I got 30% off $30 multi-brand purchase. Which essentially is $9 off.

Hey Cheri, I got 30% off $40 last week. It read that it was not good on sale items, but it did work for all sale items in my transaction, and since is a 30% off, I was able to go way over $40 and got a big discount with this coupon. It’s possible that they have fixed that working on sale items glitch, but you know if you feel like trying…

Harriet, thanks so much for your post! I always groaned when I’d open my coupons and find a percentage off instead of dollars/points off. They always say that they aren’t good on sale items, and when do I EVER buy anything at Walgreens that isn’t on sale?! This time around I had the 30% off a $30 purchase. Your post inspired me to give it a try. I worked out a shopping trip that would still be a good deal if I didn’t get the percentage off . . . but would be an incredible deal if I did.

I bought 6 tubes of Crest ($3.99 each), 2 tubes of Colgate ($2.99 each) and 3 12-packs of dietCoke ($11.97 for 3). ALL of those prices are sale prices. I had digital coupons for everything – $8/4 Crest, $4/2 Crest, $4/2 Colgate and $2/3 dietCoke. The total was $41.89 before coupons. The system deducted the dietCoke coupon first (makes sense – it would be a store coupon instead of a manufacturers coupon) and then took 30% off of the rest . . . which was $12.00 off! The $8 Crest coupon came off, but the $4 one didn’t. (The manager gave me 5000 points to make up for that.) In all of the confusion over the Crest coupon, I didn’t realize until just now that the system only took off a $2 coupon for the Colgate. (Rats! This could have been even better! LOL) In the end, I paid $19.29 OOP. I got a $7 Crest RR, a $2 Colgate RR and the 5000 points which comes to a total of $14. That means that I paid $5.29 for 8 tubes of toothpaste (which will go to the food bank) and 3 12-packs of dietCoke including tax! The Catalina machine even spit out a coupon for 5000 points off a $20 purchase. Pretty sure I can put that to good use, too.

So thanks again for the great advice, Harriet! You’re my hero!

Yay! I’m glad it worked out for you Terri. Even with only the $2 Colgate coupon that was a great deal.

My coupon is $9 off of $30. Is the $9 off of $30 before coupons are deducted? I also have a $4 off of 2 Tide which could be used on the P&G sale. Thank you for all of your time putting these offers together.

Hey Joanne, it’s $30 BEFORE any manufacturer’s coupons but after Walgreens coupons. For example if you have coupons from the monthly book, then you have to reach $30 after subtracting those. I’m assuming your $4/2 Tide coupon is a manufacturer’s coupon, so it will be before that one.
