Jennifer from Clearwater, FL sent me these pictures of what she found when she went to her store. They were limiting customers to just (1) Nivea Body Wash when using the Sunday $3 coupon. I understand instituting limits but just (1)!
When seeing this I couldn’t help but wonder if this is in some way a reaction to TLC’s Extreme Couponing. If you haven’t caught this show on TLC, let’s just say Extreme Couponing doesn’t’ present us couponers in the best light. In recent episodes you can watch one shopper clear a shelf of 93 bags of croutons, another dump an entire basket of Excedrin into her cart, yet another exclaim that she left nothing on the shelf for anyone else. Since when is clearing shelves considered something to be proud of?
My guess is that the large quantities of these products were ordered ahead of time specifically for the show, however the “newbie” coupon user doesn’t know that. They just see someone going in clearing shelves, taking 100+ of something or doing 18 transactions and holding up a register for 5 hours. Could you imagine what would happen if you tried to do that at your store?!
When I create my Walgreens shopping scenarios for you every week, my goal is for you to pay the least out of pocket with the largest percentage saved. Like this week your savings is over 100%! To me, that’s impressive. That you can repeat the scenario 100 times to get 200 tubes of Colgate doesn’t make it any more impressive. I hope that the pendulum doesn’t swing too far the other way and we all find ourselves limited to one Nivea Body Wash.
What are your thoughts? Let us know what you think!
(Thanks so much Jennifer for sharing! :-))
