide powder and it work with my total being less than $30 and I got my 10 RR???

Jennifer September 13, 2011 at 8:20 am

You have to ask the cashier to hit the subtotal key before you hand over the coupons, otherwise the register doesn’t know what the total was before the coupons. When they are done scanning my things, I always ask “may I see my total so I can make sure I have figured things correctly?” This lets the register know you are indeed at your required total, then you can hand over your coupons from there. Hope that helps.

this deal did not work for me. I went to store last night like around 1 am (no, I NEVER go shopping at that time :-)). Our store does not carry any powdered Gain detergents so I got last liquid bottle. Yes, when paired with 2 dish detergents, it prints 2 $3 RRs. But I also got 1 Charmin TP, 1 Cascade dish gel, 3 Bounce packs and 1 Febreze. It was about $34 before coupons and $$20 after. Well $10 RR didnt’ print. Since it was after 1 am and line started forming behind me (I was actually surprised how many people were still shopping), I decided to come back to the store after work. At first I thought maybe Febreze wasn’t a part of a deal even though I saw a picture of it in a newspaper insert. but I decided to return all items and redo my transaction at another Walgreens because this one didnt’ have everything I needed. This time my total was $35 before coupons and $27 after. Well, again, 2 $3 RR printed but no $10 RR. The manager told me it had to be $30 after all coupons, so I decided to trow in another pack of TP. My total $31. Guess what? No $10RR. And then I was given a mail in form to request RR. So, maybe my whole ordeal was just Catalina machines in our town didn’t print any RRs for this promo, regardless of how much you spend. Another thing: if I submit my mail in request, they will check my receipt making sure that I spent $30 on their products AFTER the coupons/discounts. I know this first hand because not long ago I had a similar issue with Garnier products.

Becky September 12, 2011 at 11:27 pm

I read somewhere that if the cashier hits total before scanning the coupons the RR will print. I have tried to get Buy $x get $x RR promotions before and have never received the RR’s. With the Gain deal it worked, I can’t say for sure if I got lucky this time or hitting the total made a difference but it’s worth a try.

Jessica September 13, 2011 at 2:51 pm

I tried to get the $10 for $30 last night, but it didn’t work. The Gain dish soap is not part of the deal. I still bought the 2 gain powder detergents and the soap to get 2 $3 rr (which is over), but if I had known the soap wasn’t included I would have bought the .99 dawn to bring my total over the $30 mark.

Reply

Julie September 12, 2011 at 11:04 pm

Manufacture coupons are considered cash. It doesn’t matter if you use them the RR should print anyway. If it is not printing a RR then there might be something in the deal that isn’t working. For example a 20% more free item that Catalina missed. I hope that helps

Jolene September 12, 2011 at 11:16 pm

Does anyone know if the $3 gain RR or Catalina is rolling? Obviously the $10 PG would not roll but since the $3’s are part of the buy 3 Gain get $3 Catalina I figured it might. If so I imagine you could do it again. I’m so tempted just to try to get more detergent (lots of laundry with 2 boys).

I’ve had this happen as well. Fortunately, the local walgreens manager seens me in there enough that he just gave a $10 walgreens merchandise card. It always bothers me when they tell you that you have to go elsewhere to solve your problem…

Heather September 12, 2011 at 11:49 pm

I bought:
(1) Bounty
(1) Charmin
(2) Cascade
(2) Gain Powder
(1) Gain Liquid

Subtotal: $32.50 (I wanted to do the fabric sheets to get it closer to $30 ($31), but my DH gently reminded me that we did need paper towels.

Used:
(3) $2/1 Gain (The store only had 2 powders left, so the cashier said I could try my $2/1 powder and see if it worked. It did.)
(1) $0.50/1 Cascade
(1) $1.00/1 Cascade
(1) $0.25/1 Bounty
(1) $0.25/1 Charmin (I really wish my region got the $1!)

The 2 $3 RR printed, but the $10 didn’t. The cashier called over the manager, who rung up $30 of random P&G product and generated a $10 RR for me. I love this Walgreens – left them a very nice review on the survey!
