Updates From the Field 11/21!

by Christie Bisbee on November 21, 2010

Every Sunday I go out and try different deals and report back on what I found!  Here are some updates from my trip today that will hopefully make your shopping trip a little easier. 🙂

DOVE CHOCOLATE DEAL
Great news for you chocolate lovers out there! The Dove Promises ARE included in the in ad coupon for Mars Chocolates! I am a HUGE fan of the Dove Dark Chocolate Bars so I am a very happy camper. I would be happy is Santa just filled my stocking with Dove Dark Chocolate Bars!

Buy
3 – Mars Candy 1.1 to 2.17 oz. $.89 each or 2/$1.59
Total = $2.48
Use
-B2G1 FREE Dove Promises (1/16 – 1.3oz) PRINT (My cashier took of $.89)
-Use In ad Q for Mars (Takes Off $1.01)
TOTAL = $.20 EACH!

KLEENEX DEAL
The Kleenex Deal worked perfectly for me! I am now seriously stocked up for cold and flu season although I hope I won’t need all that kleenex. My store didn’t carry the 110 sheet or they were out but I was happy with the 78 sheets since they are the ones with lotion.

Buy
6 – Kleenex 78 or 110 sheets $1.39 each
Total = $8.34
Use
2 – $.50/3 Kleenex Facial Tissue (3) packages or (1) Bundle Pack – 11-07-10 SS x1/2/11
1 – In ad Q for Kleenex (Takes off $3.60)
Total = $3.74, Get Back $3 RR
= $.74 for all (6) or $.13 EACH!

OLAY BAR DEAL
The store I went to today had the trial sized Secret for $.99. (The store down the street has it for $1.29, go figure!) I was able to get the Trial sized Secret and the (2) pk of Olay Bars for FREE!

The best part is that this particular coupon didn’t beep for the $.01 of overage like 99.9% of manufacturer coupons do at Walgreens. So no worrying about adjusting the coupon down for a penny and all that nonsense. I find that often P&G coupons (and really ONLY P&G coupons) will occasionally give actual overage.

Just remember DO NOT USE the $1/1 Olay Bar, Body Wash, In Shower Body Lotion Or Hand And Body Lotion, Any – 10-31-10 PG x 11/30 on this deal. If you do, the register will think you used a $1 RR from Olay to pay and will NOT print out your Register Reward (or excuse me… Jingle Cash 😉 )

Buy
1 – Trial Sized Secret $.99 (or $1.29 depending on your store)
2 – Olay Bar 2pk 2/$4
Total = $4.99
Use
1 – $5/1 Olay Bar, Body Wash, In Shower Body L. Or Hand & Body Lotion, Any WYB (1) Secret, Any – 10-31-10 PG x11/30
Total = FREE with $.01 Overage!

I only used 1 of the $5/1 (because it was all I had!) but the register will allow you to use 2. It will of course be ultimately up to your cashier.

Buy
2- Trial Sized Secret $.99 (or $1.29 depending on your store)
2 – Olay Bar 2pk 2/$4
Total = $5.98
Use
2- $5/1 Olay Bar, Body Wash, In Shower Body L. Or Hand & Body Lotion, Any WYB (1) Secret, Any – 10-31-10 PG x11/30
Total = $4.02 MONEY MAKER!

Couldn’t you use two $5/1 coupons on this deal? Especially if the register would give you the overage without beeping in this case?

Kory – I believe you could but I did not have 2 to use! LOL!

Cool! I hadn’t gotten around to using these coupons yet. I’ll try it (if I find the products in stock) and report back!

Thanks for everything, as always!

They have the Dr. Pepper 4/$10 and the cashier gave me $2 reg rewards back. He said it was an error and that they were on sale last week with reg rewards. So Extra bonus! (until they get it fixed!)

My store does not have signs up for the $3 RR Kleenex deal.
Do some stores opt out of certain Register Reward deals?

Thanks for all your great information! I was planning on using my $1 coupon Thursday or Friday for the Olay body wash to make it free. Will that be a problem? I didn’t think coupons affected the RR’s printing, but I saw your note about the Olay coupon above.

Hey Cathy – If you use the 2 $1/1 on the bar soap no RR will come out. The RR and the coupon are both $1 and are coded the same way. So the register will think you are using $1 RR from buying Olay to try and buy more Olay. However the body wash is a $2.50 RR so you can use the $1/1 coupon on that with no problems. 🙂

Terry – The Kleenex is a monthly deal that runs till Saturday. None of my stores have signs either. It should work just fine though.

Christie thanks for your help. I just went out and got the kleenex and my creamer so I have it in the morning (just ran out today and was happy to see this deal).

Christie – when buying the 2 99c secrets and 2 olays at $2/4, when you get the overage, basically I just need to buy something worth that overage to eat it up, right? and I’ll get it for free?

So my question is when I was looking at my weekly ad I noticed the kleenex store coupon says a limit of 3. Did you get the six in one order or did you do seperate orders. I’m trying to roll some $5 p&g rr. Also one last question. I haven’t been using p&g rr to buy p&g products because I not sure if the system will print out my new RR. If you could help with these questions it would be great.
thanks

Margaret – Yes, 6 in one order and the in ad Q will take off for all 6. In fact my cashier accidentally rang up 9 at first and the in ad q took off for all 9, so there ya go. As long as the P&G RR aren’t the same amount you’ll be fine. But if you use a $5 P&G RR to buy something else that gives a $5 RR from P&G it won’t print.

Carrie – Exactly. You’d need to buy something else to eat up the overage. It’s unusual to get overage with a MQ at Wags so this is a nice surprise! It’s usually only the Wags Qs that allow overage.

Theresa – I’m still drinking my creamer from last time it went on sale but I’m down to my last bottle, so I guess I need to buy some too! 🙂

The deal on the Kleenex didn’t print the RR for me. I bought two 4-pack starbucks drinks & 6 boxes of kleenex. I saw the limit of 3 but went ahead and tried it any way and it did take the $3.60 off. I used 2-$1/1 coupons for the starbucks and 2-$2 RR from a previous visit. The register did not print the $3 RR 🙁 Any advice?

Stephanie – Call the Catalina company. There were ads that came out of the Catalina machine all month long for this promotion. You can find their number in the “Help my RR didn’t print” section of my tool bar.

I am new to all this!! 🙂
I tried doing the chocolate deal and the mars coupon said it had to be a king size and my store didn’t carry that size.
I also tired to do the kleenex deal & didn’t know what in ad Q mean’t??
I did do the secret and oil of olay deal!! Thanks!! 🙂

I think Stephanie may have been an item short for the RR.

In my 11/7 Smart Source, though, my Kleenex coupon is Buy 3 get one free.

Donna – In ad Q means the coupon in the Walgreens paper. Give your manufacturer coupon first.
