I have a couple questions on the new rewards program. I was told today by a Walgreens employee…if I redeem points on my purchase, that I won’t get any points on that purchase (if I buy items that are points items). I can’t believe that is correct? Also, do you recommend redeeming points as you go or letting them accumulate?

You can accumulate as many rewards as you want without problem. You can only CASH IN 40,000 at a time which is = to $50.00!

If you BUY something that gives you points, you will NOT GET more points for an offer that offers points. SO if this week you used 5000 points to buy $5 worth of items- say the 2 Suave Lotions for $6-takes off $5 and then you pay $1 OOP) then you wouldn’t get the 2000 points for buying the suave Because you used points to pay for points!) However, if you used RRs to pay for the transaction, you would get the points!

I save my points because at Thanksgiving they are having an outrageous amount of RR deals that they will offer! ALso many are saving for Christmas shopping. Just remember that when you have a lot of points, you can only cash in 40,000 in one transaction! So you will have to do many transactions if you have a lot of points. I have over 100,000 so that means 3 transactions; I would guess they will limit at the holidays too 🙂

it is true, you will not get points if you redeem them in the same transaction. if you let the points grow they will become worth more dollar wise. 40,000 points is 50.00 where 5,000 points is 5.00 I have been saving my points. i have already hit the 40,000 and then redeemed just 10.00 worth over the weekend. I will end up with 40,000 again by the end of the week. it really just depends on what you want to do with the points.

I say save up the points. As rashelle stated the points are worth more than a dollar when you hit 18000. You will not get points from items you purchase if you use your balance rewards to pay for that purchase. It really isn’t a bad thing because there is so many items in the store you can purchase that are not offering points.

On Sunday, the Walgreens jumbo pack diapers were marked Buy 1 at $4.49, get 1 50% off = $3.35 a pack. This deal would make them even less!

that is correct–if you pay using your points any items you may have bought in that transaction that would have given you more points is null/void. Just like if you bought an item with a register reward and new register reward would not print for it. So you have to work your transaction around which ones do not accumulate points and pay using points for those items and ones that do not and use register rewards to pay for that transaction

I have been saving up my points because I like to buy stuff that’s super cheap with coupons even if there’s no points on the deal.

At least that’s how I’m doing it right now, maybe once I cash in I’ll try the other way but with the holidays coming up I figure it’s a good time to save them. 😉

I don’t like spending a lot out of pocket, so what I do is lump all the good RR items together in 1 transaction, pay for it with points, and then use those RRs to pay for a transaction that has a lot of point items.

I went to my Walgreen today and spend over $30 before, but it didn’t give me the 5000 points, the manager had to do it manually for me. We sure it is before manufacture coupons and after Walgreen coupons, right? The manager took my words for it and give me those points, I don’t want later on to find out it’s not…… >”< …….

So…. I went to another Walgreen and this time the 5000 pts did show up on my receipt, so now I can have no worry to say it is before the MQs. ^_^

Can I buy 4 Mitchum in the same transaction and earn 4,000 pts? U earn Suave points only on lotions?

Mine wouldn’t give me the points because I did not spent $30. After coupons I only spend $15. I called corperate to get the points added on cause the manager would not help me and they wouldn’t help me either because I had to spend the $30. That sucked!!!

I did this deal twice today and got some great deals! Be sure to check your clearance isles for Vicks Nature Fusion. Bought 3 for $12.87, used (1) $3.00 off 2 Vicks and (1) BOGO Puffs which were $1.79. Worth 4000 points 🙂

I had the same problem as Amy. I spent $30 before Manf coupons but I didn’t get the 5,000 points. I called corporate and they said it’s because I only paid $21 (after my coupons), so I don’t know how people are getting this deal….it’s confusing maybe it depends on your individual store because calling corporate didn’t help me.

That’s so odd, maybe your particular store had it set up differently. 🙁
