Grateful Giveaways #7: Knork Flatware

by Christie Bisbee on December 1, 2011

I’m excited to bring you 14 amazing giveaways as part of this year’s Grateful Giveaways: Celebrating a Season for Giving event. For all of my holiday gift ideas, be sure to visit the Wild For Wags Holiday Gift Guide!

Next up, an interesting take on classic flatware. We’ve all heard of a spork, but what about a…knork?

Mike Miller first thought of the idea while eating pizza with a group of friends. Trying to eat pizza with a normal fork, he realized what a struggle it was and how uncomfortable it felt. The challenge of neatly slicing pizza in a manner capable of impressing girls was what led Mike to conceptualize the Knork. Once he saw an employee cutting pizzas in the back with a pizza cutter and taking pictures of people of all ages using a regular fork, Mike combined all this into one utensil that was suitable for all ages and right or left handed users. The idea then sat for four years until graduating from high school.

After attending a few years at Kansas State University with a medical degree in mind, the idea for the Knork still remained. Being 20 years old at the time, he decided to return home to Wichita and take business classes at Wichita State University. Mike’s first step was establishing parent company Phantom Enterprises in October 2000. He then pursued a patent by researching and developing a prototype. Using one of his mother’s forks as a base, he used Bondo, a car modeling compound, to create a model. Today, the Knork is properly patented, produced and marketed and is on the ‘cutting edge’!

Knork 20-Piece Flatware Set: Knork Flatware is ergonomically designed to correctly fit the way we naturally eat. Its patented design combines innovation and function to produce a complete line of modern flatware designed with comfort, style and stability in mind. Five-piece place settings include Dinner Knork, Salad Knork, Place Knife, Place Spoon and Teaspoon, all with the Knork’s distinctive styling, 18/0 stainless steel, hand formed from a single solid bar of stainless steel and two-toned Duo Finish with a glossy head and frosted handle.

Knork 5-piece Serving Set: Simple and striking, this satin serving set will complement your Knork dining set. This set includes a Serving Knork, a Serving Spoon, a Slotted Spoon, a Butter Knife, and a Sugar Spoon made from 18/0 stainless steel with a matte brushed finish.

One lucky Wild For Wags reader will win a 20-piece Knork Flatware Set plus a 5-piece Knork Serving Set!
