I wanted to remind you about the AARP special deal that was in the ad 9/19 HERE. It continues through 10/23 so if you are an AARP member you may want to take advantage of it before it’s gone. Here’s the deal…
*Spend $20 from 9/19 – 10/23 & Receive a Coupon for $5 OFF Your Next Purchase
You’ll need to have your AARP card with you to get this deal since the cashier will need to swipe it. The $20 is calculated before taxes & after all other Walgreens discounts are applied. It doesn’t specify anything about manufacturers coupons. If you have an AARP card and do this deal let us know how it goes!
(Thanks Elaine!)

My mom did this deal as an AARp member. The $20 is pre-coupons.
I saw a sign on the window of Walgreen’s the other day. It was on the side facing the parking lot that I almost never use. When I asked one of the supervisors about it she didn’t know and called one of the main front end cashiers. She told her she thought it was only one time and you got a coupon for water or something. Seems like she was making stuff up. Why is it that the employees never know what it going on. Had I known what this was about, I would have done it. I’m not blaiming them for my forgetting to have them swipe my card but on the other hand if they had been able to tell me the “truth” about this deal I sure would have remembered to have my card swiped the 3 times that I have been in there purchasing well over $20 in products. But that’s Walgreen’s for ya.
I did this deal. Cashier didn’t know what to do so asked manager, not MOD, but manager. Swiped my card per instructions. I noticed I had a $5RR, so I left happy. When I got home, I noticed the $5 was for something else, and I didn’t get an AARP RR afterall. Knew it was useless to go back.
What is a MOD? And that person wasn’t lying… you do get a coupon for water if you use your AARP card, on top of the 5RR if you spend $20.
Information for promotion is available at http://www.walgreens.com/aarpcard. New offer listed for 10/24-11/20. Click on Program Rules for details. Program began on 9/19/10. You may only receive one offer, per account, per calendar week (Sunday through Saturday). Let’s help our hardworking Wags employees be able to assist AARP members by referring the employees to the website. The preparation for the weekly sales is unbelievable.
I did not mean that they were lying, you are reading something into what I said that I didn’t mean. I would just like to go into Walgreen’s and have the employees say that they have been made aware of promotions that are going on in their own place of employment where they deal with the public. It must be hard for them to not know what is going on all the time when they are asked by customers. That is what I hear from the employees, they don’t even know that they have a corporate coupon policy now. They do work hard and I love them but they have to answer our questions with information that they are given so they can serve the customer.
Oh I forgot, I printed off some copies of the AARP information from the Walgreen’s/AARP website. I will take them in the next time I am there. Thank you for posting that link.
