Updates From the Field – BF Edition!

by Christie Bisbee on November 25, 2010

Today went remarkable well for me! You can see the match ups for the 4 day ad HERE & some rolling scenarios HERE. Here are some quick updates for you on what I found…

SODA RR DEAL – There seemed to be some issues with the soda RR not printing but it finally seemed to be working when I was leaving the store (approx. 1pm).

COLGATE RR DEAL – Both the MQ & the WAGS coupon worked perfectly making it a $2 Money Maker! If you don’t have the Diabetes & You Winter edition be sure to check at the pharmacy. Remember there is a MQ in the large magazine and the store coupon is in the smaller magazine. If you can’t find it, the code for the Wags coupon is (5917).
-$1/1 Colgate Total, Any 4oz+ (x 3/31/11) Diabetes &You Winter 2010 x3/31/11
-$1/1 Colgate Total, Advanced or sensitive 4-6 oz (x 2/28/11) D&Y Winter 2010

BIC RR DEAL – The $2 Bic coupon did NOT interfere with the $2 RR – Yeah! So be sure to use the coupon to get a $1 Money Maker on razors! -$2/1 Bic Soleil Bella Razor, Any PRINT

HERBAL ESSENCES DEAL – The $2/1 Clairol coupon is working with no problems and no beeps! Yeah! I remember about 8 months ago it was a beeper so I’m glad it’s not anymore!

FAVORITE FILLER – My favorite filler has to be the B1G2 FREE Hallmark wrapping paper. They have lots of nice patterns to choose from, the quality is good and it’s just $.66 a roll!

THURSDAY ONLY ARM & HAMMER DEAL –This is certainly my favorite deal for today only, the Arm & Hammer Spinbrush is only $6 (normally $29.99) after coupons!

Buy

Arm & Hammer Spinbrush Pro Clean Sonic 50% OFF $14.99
Use
-$4/1 Arm & Hammer Spinbrush Sonic PRINT
-$5/1 A&H Spinbrush Pro Clean Sonic Rechargable Toothbrush (5042) Dec. Coup. Book
= JUST $6 After Coupons!

Lastly, if it appears something has run out, ask the staff if they have more in the back or on any special displays. I kept thinking stuff was sold out and then stumbling across it on special displays.  Happy Shopping! 🙂

Christie… thank you so much for all your scenarios and match ups! I was there when my wags opened this morning and did quite well! I did run in to the soda issue but they just gave me a dollar back… i cant complain about that! I even snagged two of the half price cabbage patch dolls with my jingle rewards and i still have a ton of jingle rewards left over!

Katie – That’s great! Glad your store handled the soda issue well and you were able to find some great deals!

okay, I went to Walgreens and gots lots of stuff – an unadvertised deal is that Pepsi 2L have hangtags for $1/2 making the Pepsi 2/78 cents! One store just has the hangtag at the register and they scan it for you. The other store does not, so you have to find whatever hangtags are left on the bottles. Also the Dr. Pepper register rewards are not printing! They are having issues with it and each store is handling it differently!

Our store was dead, at 2:15pm. They had TONS of register reward items in stock. So I didn’t feel rushed to get the deals.

Oh, and the bic razor coupon beeped for me. She then entered in the actual bar code numbers manually, and it rang up no problem.

My trip went great as well. Everything in plentiful stock. I checked out at the beauty counter and got a coupon book with lots of Walgreens beauty coupons good til January 1 and a free comb. Plus the worker at the beauty counter is super nice about all my coupons 🙂 It was fun.

After I spent hours preparing then going to the store and getting all the items the cashier informed me they had implemented a policy that during the 3 day sale they will only allow one transaction perperson to limit the number of jinglecash anyone can get. After 5 min of me explaining why this was ridiculous she finally agreed to do it just for me just this once. I will still be calling corporate as it was a huge aggravation and I’m sure they turned away a lot of buisness

Christie, you mentioned if we don’t find the Wags coupon (Colgate deal), that we can give the cashier the 4-digit code?

I also had another question today. I bought the toothbrush from Procter and Gamble company. If I used it to buy the Gillette Fusion offer (also from Proctor and Gamble company), would the RR print out for the Gillette deal? I know it doesn’t work if you try to roll it back into the same item (unless there’s a glitch! 🙂 but does it give problems if you roll it back into the same company?

Thanks!!
Jeni

I wasn’t clear….

My Walgreens would not accept any manufacturer’s coupons on items that were printing the Jingle Cash. Every time I go in there it is something different. So aggravating!

I bought a bunch of items in one transaction to make it easy. More OOP, but I was ok with that. NOT ONE RR printed. She told me it was because I used coupons, but I didn’t use coupons on every single thing, and the coupon/item ratio wasn’t even met. She ended up reringing the items and forcing them to print the RR but told me that it wouldn’t print in the future. Irritating. I knew I should have just gone to my normal Wags where I never have issues.

I went to one Walgreens and the pop, Robitussin, and fiber choice didn’t print the RR. Didn’t realize it until I got home because I did one big transaction. Later in the day I went to a different Walgreens in a different city and none of my RR printed. I was careful to make sure that I didn’t use any from my previous purchases. The cashier tried telling me it was because I had multiple P and G. Well why didn’t my Huggies print out. She did re ring up all my RR items to make them print out. I wonder why this happened. I’ve been doing Wag deals for about a year now and know the rules.

I work at Walgreens, and there is no problems with any of the register rewards, or using man. coupons and getting register rewards to print.
The only reason your RR’s wouldn’t print would be if you were using RR’s for the same items and trying to purchase the same thing, or her catalina could be down.
Also another reason they won’t print is if you swipe a food stamp card to purchase food items with RR’s.
I do think they should limit transactions where you can only get 1 item that’s free..aka only 1 free toothpaste not doing 3 transactions and getting 3 free…read the ad it’s one per person, but buying the items then using RR’s to purchase product shouldn’t be a problem. We just want to make sure there’s enough product for everyone 🙂

What time did you go? Corporate wide was having problems this morning, but every RR printed out for me.

Mary November 25, 2010 at 9:46 pm

My Walgreens trip worked out great! I did 4 transactions. The best was that I only spent $10.00 ang got over $110.00 in savings! Thanks Christie!

Jeni – If you use a RR from one company to buy another product that spits out RR from the same company you will only have a problem if it’s the same $ amount. So if I use a $2 P&G to buy something that gives a $4 RR from P&G I’d be fine but if I was to buy another item that gives out a $2 RR from P&G I’d have a problem.

Sarah – The soda was having issues until around 1pm ET but the Fiber Choice & Robitussin should have printed.

CP – There was a 30 minute period today where they shut down the catalinas to fix the pepsi, I wonder if that’s when you happened to be shopping.

Marcia – That is ridiculous!

Mary – I’m glad you were able to do your transactions!

I had a blast @ Wags today. I went to a store that I’ve never visited as we were traveling to eat dinner with family. I was able to find everything, had a wonderful cashier @ cosmetic counter, & did a total of 6 transactions all in the span of 11 minutes per my receipts. I had no probs with any RR but put the sodas back on the shelf when I heard the staff announcing the RR weren’t printing (this was around 11am). I don’t know my exact savings but I have $25 in RR left over + I’m mailing the Olay $20 rebate form out tomorrow as I used the remaining (5) $5 off wyb Secret coupons. I did CVS too & have $22 in ECBs remaining! This is my first BF sale since I started couponing about 7 months ago & I am doing the happy dance. My husband was with me & he’s still in “post-couponing @ Wags shock!” The ladies on this site have helped me immensely to learn the ins/outs of Wags & I am very grateful for all the advice!

I went to two Walgreens in my town today and both had signs up stating that customers were limited to 3 transactions. I wondered if this was just for this sale or from now on.

Thanks so much for the matchups! I’m having so much fun at Walgreens! We traveled for Thanksgiving, but I made sure that the town we’re staying in has a Wags, and what do you know? It’s less than a block fro the hotel! So I went Thanksgiving and this morning (Black Friday) and have gotten almost $100 of stuff for less than $5!!!! I started with $19 RR and now have $22. I plan on going again tomorrow. I had the same problem with the soda RR not printing (I was at Wags RIGHT when it opened so that’s probably why!) But the manager just gave me a dollar back for it…so that transaction only cost me $.06. Anyway, I’m having a blast!

And thanks for mentioning the wrapping paper deal…I never would have noticed if you hadn’t pointed it out! They have TONS of it at this Wags!

Hey! My husband and I went to 2 different Walgreens yesterday and it was awesome. It was fun to do it together and I would send him on searches to find the right product. We did like 10 transactions and spent $42.06 of my own cash and got over $300 worth of product. It was awesome! I want to go back again and do it some more. I also did not have any problems with the additional coupons that you suggested that made the razors, etc. money makers. It all went through fine and the ladies who checked us out were extremely helpful and patient. I made sure to thank them for their great service.

One question on the Planters Nut:

1. For the mail in rebate, if you check them out in different transactions, you will get multiple rebates. Someone tried to tell me that you can only do one per household. Is that true? Like one per address? Is that true?

2. If you check out two or three Planters Nuts at the same time, will it print two or three rebates?

I was thinking about going back and doing this again, since it’s such a great deal, but I thought I better find out first. Thanks!

Did good at Wags on Thursday, went in for all the “freebies”. Didn’t have any problems. I am so sorry to hear of some that were not able to use Q’s on RR deals, I would call corporate right there in the store!!!! Errrrr.

Reply

Christie November 26, 2010 at 12:43 pm

Cami – MIR are usually one per household/address and no PO Boxes. You would need to send the rebates to different addresses.

I am so sorry for all the people who had a difficult time at Walgreens. It is so frustrating when it doesn’t work out the way you expect. I just wanted to say that first because I’ve been there and have been disappointed too. This year was different for me! I just have to thank you so much Christie for all you do! I had 12 of the $5 off Secret/Olay Qs (thanks to a friend)! I was able to purchase $52.35 worth of P&G products for the MIR! I spent $36 exactly (including tax) out of pocket. But the best part: I was able to purchase 11 toys (the $9.99 toys were marked half off) out of that $36 (with Jingle Cash and Qs)! And I’m getting $20 back from the MIR! I can hardly believe it! I went to 5 Walgreens yesterday to do all the deals because some places the Jingle Cash wasn’t printing and other places were out of either Secret or Olay. But it was so worth it! We have had such a rough couple years, and now my 2-year-old is set for Christmas and his birthday in February! I cannot thank you enough, Christie!

For example, if anyone wants to know how I did a lot of it: I used your example of free diapers, only substituting a $4.99 toy instead of the diapers. So, I bought (2) Secret deodorants (.99 each) and (2) 2-pack of Olay bars (2/$4) and a $4.99 toy. I used (2) $5 off the Secret/Olay (taking $10 total off) The total came to $1.77 (including tax)! And gave me $1 back in Jingle Cash! I did that scenario a ton of times! Thanks again from the bottom of my heart!

Help! I bought both Scunci and the Bic razors in the same transaction – I got 2 different $2 RR. How do I know which one is from which? The numbers in the top left are different. One says 042594 and the other is 051001.

My Walgreens is wonderful. And I do understand the person stating they should limit transactions. My Walgreens does let us do more than one transaction and I usually do 4 everytime I go. My thinking is that there are 4 people in my family. So one for each person.

Tina: Check under the word Walgreens, right there says: RETAILER. …. the one for Scunci says “CONAIR”. Hope that helps. 🙂

I could only dream that my store would put all the freebies on one display like the above photo!! But I had a good time searching around the store for everything. Got 8 freebies and made $11 profit 🙂
