by Christie Bisbee on August 14, 2010

Here is my scenario for someone with NO Register Rewards.

In this scenario you’d spend $6.97 out of pocket (OOP), get $35.44 in merchandise, and end up with $2 in Register Rewards. You can send in for the Try Me FREE Schick rebate if you haven’t already and get back an additional $7.99 to make it a small Money Maker! *The Schick Rebate expires 8/18 and must be post marked by that date!

-I didn’t include the Stride until we know if the Stride Shift is included.
-If you have more deodorant coupons by all means buy more deodorant!
– I left the Schick for last in case you didn’t get the coupon in your paper.
– I’ve highlighted the copuons that count in your total in BLUE and those that don’t in RED.

We mainly get items at Costco that you have trouble getting coupons or great discounts for otherwise. Some fruits and veggies (mainly during winter months when reg. grocery stores don’t have great prices on them. Meats when I need to (I do stock up while gr. stores have them on special but we are fresh seafood lovers and Costco’s crab legs are half the price and we live in Ohio so seafood can get pretty expensive) Other than that we might get things we don’t usually find in the other stores that we like example being they have Mickey Mouse shaped organic chicken nuggets that have a whole grain breading that my daughter loves and a bag lasts us about 4-5 months (it’s a big bag) and is only around $8.

I would agree with Wendy. I can get chicken breasts and ground beef at Costco at a good price. Those are things I don’t want to have to think about since they are staples I use weekly. We also get our toilet paper and paper towels there because it is very hard to find decent coupons/sales on these items. The Costco brand toilet paper and paper towels are also very good quality. I do occasionally bring my calculator and make some calculations to make sure I’m getting the best deal in case things change.

I will say there are some things I have switched over to buying at Publix like Snyder’s pretzels because I can usually find a good coupon/sale situation with those.

We were big warehouse store shoppers. We have BJ’s in our area. We have pretty much eliminated using them all together since I started couponing. We did by a 64oz bottle of olive oil with a BJ’s coupon that made it 13.99, we thought that was a pretty good deal. In Addition…Rumor has it that this particular ware house store may start accepting competitor coupons if there are no size restrictions, if that happens then there may be good deals to be had then. I recently went into Sam’s and they do not accept coupons, why would anyone shop there, I couldn’t believe it.

We do not shop at warehouse stores. I have never found them to be worth it. My Dad is a big fan of BJ’s, but I do not agree with him. Plus, I think it encourages us to over eat. I spend about 80 dollars a week on 2 adults and a baby, but I buy a lot of organic.

The only thing that I will buy there is the large container of Feta!! otherwise I totally agree that if you are willing to use coupons, shopping our way makes way more sense!

We have a Sam’s membership and still use it frequently. I, like Traci, think it is worth it to buy toliet paper and paper towels there. I also buy chicken breasts and olive oil on a regular basis and when we were using it, formula was a steal. We bought the Sam’s brand in a extra large can for $20. We spent a max of $40 a month on formula before our baby started eating solids. I don’t think you can beat that, on a regular basis. I also get some good kids clothes there at great prices.

With the first scenario couldn’t you also use the $1.50/2 coupon (off any two Right Guard or Dry Idea products) for the 2 you are buying?
