FREE Poise & $4.50/1 Cover Girl!

by Christie Bisbee on June 16, 2010

I got some really great Catalina coupons yesterday!

-$4.50/1 Cover Girl Lash Exact, Volume Exact, Lash Blast Length, Exact Eyelights Mascara, Line Exact Liquid Liner, Exact Eyelights Liner, Exact Eyelights Eye Shadow or Smokey Shadows

-FREE Poise Product, any one (maximum value $4)

Now you may be wondering what I bought to trigger these.  All I bought was Nivea Active 3 Body Wash and some Coffeemate. So after they printed I went grabbed two identical items and nothing printed. Here’s where it gets a little more interesting. Unlike other Catalinas these don’t seem to be triggered by what I bought but how I bought it.

I got these when using a credit card to pay, when I paid cash nothing came out!

This is not the first time I have noticed that I tend to get these types of Catalinas when I use my credit card or my debit card to pay.  I suspect Catalina is collecting information on my purchases and using them to determine what offers to give me. When I pay cash, there’s no history so therefore no high value Catalina.  Although I have no idea what makes them think I would need Poise!  LOL.  So that’s my theory!

I also got a poise coupon yesterday when I paid with a debit card. Funny, I don’t need them yet either, but maybe they think it will not be long since I will be turning 40 in 2 weeks. 🙂

I also got the cover girl coupon last week. I went in to use it this week, only to find there were many mascara types that were being discontinued, so I got mascara for better than free with that coupon!

I’ve now gotten THREE $8.00 off covergirl catalinas (for any face product I believe), and you’re right! They don’t seem to be triggered by what you buy! I definitely paid with a credit card for each of the purchases.

I used my debit card and got a $3.50 Cover Girl catalina and a $2 Biore Green Tea makeup wipes cat (which might have been triggered by the Neutrogena makeup wipes I bought).

Target does the same thing… they told me they collect purchase info that is tied to the card you use. So if you buy a lot of detergent with your credit card, you will get more Target store catalina coupons for detergent (etc)

There are definitely some $8 cover girl catalinas. I found one on the ground outside the store yesterday in the pouring rain. I picked it up, dried it off, took it to a local grocery store having a P&G catalina deal for a nice moneymaker. The cat I picked up was for the TruBlend series and certain types of foundations.

Hi!
Let me just say this is the best WAGS website I have found. I have been looking for a website that explained transaction ideas and every ale possibleat WAGS. I’m good at grocery shopping but WAGS always scared me! lol It looks so confusing but with your transaction ideas it’s great because I can see exactly what I need to do nstead of hitting and missing or just getting a buck once or twice when I’d try. Thank you so much for this! I took your transaction ideas and kind of tweeked it a bit so thanks to you I’m planning on spending 16 bucks total this week, getting way over a hundred bucks worth of stuff and will have 26 in RR after it all. That’s awesome! Thank you thank you sooo much for this website! Ok, I wrote a novel, Im just so excited that you do this! 🙂

I got the Free Poise coupon yesterday at Walgreens and I’ve never purchased them before. Paid w/credit card too

On my other transactions I got a bunch of Midas auto coupons and something about Dish Network which I tossed in the trash on the way out

I don’t remember which transaction triggered the catalinas, but I got an $8 cover girl and a $3 cover girl catalina in the same transaction. It looks like one is on face products and the other is on eye products.

I received the same catalinas at Walgreens when I too used my CC to pay. Then yesterday at Kroger, I also paid with CC and recieved them there as well along with several other free item cats.

I dont ever get these good ones when paying cash!

I get these when paying cash, HOWEVER, I’m in one of the test markets (portland, OR) where we have Wagreens reward cards. With the card I don’t need to clip the instore coupons and they can certainly keep track of the things I buy, like a credit card. Thought you might want to know.

P.S. Thanks for the great site!

That’s interesting, the rewards card can track your purchases instead, sort of like the CVS card.

Maybe my area doesn’t get any of these great Catalinas. I often use my CC for purchases, but when I bought the U by Kotex tampons from a few weeks ago, I didn’t even get the competitor tampax Catalina like everyone else.

I got those two Cats too and also one for $1.50 off Gillette body wash which I turned around and used at Rite Aid to help make the body wash deal a money-maker! (CVS wouldn’t accept it because it said Redeem at Walgreems, even though it’s a manu coupon).

I use my credit card and debit card all the time at Walgreens and never get any good catalinas except for the free Always a couple weeks ago. My friend shops at another Walgreens 10 miles away, pays cash, and gets great catalinas all the time. So it might also be that certain stores offer better cats.

Shoprite in NJ gave me a cat for a free Poise product. Think Poise are on a product push.

I used my CC again today and all I received was a crappy satellite tv advertisement. I’m so jealous of everyone! Luckily I can always find good Catalinas laying around Kroger 😉

About needing Poise, it may have more to do with HOW MANY kids one has birthed than HOW OLD one is. Just sayin… ;oP (Don’t ask me how I know!)

I got the Poise cat yesterday when I bought groceries at my grocery store (paid with plastic)

I got two Poise cats yesterday, one at Safeway and one at King Soopers (Kroger chain.) They are both FREE (up to $4) but Safeway wanted nearly $6 for them. I didn’t even bother to check King Soopers. When I got the always cats at Wags a few weeks ago they said up to a certain value too and everything Wags carried was more than that value. I had my GREAT cashier and she took the full value off my bill.

I got the poise (umm….I’m 28 lol) and also a high value $2 off cottonelle wipes catalina.

Yep, just for the record I’m not in the Poise demographic either, more like the baby diaper demographic 🙂

I received a $4 Poise coupon when I paid for some Energizer batteries at the Photo Dept. – used a debit card.

I went to Wags today, paid with a credit card and didn’t get anything!

Re: the Midas coupons…a cashier told me that anytime you use a manufacture coupon, you get a Midas coupon. Since I always use coupons at Wags, I always get them. However, I’m actually using mine this week since I’m way overdue for an oil change and this week’s coupon includes a tire rotation!

I definitely do think Catalina uses your credit card to track purchases. Target has done this for a long time with their checkout coupons.
