by Christie Bisbee on May 28, 2011

My Ritz cracker coupons from 5/15 SS are $1 off 2. Could I buy two so I can use the Q and get 1 register reward making them free?

Reply

andrea jones May 28, 2011 at 10:34 pm

No if you have a $1/2 this is how it would work.

$2 each X2 = $4 for 2 – $1 = $3 and get a $2 register reward (it will only print 1 per transaction) = $1 for 2 or $.50 each

Cristie May 28, 2011 at 10:41 pm

Oh yeah, duh. I must be tired. Thanks Andrea!

Reply

andrea jones May 29, 2011 at 7:56 am

$.50 is still not a bad price though!

Reply

im not understanding how you came up with $3.98 in the first transaction as the OOP total. im getting a different answer.

Reply

valerie May 28, 2011 at 10:48 pm

nvm i get it now i didnt notice the dry and right guard were totally free.

The ad states you can buy a limit of 3 Ecotrin. I interpret that as 3 per transaction. So, if you purchase 3 in each transaction, (and have the additional coupons) you’ll have $1.02 overage which will be applied to the basket purchase, bringing the #1 total down to $2.96. For transaction #2, you will need filler items because you would have a -.86 balance. I’m going for the Royal gelatins as a filler. If you purchase 5/$1 gelatin, you pay .14 out of pocket for #2 transaction. That’s a total out of pocket expense of $3.10 for both transactions, you have 4 additional Ecotrin’s, 5 additional gelatins, and the same amount of register rewards. The only downfall of this, is the shelves will be cleared a LOT quicker. Early bird catches the worm I guess! FYI – you MUST have the cashier scan your Ecotrin manufacture’s coupons FIRST before the in-ad coupon. The overage won’t be applied to the rest of your basket purchase if done the other way.

I had the $1.50/1 ecotrin. So I did 3 per transation, resulting in $1.53 overage that went towards the rest of my purchase. I made sure I had more than enough to cover that overage. The register did not beep, and all was good 🙂

Reply

Walgreens Employee May 29, 2011 at 10:21 am

WATCH OUT !!! It states in our coupon policy for no overage. The cashier should notice this and they should key your coupon in for .99 or what every the sale is to make the item free.

Reply

Lauren May 29, 2011 at 10:21 am

Update from my shopping trip. My store caught on to what I did after the first transaction with the overage, so made the value of the ecotrin .99 before taking any coupons for my 2nd and 3rd transaction. The register beeped. Oh well. I actually made out better than planned because an extra RR for the Ritz printed. I didn’t realize it until I got home and looked over my receipts. My store had everything I went in for.

We were just at Walgreens to try to get two Dry Idea deodorants for free with the in-store B1G1 FREE sale and a manufacturer B1G1 FREE coupon. We went to check-out, and the cashier said it didn’t work and called the manager over. He said that we couldn’t use the B1G1 FREE coupon because we weren’t “buying” the second item. We pulled out the coupon policy to show him how it says two manufacturer coupons can be used in a B1G1 FREE sale, but the manager said that it has to be a certain dollar amount off, not another B1G1 FREE coupon. Huh, I don’t get it! Please help!

Reply

Mine will not honor it either. 🙁

me 2. the manager said that they no longer accept the coupon for b1g1 when they have it on sale for b1g1. I was told it’s a new wags policy from corporate.

Reply

My walgreens manager told me this week that they have and other stores should have too, posted for employees their new memo.. issued last month that clearly states that that yes store advert AND Man coupons can be use together on b1g1 items.. the ad covers the second item, MQ the first.. but that the stores that are being cleared out of items in minutes. The manager can adjust policy as needed

Carmen May 29, 2011 at 7:15 am

At 4 am my Wags had almost none of the advertised items. Only the Coke from the 2 day sale. The night manager said they just didn’t get it. And the cashier was a jerk and would only let me buy one of the little canned coffee beverages. I have never been so disappointed at my usually wonderful Walgreens. I cannot believe that nothing in the sale paper 2 day and weekly was stocked.

Did the $5 off coupon in the June Walgreens book work for the Applied Nutrtion calcium?

Reply

Walgreens Employee May 29, 2011 at 10:23 am

No It only works for the ones with the picture.

Reply

greedy couponer May 29, 2011 at 12:49 pm

that is not true, I looked it up in the computer, is shows it is works with all applied except the calcium.

Tiffanie F May 29, 2011 at 10:25 am

The $5 coupon from the book beeped – after looking at the product and the coupon the cashier re-rang the calcium in at $5 and out popped my $10 rr

Reply

Walgreens Employee May 29, 2011 at 10:31 am

They should not do not! Do not expect it to happen at your store

Reply

Coupon in June book said supplement. Calcium falls under vitamin category. I think that’s why it did not work

I was so happy about the b1g1 Dry Idea deal, I just had to tell someone. I don’t know if all Walgreens do this but after about 4pm on Sat you can get some of the deals advertised for Sun. Anyway, I had 4 b1g1 q’s for dry idea. I got 8 sticks of dry idea clear gel and paid 80 cents. I love this deod and wish I had more q’s.

*************DONATIONS FOR JOPLIN******
IF you are able to, please donate at Walgreens for the Joplin Relief! One store was completely gone and another will take up to 2 months to rebuild. The third store has been turned into a 24 hr store, walgreens is going to use a trailer to make another pharmacy on site. The location that was just damaged is now the central hub for nurses. They are using the supplies from that store like band aids and blood test strips. I know a lot of you have a ton of coupons for a ton of free stuff. We would really appreciate any donations to help our Walgreens families. Many employees have lost their homes. But on a good note, none of our employee were killed!! I’m not sure what every store across the country is doing, but here in Arkansas we have donation bins in the store! Thank you!!

Reply

Becky May 29, 2011 at 11:07 am

Regarding the Joplin relief, can we donate anything, regardless of where we bought it?

Yippee my Walgreens had 1 box of Crackerfuls on the shelf! So my transaction went as planned! A lady in front of me asked the manager about the calcium and he looked it up and saw that they didn’t get any in even though it had been ordered. They didn’t have the cans of coffee out at first but while he was checking for the calcium he brought the coffee out. Double Yippee! LOL

I really dislike shelf clearers. I was a at walgreens today and watched this person take ALL of the icy hot! Also all the stores were out of the body wash. They told me some lady cleared them out right when they opened. So annoying!

Reply

denise May 29, 2011 at 1:29 pm

You should have said something to the lady buying all the icy hot. Either that or one of the managers.

Reply

Lacey May 29, 2011 at 3:29 pm

The icy hot coupon wasn’t for that particular icy hot that was on sale. It beeped and the cashier read the coupon and it’s for a another kind of icy hot.

Reply

Jess May 29, 2011 at 4:29 pm

My walgreens ASM said that too. But if you read the first line of the small black print says 1.00 off any blah blah icy hot, blah blah blah product.

Reply

Kayla June 1, 2011 at 9:10 pm

I completely agree. I had someone do that at my Walgreen’s with the Ritz Crackerfuls. She had four children with her and had each of them buying four (the store limit) so that they were technically all separate transactions. Very irritating, since I was not able to get any.

Reply

Cathy May 29, 2011 at 12:31 pm

My coupon is Save $1.50 when you buy ONE (1) Ritz Crackerfuls Filled Crackers (6 oz., any variety) will this work?

None of the Walgreens in my area had the Crackerfuls or the Smart Rinse. One was already out of the calcium but I found it at another store. If I can figure out what will be on sale prior to the sale starting, why can’t they do it and stock up?

Reply

wag mgr June 2, 2011 at 10:04 am

The Ritz Crackerfuls were an ISN item (insufficient stock notice). The warehouses were not given an adequate supply from the mfg so each store only got a few. My store only got 6 and they had to be UPS’d from the warehouse so we could have them in time. Please remember, we want to have this stuff to sell. We realize that if we don’t have it we cant sell it. The other thing to keep in mind is that we have to place orders for a lot of this stuff 6+ months in advance, that is if corporate doesn’t order for us. By the time the sale starts, there is often not any extra product to be ordered.

I just had a question about multiple transactions, i called last nite to ask when the sunday sales take affect and the lady told me midnight so i waited till midnight, i planned on doing 2 transactions, the degree deodorant on one and the icy hot, bc, and ecotrin in the other so i didnt have many items anyway, when i was ready to check out i asked the cashier “which i always do, just to be courtious”, if he minded that i was going to do 2 transactions, he said that he would since it was so late and the store was empty but that they would not be doing multiple transactions anymore. So my ? is can they do that or does that have to be stated in the policy because ive seen nothing on this subject in the policy?

Reply

Vicky May 29, 2011 at 2:03 pm

I got to my wags at 8:30am. They only have the Calcium. I asked the employee. She said she tried to locate all those free after RR items last night but she can’t find any. She told me their truck is coming in Monday

The 2 stores I went to today did not have the Smart Rinse. They both had the crackers but they were in the back room. One manager told me they came in via UPS on Saturday evening and they hadn’t had time to merchandise them.

Just a heads up… I went in today and bought some of the V8 fusion on sale. I bought 2.. used the in ad coupon to get em for $3 each.. then used the manuf q for $1.00 off 2. After transaction is printed a $1 RR. My mom bought 4 of them using 2 manuf q and she got a $3 RR. Makes it a great deal 🙂

Reply

Dana May 29, 2011 at 3:23 pm

went to all 4 of my wag’s stores in town and NONE of them had the crackers, they had the RR deal signs but the shelf was cleared! that was my favorite deal this week because my husband loves those things! the first store I went to had everything else I wanted to do like the ICy hot, Ecotrin and Right Guard so I did all my transactions total of 6 and I met the nicest cashier ever there she was so helpful and even pointed out other deals for me.
Then decided to drive to the other 3 stores to check on the crackers and shelves were cleared at everyone. SO sad, they should stock up each store if they are gonna advertise its price being free in the ad.

Ps: its very disappointing to see how many problems everyone is having with the new rules of transactions per day and mean cashiers, I usually never have any problem out here in So. Cali but now I can see they are gonna start changing their rules too! 🙁

I just went to Walgreens and got the Hawaiian Tropics Shimmer Lotion (not sunscreen) – though the ad does not show the image, because the verbiage did not specify select Hawaiian Tropics they gave it to me. IT GETS BETTER – on most of the HT bottles, there is a $2 off Manufacture Coupon – I used one for each bottle which brought the cost down by another $4 making this an AMAZING DEAL!

Reply

Mayra May 29, 2011 at 4:31 pm

I went to two Wags today at was there at 8am didn’t wanted to take chances, so I found 3 boxes of the crakerfuls and for the first time here in Houston they were limiting I RR deal per customer per day, which was great I was able to find everything.

I saw a Lady that started putting things in her cart from the RR’s and the manager told her that while he can help her with a couple transactions she can not take all the product she wanted. 1 hour later I went to pick up some photos and guess what none of the RR’s Deals were available any longer. SO I guess so us normal people that what 1 or 2 of each this new product restriction is coming very handy.

Reply

Jess May 29, 2011 at 4:32 pm

I tried the icy hot RR deal. The icy hot was for .99 I used a 1.00 off coupon which they modified to .99 but it didnt print my RR. The ASM and corporate told me IF i use a coupon on an RR product I am not supposed to receive and RR.

Also, my ritz crackerfuls did not give me an RR. 🙁

Quick question for anyone… I am new to couponing so I was wondering do we just get the manufactor coupons in the Sunday paper?

Reply

Sue May 29, 2011 at 5:26 pm

Jess here in Lafayette, LA they tell me the same thing. That’s why I don’t shop there much anymore the deals just aren’t that great when you can’t use both together. They told me that the register rewards are considered coupons and you can only use one register reward coupon per transaction. And can not use with a manufacture coupon.

Reply

margaret May 29, 2011 at 6:33 pm

i go to 5 of my area walgreens. No stores had the smart rinse. I didn’t even ask about it. None had the crackerfuls. only 1 had the icy hot, none had the calcuim and 2 had the coffee (which is kinda nasty btw LOL)….i did manage to get everything on my modified list, so that was good, but i had modifed it to not include the crackers or smart rinse.

I did not have the in ad Q for Ecotrin (takes off $2.50) where are you all finding that Q? All I saw was an in ad Q for .99 cents off.

Reply

Christie May 30, 2011 at 1:12 am

Lisa – that’s the in ad coupon. The regular price is $3.49. The coupon takes off $2.50 to make it $.99.

Reply

Debbie May 30, 2011 at 11:21 am

Sue, you can use coupons when using a RR but you have to have one item you don’t have a Q for.

I popped into my local wags Thursday for the free asprin (2 store Q’s and MQ. On my way to check out I see, Bounty 8 roll paper towels (unadvert) for $2.75 a pack, only 2 packs left on the shelf and I grabbed both even though I didn’t have a MQ. Then I see Cottonelle tp 12 single roll pack for $4, I grabbed 2, had 2 $1 MQ’s plus the $1 store Q. Then I cruised over to see if there was any clearance makeup and got L’Oreal lip stick, $9.50 clearance to $4.00 and used $2 MQ. THEN,I spy the $10 RR on Hawaiian Tropic/shave cream/razors. I didn’t clear the shelves of the shave gel but got 11 cans with MQ plus a pack of slim razors MQ.

At check out I used every coupon I had and because I had not MQ on the paper towels I was able to use a $6 RR from a previous trip to pay for the paper towels. I walked out with $90 in products and paid $18! All thanks to Wild for Wags…

So RR’s can be used in a transaction when you’re using MQ just have a ‘filler’ something small that has no coupon or omit one MQ and use the RR.
