I have a Gilette Catalina- does that mean I can use it with the $4/2? Either way it’s a good deal, I think! Please help!

Christie June 19, 2010 at 8:53 pm

Hi Melanie, You can’t use both but you could just buy the Gillette for $4.49 and use the Catalina ($1.50/1 right?) and pay $2.99 and get back $4.50 RR! That’s a great little money maker!

In what order do you hand the cashier your coupons?
RR – 1st
MFG’s – 2nd
WAGS Q’s – 3rd
????
Is this the order your use???

Christie June 19, 2010 at 10:06 pm

You have (2) choices… MFC’s, then Wag’s Q’s, then RR (which is what I do) OR RR’s, MFC’s then Wag’s Q’s.

Sharelle June 19, 2010 at 11:44 pm

What’s the difference? I always use my wags qs very last because I heard it doesn’t go toward your coupon total that way. Is that true? Why can’t you do MFCs, RRs, then Wag’s qs? Sorry so technical, just trying to figure it all out!

Christie June 20, 2010 at 12:52 am

Always give your store Qs after your MQs. I just like to use my RR last because I really see them like money and quite honestly, I have so many of them that I don’t really need to figure out all my transactions to a tee before I go. I just bring cheap fillers in my cart ($.08 clearance knee highs are my favorite right now) and I can usually get my transaction to under $.30. So when it’s all said and done I just look to see what I owe and use my RR like cash.

Sharelle– I’m 99.9% sure of this. Wags qs don’t count no matter how you hand them over. They can be scanned first, last, or every third coupon it doesn’t matter. I always always use to hand them in MFC’s,Wag’s, RR all in one pile. Some cashiers just scan them in the order that they are in the pile, but it seem’s that most of them will dig though them and scan Wag’s,MFC’s, then RR. Once I heard that they have a policy on witch get scanned first.

Christie June 20, 2010 at 1:14 am

Erin – I’m sorry but it does make a difference.

For example, let’s say an item is $.99 after in ad Q and you have a $1/1 coupon… if you scan the in ad Q first (making it $.99) you won’t be able to use the $1/1 coupon. You’ll get serious beeping and now you are at the mercy of your cashier being willing to adjust down your Q. (We all know how that goes). If however you hand over the $1/1 MQ FIRST then the in ad Q, you’ll be fine. You’ll get a $.01 in overage and be able to buy the item stacking both coupons.

It also matters when you have a B1G1 coupon, like the recent Reach deal. You are not going to get the best deal using the store coupon first.

I can’t begin to tell you the number of times I’ve accidentally handed over a Wags coupon first and then when I handed over my MQ coupon the register beeps. You then have to void out the store Q in order to get the MQ to go through and THEN use the store coupon.

My suggestion for all of you on this is don’t cut out the wags Qs! They don’t need them. Once all your MQ are scanned just open up the ad or the monthly booklet to the page with the store Q for them to scan. That way you guarantee you’ll get your store coupons scanned AFTER your MQ.

I can’t wait I want to know so bad if the Gillette 1.7oz Body Wash $.99 is going to cause the Q to beep

Morgan June 20, 2010 at 2:59 am

I really doubt my Walgreens will have the .99 Gillette bottles. I’m trying to figure out some scenarios that use my gillette/old spice B1G1 coupons. I have 3 ($5) P&G RR, 1 ($6) Nivea RR and 1 ($10) Neut. RR. I don’t have a need for contact solution or tampons, but I guess I could donate them to the local D.V womens shelter….

Erin June 20, 2010 at 6:58 am

Oh-I was thinking that it she was saying they went into her “count” for coupons. One coupon for one item. Sorry,

Went to two stores this morning and neither had the trial size Gillette. Can you please provide the UPC? Although it’s great in the sense that it only adds $1.48 to your total and is a $3 MM, but I was disappointed that almost all of your scenarios this week are based on this YMMV item…

Reply

Christie June 20, 2010 at 9:15 am

Erica – Just follow the instructions at the top that tell you what to do if you don’t find the travel sized Gillette.

Does anyone else have a problem using two RR that are the same in the same transaction. Like scenario one usually the register beeps at me.

Reply

Christie June 20, 2010 at 9:03 am

Hmmm, that hasn’t happened to me. If you use a different RR does it go through? Are you sure you have enough fillers?

Reply

Ashley D June 20, 2010 at 9:21 am

HAve anyone tried to purchase the trail size still want to know if the Q beep

Reply

karen June 20, 2010 at 10:49 am

As far as using 2 RR—it can be problamatic if you only have a few items and manufacturers coupons. Example–1 8.00 item and trying to using a 5.00RR, a 3.00RR & a manufacturer item. It’s been my experience that you have to have 3 items, even if the other 2 items are .01! If it beeps you’re pretty much out of luck at WAGS, so try to be prepared with fillers at the register. 🙂

karen June 20, 2010 at 10:51 am

Don’t know how to fix the above typo—but I meant manufacturer coupon, not item!

I love Wild for Wags, but I really get angry at Walgreens! I just wish they were as coupon friendly as CVS. For instance, today, I went to do th Renu RR deal, and the MANAGER said she wouldn’t accept the ReNu $2 off coupon! “We don’t accept these” was her answer. I was so angry. Both Walgreens in my area are like this. SO aggravating. Sorry for the vent. I hope you don’t take offense Christie, b/c your site is AWESOME!!!

Reply

Christie June 20, 2010 at 12:22 pm

Elizabeth – No offense taken! Why she/he wouldn’t take the coupon is beyond me! Do you have a different store you can go to? I’d call corporate on that one. I have lots of examples of ads where they have a Register Reward on the deal and they advertise come use your coupons. Like the recent Zantac ad – Click HERE to see what I mean. Maybe have an example like this in your coupon binder.

In your updated Transaction 1 (for no small size Gillette) would you still get the $4.49 RR from the body wash if you are paying with a Gillette Razor (P&G product) RR?

Reply

Christie June 20, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Hi Morgan – Yes, as long as they are different amounts you should be fine. It it was a $5 and you were getting a $5 you’d have a problem but the body wash is $4.50. If you want to play it super safe you could use a $4 Hallmark to pay and just pay a little more out of pocket or throw in an extra filler and use a $6 Nivea to pay. Hope that helps! 🙂

FYI – the which coupon to hand over first issue will not be an option much longer. The test markets for their rewards cards do not use walgreens coupons from their ad. Rather, their ad shows “clipless coupons” to show what is on sale and when these items are rung up they automatically get the sale price. I have already had a number of issues with it, it will just depend on your store and cashier. I had no problem when the Aquafresh coupons beeped a couple weeks ago, but have yet to find a cashier who will let me use the Reach toothbrush coupons. Uggghh. I like not have to cut out so many coupons but I have a feeling we won’t be able to get as many free or mm items once this system starts nationwide.

Hi! Is the Neutrogena deal (Buy 3 get $10 RR) still on, or has ended already?

Reply

couponscarol June 20, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Does anyone know if you can use 2 free item MQ for same transaction… like this:
Buy 2 old spice body wash @ 4.49 and 1 fresh collection a/p-doed
Use these 2 MQ
-Get Old Spice Body Wash or Fresh Collection AP/Deo (of equal or lesser value), FREE wyb any Old Spice Body Wash or Fresh Collection AP/Deo (1.7 oz+) – 05-02-10 PG
-Get Old Spice Fresh Collection Anti-P/Deo(of equal or lesser value) FREE wyb any Old Spice Body Wash or Fresh Collection AP/Deo (1.7 oz or larger) – 05-02-10 PG
Will this work & is there any specific order to giving the Q’s?

The Rephresh coupons are an unserialized PDf, so you can print an unlimited number of these coupons. Here is a google docs link for a four coupons on one page printout:

https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B0zf2kcGxXwQMDJmNGQ0MmMtNzViNy00MTA1LTgzZjUtZTYwYWUwZTQ5N2I3&hl=en

When you print, don’t fit or shrink it. I used 10 of them earlier this morning. I couldn’t find any of the gillette trials so my scenario was rolling one neutragena with 1 renu and 1 rephresh…

2- $1 off any 2 os deo
1-$10 RR Neutrogena
1-$4 RR schick
OOP+=$.26 Get $10 RR + $4.50 RR
It worked fine for me.

couponscarol June 20, 2010 at 8:03 pm

OHHH I like what Cheri did! Congrats! Here’s what I came up with today…I was able to get MM w/ body wash-Buy:
2-gillette body wash 4.49
Use:
1 -B1G1 Gillette Body Wash, any excluding trial size – 06-06-10 PG
1 -$4/2 Gillette Anti-P/Deo or Body Washes, Any – 05-02-10 PG
.49 OOP+ 4.50 RR =$4MM
(I gave the B1G1 coupon 1st if it makes a difference-I didn’t know if it would even work)
Also, my store had Pilot Easy Touch Pro pens for 1.09 on clearance. They were hanging with the other pens & there is a yellow spot on top right corner advertising the 1.75 REBATE!(1reabate per household) Great filler. There were also small spiral notebooks clearanced in same isle for .25.

Brenda – Yes, I have similar fears about the test market program. 🙁

Maria – You have 1 more week for Neutrogena!

Reply

maria June 20, 2010 at 9:15 pm

couponscarol. did any of your coupons beep? I always thought you couldn’t use a B1G1 free coupon (this attaches to the free item) and a $/2 item coupon since it will try to attach to two items. I thought it would beep since the free item already had a coupon attached to it. I know you can use a B1g1 coupon and a $/1 coupon. Thanks.

Maria, It only beeped when she rang the 1st Q b/c I gave the B1G1 1st & it wanted the cashier to write the price in. Now, I do have to say I did this at the cosmetics counter & I know the girl there. We were talking the whole time & if it did beep(which I don’t think I would have missed b/c I told her I didn’t know if it was going to work) & she did something about it I didn’t notice it. She told me if it didn’t work I could get my q’s back & do it a different way, so maybe if someone else trys & reports back if it worked for them that would be great.

I just found your site and tried to use your 4 transaction scenario today. I was so excited and went all prepared. I had to rearrange a bit though as the stores were out of the Body wash already but on step 3 when I bought the eye product and handed over my $2 Internet Printable coupon I was told that Walgreens is no longer taking IP Qs! I had just used one at another Walgreens a little earlier in the day…The manager told me as there have received many fake coupons that NO Walgreens are taking IP Qs anymore and this has been for 2 months now…Anyone else have this issue lately? I do love you site and the steps you give are so helpful. Thank you!!

Christie June 25, 2010 at 10:57 pm

Hi Christine, Welcome! Each store gets to set up their own rules, so the manager who told you that Walgreens no longer takes Internet coupons is just clueless. AND Walgreens is now trying to push printable coupons on their website. Next time tell him you printed it from Walgreens.com and see what he says! Ask him if Walgreens.com has fraudulent coupons on their website. HA! Or better yet, just shop at the nice store that took your coupon! 🙂
