Balance Reward Program Changes & Money Making Clip2Card Thank You Coupon!

by Christie- on October 5, 2018

program changesBy now you all should have gotten the official notice by email from Walgreens with the balance reward redemption changes that I posted last week. Starting 11/4, you’ll only be able to redeem a maximum of $5 (5,000 Balance Reward Points) per transaction, and the redemptions will be allowed in $1, $2, $3, $4 or $5 increments with $1 (1,000 Balance Reward Points) equaling $1.

As a way to say thanks, Walgreens gave us all a $5 (5,000 Balance Reward Points) Clip2Card bonus. Check your Walgreens Account for this Thank you 5000 Bonus points coupon. This one with the Thank you on the upper left is not a threshold coupon. There is also a different threshold sneak peek coupon now for next week that is $5 (5,000 Balance Reward Points) for spending $25.

For this Thank you coupon I received my points when I made a small purchase of $1.60. I used $1 (1,000 Balance Reward Points) points to pay and 60¢ in cash, and still received my $5 (5,000 Balance Reward Points).

At the bottom of the email there is a link for you to go leave feedback on the new program changes. I know you all feel strongly about this, so I would encourage you to share your thoughts!

Remember if you have lots of points accumulated, you’ll still have until 11/3 to redeem those points with that maximum $50 value per transaction that is still in effect. And you’ll still get the benefit of the extra 20% bonus of using only 40,000 pts to get $50. So, if you are a point hoarder, like me, be sure to spend the majority of your points by that time to get the biggest bang for your buck!

I am sad about this. Used to save up to 40,000 to get my kids their stocking stuffers and Easter basket fillers.

You still can. You just have to redeem them in multiple smaller transactions, which should be fine when you’re buying a bunch of small inexpensive items like that.

I like to use 40,000 points for big ticket items.Very disappointed. I will do more shopping at CVS now.

I agree, JoAnne. I did the same thing and was thinking the same thing about maybe shopping more at CVS now.

Also, why bother trying to earn points!

I loved to watch my Balance Rewards grow. Saved them for more expensive purchases. Felt really “rewarded” after the work it took to accumulate them!! What a huge disappointment!!! Christie…is there a certain Walgreens contact that we could use to voice our displeasure?
