Walgreens Coupons & Deals

Updates From the Field 7/17

by Christie Bisbee on July 17, 2011

Here are a few updates from my trip to hopefully help your trip go a bit smoother…

Good news! The Dove Men+Care is indeed working for the Register Reward Deal! I thought it would and I was pleasantly surprised to actually see a sign up on this one at my store. So you can grab these FREE with the $4 coupons and the Register Reward. I bought these last time they were FREE and they smell great!

Buy (2) Dove Men+Care 6pk Bar Soap 2/$12
Total = $12
(2) -$4/1 Dove Men+Care body and face bar 6 pack+ 06-26-11 RP x7/24
Total = $4 (Get Back $4 RR Dove)

If you buy the Schick Disposable Razors 12 pk. Slim Twin for women, look for two different specially marked packages. I  found one package that had an additional 3 razors, making it 15 in a pack and I also saw packages with free music downloads inside.$5.99

If you do the Drano deal look for peelies on the Drano bottles. All the bottles at my store had $.55/1 peelies attached to them.

Buy (2) Drano 17 or 32 oz. 2/$7
(2) -$.55/1 Peelies
= $5.90, Get Back $1 RR Drano
= $2.45 EACH

Some of you may have noticed the new wording that is showing up on some of the Register Rewards… “REDEEMABLE ONLY AT WALGREENS”

I don’t use my Register Rewards anywhere other than Walgreens but I do know that some other stores accept them and some of you have been using them at other stores. So you may want to take a look to see if your printed the same way!

Find Any other Great Deals? Let us know! :-)

I did not get a $5 RR when I bought 3 Pampers Jumbo Packs today ($9.99 each). Is it because I used the $2 off store coupon from the Infant Care book?

cammy July 17, 2011 at 5:40 pm

Scan your receipt and email it to coupon@catalinamarketing.com

Include your address and the RR you were expecting.

Lisa July 17, 2011 at 5:57 pm

I didn’t get the $5 RR for the Pampers either, actually bought 6 packs, two different transactions, and it didn’t print for either one. I called corporate, and I should be getting the RR later this week. Really strange they didn’t print. Also, the Carefree deal didn’t work for me. The cashier (who is normally awesome and pushes EVERYTHING through), said right off the bat that the in-ad coupon and the July coupon book coupon won’t work together. I still bought them at 99 cents (stupid, I know), I had a bunch of RR from last week I HAD to use up. I can donate my surplus.

Whitney July 17, 2011 at 6:20 pm

How many are on the jumbo packs? I will be buying for two babies….sz 1 and sz 3

Reena July 17, 2011 at 7:03 pm

I got the dove deal (and made my mom do another lol) but there weren’t any signs….. Price check lol. They rang up weird which was fine, bought a candy as a filler and used an RR so paid 1.43 oop and will be sending these to the troops! That’s the next project!

Beatrice July 18, 2011 at 1:29 pm

What a great idea of sending to the troops! Is this something you do on your own or thru a group? I’m wondering if you could suggest how I would go about looking for a local group. I live in Southern Calif. I’ve been supplying my sister (chocoholic) w/some GREAT deals on candy and she says no more….I think I stocked her up for the next 6 months (if she doesn’t eat it all at once :-)

Deidra M July 17, 2011 at 7:23 pm

Pampers didnt work for me either. I too got 6 packs (2 trans). The Q’s shouldnt have any affect on the RR. Its always worked in the past

Heather July 17, 2011 at 8:29 pm

I’m sad to see the new wording on the Register Rewards. I used to use mine at another local store that took them. I’ll definitely be buying less at Walgreens now :-(

Lisa July 18, 2011 at 9:47 am

Me too! I had just figured out I could use RR at my local grocery store and was ecstatic! Then the new wording started, makes me really think about what RR items I’m buying now, because the weekly sales at Walgreens are hit and miss, some weeks I’d rather not go at all, but if I have RR that have to be used, then I need to go. I’m about ready to take a couponing break because of it.

Sarah July 18, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Despite the new wording on the RR, I was still able to use the RR at the grocery store. I can’t help but wonder if Walgreens put the new wording on them to make customers think they can only use them at Walgreens. Essentially, it’s the same as a manufacturer’s coupon that states “use at Dollar General”- you can still use them anywhere. The idea is to promote the store, as well.
As for the RR, with the Pampers deal. I, too, did not receive my RR. The cashier had to re-ring them separately, without any coupons, and then it printed. Do you think that the $25 you have to spend is now after coupons?

Shari July 17, 2011 at 8:51 pm

I did two different transactions of the Pampers and did not get the RR either. Can someone give me the number to call so I can get the RR too?

Deidra M July 17, 2011 at 9:13 pm

Catalina Marketing:
Ive had to call them before and when I did they told me to email them the info (trans # off receipt, what deal didnt print & name and address stuff like that) and they will mail it to you. I cant remember the email though

josie July 17, 2011 at 8:57 pm

I did the pampers deal too and the rr’s didn’t print for size one swaddles but it did work on the cruisers.

Debbie July 17, 2011 at 9:35 pm

I was told by a not so very nice manager that the RR were manufacture coupons and the ones in their monthly book are also manufacture coupons. I would think you could still use them as long as they start with a 5? It is funny how they are manufacture coupons but you cannot use them on anything that is from who they were complements of. Like if they came from P&G then you could not use them on any P&G items. Is it me or wouldn’t you think they would want you to buy more of their products & not some other brand.

Lisa July 18, 2011 at 9:49 am

It’s only if that particular item is producting a RR for the week, that you can’t use a same-brand RR on the item.

Sara K. July 17, 2011 at 11:08 pm

Pampers didn’t work for me either. Manager was nice and just gave me $5 on a gift card instead. Works out better – won’t expire like the RR, and won’t count as a coupon either! Still a pain when they don’t print though!

Tonya July 17, 2011 at 11:24 pm

I did the Pampers deal tonight, bought 3 packs, and the RR did not print. When I talked to the manager she said that the company (P&G) had changed it so if your final total after coupons is not $25 it will not print. She said they were calling it coupon fraud to get it below the requirement and still get the RR. I wasn’t sure if this was true but she was super nice about it so I didn’t push it. She said its just crazy right now with all the coupon companies suing retailers and everything. Looks like the coupon world is a changing.

Robin July 17, 2011 at 11:52 pm

Pampers RR didn’t work for me either. New at this, but was so proud that I did the deal. Bought 3 Jumbo pks, used 3 Mfg Coupons (3 x $1.50), Cashier keyed in the code from the Infant Care Book (3 x $2.00), I then used RR from last wk (different products), had her subtotal to make sure it was correct. Cashier even complimented me that I had done it correctly. Then continued on and got the Mitchum deal. Saw her take from the Cat machine and she handed to me along with my receipt. Was so excited at how much money I saved. Didn’t notice until I got home that I only got the RR for the Mitchum. Should I bother going back or just contact the Catalina company?

Lisa July 18, 2011 at 9:50 am

I always just call Walgreens corporate when that happens to me, and they contact my local store who then gives me the RR. Some people contact the Catalina company too.

I sat and did out the math for size 3 Baby Dry and you actually can get the pampers diapers for about the same price per diaper if you order through amazon mom…

If interested, amazon mom works out to be 30.69/222= 0.138 per diaper (Do their subscribe and save, be part of amazon mom, and clip their 1.50 coupon, free shipping with amazon mom);
For Wags, 3 Jumbo packs of baby dry with 36 each comes out to 15.5/108=0.139 (and you have to pay tax on the before RR amount so it may come out to more). The wags scenario assumes you get $6 for the infant care book and $4.5 in mfr coupons.

We swag in our house (swagbucks) so I usually redeem for amazon gift cards anyways and I love that I get great deals on amazon (although I love the freebies that I’ve been getting at Wags too!)

Pam July 18, 2011 at 9:27 am

I really love Amazon! The fact that you don’t have to pay tax should also be a consideration as well! That can make a big difference, when you are buying $30 worth of diapers! My tax rate is 8.25% which I think is high enough, but in the next county over, it is more than 10%!!!

ember July 18, 2011 at 2:03 am

i had customers today get diapers and it DID print the RR. not sure what style… but it was a style that the infant care book didn’t cover. she had other MFC and RRs so she only paid about $9 OOP and still got her RR. and unless they changed things, the july books aren’t MFC… since we don’t keep those… you may want to see what a different store has to say about that.

Naomi July 18, 2011 at 8:32 am

I did the Schick razor RR deal yesterday and did not get the $2RR. I bought the green pack of the Xtreme 3 razors and used the $3 Facebook coupon. It had the free music download and rang up $5.99. I was wondering if anyone else had that problem. Thank you Deidra and Cammy for posting the Catalina info! I’ll get in touch with them. I’m thinking that maybe that pack wasn’t coded to work for the RR at the store. I doubled checked the coupon and it shouldn’t have interfered with it printing.

Cocoa July 18, 2011 at 7:38 pm

I printed 2 $3 Schick Extreme q from FB and I used both of them in 2 different transactions and both worked for me.

Naomi July 19, 2011 at 8:56 am

Cocoa, did you buy the same type of packaging in each order? I bought the green one on Sunday…no RR. Yesterday, I bought the blue one, used the $3 FB cpn, and got the RR. I also tested the women’s pink 12 ct. packs and they didn’t work. However, the men’s did. What I don’t get is that the ones that didn’t print the RR’s, still rang up on sale.

Michelle July 18, 2011 at 3:28 pm

I am personaly not happy with walgreens. i have not been able to shop there in quite some time do to no stock. even
for the simplest items. They have lost what once was a happy customer.

Susan July 18, 2011 at 4:43 pm

I didn’t make it to Walgreens yesterday, but did go today. I was happy to see some of the Men’s Dove soap still on the shelves. I also bought some Yes to Carrots hand and elbow lotion for 75% off.

Kim July 18, 2011 at 6:08 pm

Schick razors:

7/17 SS = bogo any schick disposable
and also = $1/1
(I’m pretty sure I got both out of SS flyers)

so at Wags for Schick razors
$5.99 for 2 using the bogo, use $1/1 = 2 for $4.99
and get $2 RR

I’m just learning all this and i”m lovn it!~

kathy July 19, 2011 at 3:02 am

I went to my Wags today for the Dove deal, and i really wished I never stepped foot in the store to begin with, the manager was so rude to me, I grab two 6 packs of the Dove men + care on sale 2/12. Get 4 RR making it free. He stated I was only allowed to use one coupon since it’s one coupon per purchase, but he will let it slide this time, but it was not legal, I explained to him that what that means it is one coupon per item, but he just walked away and instructed the cashier to continue my transacti, I asked her to stop and Google it from my phone to show her I was not trying to do nothing illegal and told her to call him back, after 10 min he returned and refused to look at my phone or the other coupon I was trying to show him n that did have a limit on the amount allowed per shopping trip, he told me i was wasting everyone’s time and that he was loosing money with my transaction, that he was very familiar with the term ” one coupon per purchase” not to tell him how to do his job, how is that if you are getting reimburse for the coupon I asked? He then said he loses money all the time from coupons that are not honored….all this while customers and employees were watching! I was soo humiliated…I then said I’ll take my business some where else….and he just gave me back my coupons….the cashier was as shocked as I was I think by her face….this discourages me tremendously since I started couponing not too long ago…but I am planning on writing a letter to corporate. =(

Jennifer M July 19, 2011 at 3:46 pm

Please do Kathy, there is no way a manager should be talking like that to anyone no matter what. So far our policies on the coupons haven’t changed and you did nothing wrong. I did that Dove deal for several customers this week and had no problems. He should be fired for the way he acted. (after he gets a lesson on our Walgreens coupon policies from HIS manager higher up).
