Updates From The Field 8/1!

by Christie Bisbee on August 1, 2010

So I’ve got great news to report this morning, the IVC from the ad and the IVC from the Walgreens Monthly coupon book both worked perfectly! I was able to pick up FREE Listerine, FREE Benadryl and Money Making Visine (my favorite kind 😉 ).

There were various Visine types that rang up at $3.99 but the Visine A and the Visine Maximum relief did not. However a -$2/1 Any Visine, Any Catalina did print out when I tried the Visine A.

Also, if you buy the Listerine Whitening guess what, a -$2/1 Listerine Whitening Rinse, Any Catalina will print out! So you can use that to get the NEXT bottle FREE! If you still have the $2/1 from coupons.com that was available earlier in the month you can use that for your 1st purchase. (Another example of print the coupon when you see it not when you need it!)

I will say it’s possible for a store to program their registers to not accept one of the IVC coupons so I’d pick these up early in the week. Hope there are some left tomorrow!  So here are the double dipping IVC coupon deals…

Hi Christie-
I found $1 peelies on the solution this morning, as well as quite a few $.02 fillers. Thought your readers might want to know to watch for them. http://athriftypenny.blogspot.com/2010/08/surprises-at-walgreens.html

I got the free visine today too! I’m going to go back for the listerine (and more visine). Also, when I bought the contact solution, there was a $1 MF peelie on it – so it was actually a $1 money maker!!!

Yep! The Visine worked wonderfully! I didn’t want to try the Listerine (incase the whole 2 IVC thing wouldn’t work and I’m only allowed 3 transactions per day at my ONLY store within 30m). 🙂
I bought 3 in my last transaction. They were priced #3.99. I got the “original”.

Hi Christy,

This is great! Thanks so much for all you do to figure out these deals! I’d be staring at the ad and thinking everything was a good price…we all know that’s not true now!

I have a question about these scenarios, especially for the Visine. Can we do transactions with other things that have store coupons like the Listerine and the Benadryl and say something like the ban that isn’t “double dipping” but just has an in ad coupon? Would you give all your coupons first at the end in order from MFR, In ad IVC, then Aug IVC and it would take all of them off for every item? Or would it freak it out so it’s better to just do them in seperate transactions?

Also, could you buy 3 visines and get 3.03 overage as long as you buy other things or is that just the one they would work for? I don’t know how August IVCs works if you buy more than one. Thank you soooo much!

i bought the benedryl with no problem this morning. they were priced at $9.49 and with the $4/2 q and the 2 wags qs i ended up paying $1.50 each. Not to bad at all for 96 benedryl!!

I found $1 peelies on the Complete Solution this morning, as well as a selection of $.02 fillers! http://athriftypenny.blogspot.com/2010/08/surprises-at-walgreens.html

The Visine deal worked for me! I didn’t try the other two as we have enough mouthwash and Benedryl to supply my family and the in-laws for years, but I can always use the Visine at work! My eyes get super dry from staring at a computer screen all day.
Thanks for posting these!

Hi Christy- Thanks for all your hard work, I look forward every week to see your match ups! How much was your Listerine? I tried the whitening restoring for $6.49 and after the MQ, in ad Q, then IVC beeped, so needless to say I had her void it off! Maybe I will try again tomorrow at another Wags! Also what is the Prepare for Allergy Season? Is it available near the pharmacy? Thanks

The Visine deal worked fine for me but when I did the Listerine deal and the benadryl, both the IVC and weekly ad coupons beeped( I had 4 items were there as filler). Now I did receive a $5 register reward for the benadryl, so after the manager took off the $3 it was still technically a moneymaker, plus I did receive a different catalina for $3/2total care mouthwash when you also by floss or a toothbrush. The manager insisted the aug coupon was a manufacturer Q., so they did not fly at the store I tried the senario above. Still a good day ( did the SOBE deal at CVS and got 40 bottles of Lifewater for the price of tax!) Thanks for working out details but I guess it will be YMMV!

I only had a problem with the Listerine. Both my IVC and the weekly add coupons beeped too! They wouldn’t override it for me thought bc they said there was no way to do that since it was a Walgreens coupon????? Any advice, I see Maria had it overridden.

Thanks for everything you do!!!!! I was able to use todays 3$/3 bandaid, Neosporin, Cortaid, etc Coupon for the First Aid Kit. Also when the cashier was scanning my Benadry $4/2 coupon it also accepted it for the first aid kit. I used it for the Benadryl but it may be another option not sure.

Thank you for the great match ups Christy as always!
I came back from my closest store and am so upset. It’s my fault though. At the check out, $3 Rembrandt Tn-ad coupon beeped, because my total was less than $3. From the start, the cashier complaint about that I used too many coupons and this is ilegal(Course NOT!)to use both in-ad & booklet coupons, blah blah blah. I had a guy customer behind me and she blamed me in front of him was so embarrasing and made me upset. I was too upset, so I didn’t think of adding some fillers, also cashier didn’t help me at all. She said to me that she couldn’t understand why I was complain to pay just couple of dollars. I paid more than I estimate, and I felt so miserable. I’m going to leave a feedback to Walgreens. I never ever shop that store again.
Sorry for my vent.

Rochelle August 1, 2010 at 7:08 pm

I did both the visine and the listerine together and in separate transactions and they all worked perfectly. I just wanted to say that I didn’t receive any extra catalina coupons for future purchases though 🙁 Thanks for all the matchups!!

Christie August 1, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Rochelle – Did you buy the same Listerine as I did in my picture? Just wondering if maybe only this kind spits out the RR.

Karin – Sorry about the grumpy cashier. I wish these people would realize that when you use coupons you buy more stuff, which means the store makes more money! The store making money = she has a job.

Stephanie – Your store may have programmed the registers to not accept them. Try a different store. Good Luck!

Rochelle August 1, 2010 at 9:35 pm

I did receive the RR but I had read reports of extra $2 catalina coupons being spit out as well. I only received the RR and I purchased a flavored Total Care.

All these deals worked perfectly at 2 stores…the Listerine in-ad beeped at the 3rd store. Cashier did a price modify for me.

Are there any printable Listerine Q’s out there? We didn’t get any in our paper. Thanks!

Just in case people are still having issues with their stores accepting the in-ad IVC and August monthly IVC, my local stores actually had signs up by the Benadryl that encouraged people to use both together. I do live in the test area which means I don’t have to clip the weekly ad coupon, it automatically comes off when they scan my rewards card, but I used the monthly and manufacture coupons with no beeps or issues at all. I was disappointed to find that they raised the orginal price on the benadryl to 9.49 (it was 8.49 last week!)but it still was cheaper than what I would pay for generic so that’s good enough for me.

hi christie,
am new at couponing at walgreens and i always get confused in the end. i was looking at your visine match-up. can i actually use all three on one visine or will i need fillers to do this?
thanks.

Reply

Christie August 2, 2010 at 9:18 am

Teresa – You can usually use 1 manuf. coupon and 1 store coupon. This time there are (2) store coupons. So you would use 1 manfu. and 1 store coupon from the ad and 1 store coupon from the August Walgreens coupon book. Hope that helps!

Reply

Francoise August 2, 2010 at 10:46 am

Teresa, you don’t need to count walgreens store coupons in your coupon total, only manuf coupons. Which in this case, there’s only one, so no filler required… unless, of course you have overage.

DOUG August 2, 2010 at 1:43 pm

Did they Visine deal with no problems. The cashier gave me back the 2 Walgreen coupons since they throw them anyway. Saved me some cutting time for my next purchase. Will try the Listerine deal on Tuesday.

Kate August 2, 2010 at 1:56 pm

The Visine was $4.79 at my store.
I ended up paying $0.58 for two and took back one of my coupons. I was in a rush and forgot to grab a filler item to eat the overage.

$0.24 each for Visine is an amazing deal. I’ll probably go back and get more later this week. No Catalina though.

Any Listerine coupons out there? I spent the one from May.
I have a few $1/1 Listerine Whitening but they were out of these. Only had Total Care.

Does anybody know if the Listerine in-ad coupon and the Listerine August booklet coupon will work for the Listerine Whitening original and Listerine Vibrant? The coupons state it is for the Listerine Restoring only, however I was able to use them for the Vibrant in the past.

Hi,

I got this Listerine from another deal awhile back, actually have 3-4 bottles. I tried it one day and it tasted sour. My daughter doesn’t like the taste either but it does seem to whiten teeth. Great deal but I did not care for the taste but maybe others will like it.

does the Visine A coupon work on the original visine?

Reply

Rachel August 2, 2010 at 4:23 pm

Surprisingly enough, I was able to get a huge overage with the Visine deal today. It probably had something to do with having a great cashier who is used to me. I bought:

1 Visine for contacts @ 3.99
1 Visine original @ 3.99
1 9 roll Quilted Northern @ 4.29 (needed TP)
Total: 12.27
Used 2 $2 off Visine found here: http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=zekgdph33763560&bt=vg&o=62993&c=VA&p=d6tT9Zbx

(Worked for the regular and contact kinds

Used The in-ad coupon (x2)
Used the IVC (x2)

This left me with a subtotal of 12 cents!

I know, I couldn’t believe it either!

Just a little irritated. I tried the Listerine deal. The in add coupon $2 and IVC $2 – I did not have MQ. The manager at the Walgreens on Cottage Hill said no way. I could only use 1 of the Walgreen coupons. Bummer…….

Karen August 2, 2010 at 7:01 pm

Thanks for the Visine coupon. How will it work with the friends & family coupon—-will we need a filler item for that coupon or is just like the other WAGS coupons and doesn’t count? I have the 15% coupons printed and ready to go.

Karen August 2, 2010 at 7:21 pm

I just received the 8/8/10 Red Plum and there is a 2.00 off any Visine in there too!

Reply

Chris August 2, 2010 at 7:37 pm

Was able to do all the deals today with no problems on accepting the coupons. Our Wags is higher priced in this area Visine $4.99 (so was free) Listerine $6.99 for the same one pictured and it did produce a $2.00 cat for same product – Benadryl is $6.49. There is also a $5.00 RR for 24 ct Benadryl – when you buy two priced at $5.49 or $6.49. Our store had $1.50 and $1.00 peelies.
NOW, how do you get the RP 8-8-10 with the $2.00 Visine? I would like to buy another before Saturday 8-7-10.

I recieved mine in the mail with a local grocery flyer today. There’s a printable link above from Rachel post #29. I had printed 2 of those before I received the mail.

Wendy August 2, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Ok, so I tried to use the manufacture coupon and the in add coupon and the August coupon for the Listerine mouthwash, and the computer beeped on me> the manager was called and he said that you can only use one walgreens coupon per item. I know that I have been able to use these coupons together at my store before. I was at the walgreens in Roy, Ut. today. I even showed him the scenerio print out from this website, but he wouldn’t budge on it. So I didn’t end up buying it.

Reply

Christie August 2, 2010 at 10:07 pm

Wendy – Your store (like some stores) must have programmed it that way.

And for the record my site doesn’t have any bearing on what the store will and won’t let you do. So, showing them my stuff won’t get you anywhere, thrown out of the store maybe, but that’s about it! LOL. 😉

Julia August 2, 2010 at 11:47 pm

Mine wouldn’t let me use the Aug IVC with the other coupons. It also didn’t want to take the in-ad Q with the manufacter’s Q’s that I had. But the manager did override that one. It wouldn’t take & so she just modified the price down to $3.99 for me. Then I had 2 – $2 coupons. Still did well for that stuff, I think, but would have loved to have been able to use the other coupon. I may try the benedryl tomorrow at another store, but didn’t want to hassle with it today. The manager seemed a little grumpy – teeheee. 🙂 Also, the reason they won’t let me use the Aug IVC with the others is that it says right on there “manufacter’s coupon” so they treat it as such even though it can only be used at Walgreens. I think they treat it the same as the RR that print from the manufacter’s.

Does any one have the coupon policies for Walgreens for using coupons? Or where do I get one? My store would not let me use the Mq, in ad and ivc coupons. How does everyone else get this to work? I would like to prove to them that what I am trying to do is legal and I am not trying to break the rules. Thanks

Shelly August 3, 2010 at 3:55 pm

Went to three different walgreens.

Store #1 the benadryl worked but not the listerine – both Aug IVC and the weekly IVC beeped on the listerine and she wouldn’t put them thru.

Store #2 the listerine worked somewhat (only the weekly ivc beeped, not the aug one) but the lady wouldn’t let me use all three coupons on the benadryl so I only got the listerine

Store #3 the benadryl worked and I got a $2 catalina for the listerine So I will try the listerine either here or the second store tomorrow.

Missy August 3, 2010 at 7:00 pm

I got the listerine but with lots of problems and no catalinas. I went to two different stores. the coupons didnt work at either of them but the managers were very nice and did a price modify. I used my 15% coupon today, manufacture and the two walgreens coupons and got one for .84 cents, the other was .99 cents plus tax.
