by Christie Bisbee on July 26, 2011

You can grab a GREAT deal on Gain at Walgreens this week! The Gain Original powder 40 load is included in the $4.99 sale. I know the ad just shows the liquid however the powder is ringing up $4.99 and some stores have signs. If your store has no signs up, have them do a price check for you. You can then use the $2/1 coupon to grab these for $2.99 each.

***DEAL IDEA***
Buy (1) Gain 40 load Original $4.99
-$2/1 Tide or Gain Powder Detergent, any – 07-17-11 SS x8/31
= $2.99 EACH

(Thanks Diane!)

I dont know if this works on HE. Gain does make an HE powder. Its also on sale ending today for 3.99 at winn dixie. Use the $2/1 coupon making them 1.99 for the 40 load box. I picked up some HE powders there.

Is this a stock up price? Gain in my favorite detergent

I did. In the land of the non doubles, that is a steal for detergent.

You can indeed use regular detergent in your HE washer. The powdered detergent can go in the wash tub/drum with the clothes…less chance of the powder getting compacted in the normal detergent dispenser/opening of the HE washer. And you will have to use less of the normal sudsing detergents (the HE detergents produce less suds and you probably already know). I usually start with half the amount of the powder detergent. You may even have to use less if you see suds in your HE washer. I learned this after I bought the HE washer & had a stockpile of powdered Surf detergent. The salesperson at Sears told me to use less of the regular detergent. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this info! I went right over and stocked up (but still left plenty on the shelf!). Regular price $10.99/box so after sale $4.99 and $2/1 coupon I paid $2.99, very happy! Reminded me of when I was in college and my roommate used Gain and her clothes smelled soooo good, but I could only afford cheap generic detergent that had no fabulous smell…how I wish I had couponed back then! This is a “Hallelujah, coupons!” day.
