Awesome! Can you tell me how long this sale is going on?
Certainly all next week and the $2/1 Wags Q is good till Sept. 25th.
The Sept Coupon book coupon says “Manufacturer Coupon” good only at Walgreens.
How can you use a Manufacturer coupon with a manufacturer coupon?
Hot tip Christie – thanks!
Hi Stephen – Those are not real MQ, you couldn’t use them any where but Walgreens, just like the Qs in the ad. The registers are set up to accept both as long as you use the MQ first. Most stores will allow you to stack them, some will not.
I have many examples of actual walgreens ads encouraging you to use both a MQ and a monthly coupon booklet coupon. You’ll find most of them under “tips and ideas”. I will post them whenever I notice one which is usually at least once a month. I keep them in my binder 😉
Does this start sunday or is it good today also?
and when u buy 3….why use the $3 coupon and not 3 $8.00 coupons??
wouldnt that make overage alot more?
Christie,
Thanks for the great deal. I was wondering in order to absorb the overage do we need to buy a filler without the coupons or will it still work if I buy something using coupons and still have to pay some amount out of pocket. I dont want the register to beep :P.
Is this trans good for today?:)
I have access to 3 computers so here’s what I’m thinking….
Buy 7 Dulcolax balance at $7 (rounded )each
Total: $49
-6 $8 off dulcolax coupons ($48)
– $2 off dulcolax wags booklet coupon ($14)
Net total: $13 in overage 🙂
Lemme know if this will work!
Victoria…..if u have 3 computer and 6 $8 off coupons….why would u buy 7 dulcolax and not just 6?
Adam…
NO Beepage, Less Hastle, Under the Radar ;o)
awww…I missed this…says print limit is over
Lisa-I just printed them a minute ago-maybe try again?
I just did this deal buying the Dulcolax + Impruv + 39 cent halloween russel stove. The $8 MQ did beep and the register machine refuse to accept it. But I had a great cashier (my favourite cashier whom is the only one that I dare to attempt funking deals like this :P) that managed to get it in! So it’s really a YMMV thing and I hope you have a great cashier when doing this. The $2 IVC Q went through with no problems (I scanned this last). I did this set twice and both times the $8 MQ beeped. I guess it’s because the coupon was above the value of the product itself.
Another thing to share was that my main shelf was out of the 7 day Dulcolax bottles, but I did notice some hiding at the top rack near the cold meds. 🙂 So you may want to hunt higher and try your luck. They scanned the promo price.
This worked great for me. A great filler I found to absorb that $4.00 overage : the regularly $3.99 frozen hamburgers marked down to $1.09. I didn’t clear the shelf and my cashier was glad of that when she saw what I had!! Great day at Wags no beepage!!
I don’t have time to read the whole thread but I am wondering why if you have two $8 coupons, why you can’t use them both on two, but separately? and use filler items? I am very confused. I am also confused as to all the different scenarios and why is a coupon beeping? Someone have time to explain all of this to me and maybe some others? Thanks.
I DID THIS TODAY, WORKED GREAT, BUT LATER I BEGAN TO WONDER WHY DO WE BUY 3 DOCOLAX? COULD WE BUY 2 AT 6.99, USE TWO $8 OFF AND THE wag FOR $2 OFF EACH MAKING IT A $6 OVERAGE?
ALSO MY DULCOLAX HAD A $5 MIR, CAN WE DO THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE FREE?
I wonder as well why, if you are buying 2 bottles and have 2 $8 coupons, you can’t use 2 coupons on 2 bottles? Is it because the total for the coupons ($16) would be greater than the total for the 2 bottles ($14)? Is it a problem doing that? I have been doing Wags for quite a while and have not run into something like this before . . .
Peg and Elisa
There is no actual problem buying 2 bottles and using 2 $8 coupons, but the register will beep because you are going over the amount of the 2 bottles. In order to be less of a hassle people are buying 3, still getting overage and staying under the radar. HTH
If you buy 3 bottles and use 2 $8 and one $3 (found in 9/12 SS) it will be $1.97. If you buy 2 bottles and use 2 $8 coupons it will be -$2.02, therefore it will beep
Walgreens registers 99.9% of the time will not give you overage with a MQ. (It happens once in a blue moon and usually with a P&G Q).
You could use 1 coupon on (1) bottle but it will beep and then you get to have the discussion about adjusting down your coupon down from $8 to $6.99. I’d say 99.5% of cashiers will not know that it’s part of the new coupon policy to adjust down a coupon. So, then you get to call over a manager who most likely won’t know either.
Then (20 minutes later) if you are able to get them to adjust down your coupon, you’ll get to have the conversation about using the coupon from the Sept. book too. Honestly, my head hurts just thinking about it.
I go for the beepless hassle free transaction every time. So that’s why I wrote the scenario the way I did. No beeps, no stress, no conflict, no headache, no 20 minute argument and you get $4 in overage. Works for me! 🙂
Jen – I’d give the MIR a shot if the dates are still valid. I think I’d risk a stamp for $5. 🙂
Kayla – Good Explanation!
can i buy 2 dulcolax
use 2/8.00
use sept Q from walgreens
and then buy something else to cover the overage which mean 6.02 overage..?????
leeng
the register will beep. Use the scenario Christie said for a hassle free transaction. Then buy something else to cover the overage
I had the $5 MIR too but it expired Feb 2010. Do check if the date is current.
I think I’m lucky to have that 0.05% cashier that let my $8 go through on one Dulcolax + IVC (I got other stuff to absorb the overage)! But I do finally see how the 3 bottles and 2 $8 MQ and 1 $3 MQ works now. And yes, less radar is good. I wouldn’t have tried this deal with any other cashier.
Good luck everyone!
I just had a terrible experience at Walgreens! I tried to get 2 and absorb the overage with other items but they refused to let me use the $8 off coupon at all. They wouldn’t even adjust the price down they just said I couldn’t use it! I finally gave up and just left, I think I will try getting 3 bottles in your described scenario at another Walgreens. I just stopped in on my lunchbreak to pick up the items quick and didn’t have time to go round and round about it so I just left! Ugh!
I also suggest you call corporate and complain since they are supposed to adjust the coupon down based on their own policy!
thank you Christy
The last time I tried to do this kind of a deal (Visine) I a was accused of coupon fraud. Stood there told the cashier yo call the cops. Left without buying anything, only store in town. Called coorporate,a50 minute phone call. Got the manager’s call after a week who then started acusing me of using another stores coupons (MQ’s with CVS logo on it that was the same as the MQ with the WAG logo came from the same booklet, different store).Got a written apology by mail, haven’t opened it yet. It upset me for a long time. I am a seasoned couponer who teaches others how to coupon and for that to happen was too much for me. I have anxiety just thinking about doing this one even with “good” cashiers. That is being “above the radar”=NOT GOOD.
I bought three of them tonight; works like a charm. I have had problems in the past with my nearest Walgreens taking IP, so I went in and spoke to the manager before doing anything. I used the 4.03 overage to buy Children’s Tylenol and used my 6 RR to buy the Colgate toothbrush and some candies. Ended up paying 73 cents for 3 Dulcolax, two M&Ms, one box of runts, one Colgate toothbrush, and three stride gums. Used the 6RR I had and got back 2RR. Not a bad deal, as we needed the Children’s tylenol!
My store will not let me have overage at all. If I try they tell me that can’t take the Sept. coupon b/c I can’t make money on anything 🙁
Dianne,
I had the same experience… So, I patiently let the manager know that he was quite free to institute any store policies he wanted, as he IS the store manager… However, for him to even toy with the notion of accusing me of coupon fraud, would naturally require that he understood a thing or two about coupons in the first place.
THAT put a sock in it.
I think the best thing to “absorb” some of the Dulcolax overage are the Depends undies with the mail-in-rebate. Lord knows you’ll need them after all of that Dulcolax!! 🙂
My Walgreens wouldn’t allow me to use the $8 coupon on the $6.99 product so I whipped out my Walgreens Coupon Policy and guess what? It says they can’t take a coupon that is for more than the cost of the product 🙁 I even tried to talk them into using the total of the 3 items and the total of the combined coupons?? But still no luck. Oh well I wasn’t having tummy troubles anyway!! Maybe I’ll try it again at my other Walgreens.
My store refused to take any printable coupons. I was furious I called corporate two separate times since it happened at two different stores. I was really looking forward to taking advantage of the Dulcolax offer but I was shot down twice. And If I recall correctly their new policy states that they are to mark down a coupon meaning I would get at least those two bottles for free. Then with my $4.00 off on the third and the $2 Sept coupon I could still manage to get some overage but I too was accused of coupon fraud. Again, I was furious.
