My husband and I just bought our first home and took the Dave Ramsey class at church that was offered for adults. I was amazed at all I learned and I would love for my kids to start saving now. It would be neat for them to be learn about and start using the same saving techniques that their parents are learning about and using as well

We followed Dave Ramsey’s plan to get out of debt. We are teaching our children the things we learned: “debt is dumb, cash is king.” This would be an awesome tool to help them grasp those concepts.

Brooke January 24, 2012 at 5:51 pm

My kids always say, “you can use my money” when they really want something. Little do they realize, if I used their money every time they said that, they would have no money! I recently ordered the Dave Ramsey set for myself to get better organized financially this year and I would love for them to get of on the right start as well. (I also follow you on Facebook.)

Beth B January 24, 2012 at 5:51 pm

I want to start my daughter on the right track from the start. I shudder to think about how much money I threw away throughout high school, college, and my first few years in the working world and during my first few years of marriage!!! If I only knew then what I know now… :o) Anyways, I want my daughter (and future children) to be aware of how to save, spend, and give RESPONSIBLY!!

Melissa January 24, 2012 at 5:52 pm

I want my children to learn that you don’t spend money unless you have it (no debt), you need to help others with your money (more important than buying something you don’t absolutely need), and you need to save it (to help you in the future if anything happens).

Carrie Diallo January 24, 2012 at 6:04 pm

I would like to teach my children the importance of living within their means, giving back when they can, saving for their future, and most importantly to NEVER get into credit card debt. I lived off credit for many years and it came back to bite me in the rear. I have since learned my lesson and no longer put anything on credit but I do not want my kids to make the same mistakes that I have. I follow you on Facebook but go not have a twitter account.

I want my 4 children to learn that things need to be earned & you need to work hard to get things you desire to have in your life. I also want them to learn how to manage their money, save their money, write a check, balance a checkbook and not get a credit card which will get themselves into debt! I want them to be responsible with any money they make or are given as a gift.

I would love my children to learn to save and give money because they have money saved up. It’s a lesson I never learned as a child. My parents just spent, spent, spent. They borrowed money they didn’t have and went out to dinner all the time. I’m trying to teach my kids to save money in case of emergency and hard times. I’m trying to learn the same lesson. I’d probably benefit from teaching this to my children.

My husband and I have completed Financial Peace University, and through the teachings of Ramsey, my children have already learned so much about saving and spending. What I would love for them to learn in addition to what they already know is how important it is to always give. Even when you think you can’t give there always is a way to help others.

Amanda Palmer January 24, 2012 at 7:22 pm

nola1982 January 24, 2012 at 9:16 pm

I would like to teach my kids that money does not grow on trees. Earning something comes with hard work and perseverance. I teach them on how to set money aside and the rest can go on spending on things that they like. Every Christmas my kids will buy a small present to donate to Toys for Tots. We make care boxes and put things they bought (with coupons!) and send them to an army base and to my local church. Not only do they learn to share their wealth with others, we are spending quality time together.I hope that they will one day pass those traditions and morals to their kids.

Tracey January 24, 2012 at 9:17 pm

I would love for my girls to learn how much to save, give and spend. They are aware of all three as my husband and myself implement the Dave Ramsey method in our lives. Our girls are six and four and when Dad asks what’s this month? They both are quick to answer “save that money”

I would love my son to learn how to save, give and spend wisely. He’s only three months and we’ve already started different piggy banks (and accounts) so he can learn about giving to others, saving for college, spending wisely and tithing. Once he’s old enough to understand, he’ll see that he’s putting 10% into each bank and then the excess can be given to whichever bank he’d like. Love to get the Dave Ramsey tools for kids!!

I want my kids to learn to save, as well as the balance of saving, spending and giving.

Kimberly January 25, 2012 at 11:00 am

My kids need to both learn to understand the value of a dollar and see the benefits of saving. Sometimes they think anytime they want money they can earn it from us. We have explained we can’t afford that plus the needs in our lives.

I find it imperative that they also come to understand that money is a tool. Like anything else we should spend it wisely and sacrifice to help those in need.

I want my children to learn to save early; live within their means; have a charitable heart; and live debt free!

Michelle January 25, 2012 at 5:01 pm

I would like my son to learn that just because something costs under $10 it is not a good price. Also, that it is better to save his allowance for something he really wants, rather than spend it on something that holds his attention for one day (or one hour).

Kim Ragsdale January 25, 2012 at 5:13 pm

I would love for my children to learn to be good stewards of their money. Whether they are well off or living pay check to pay check, we are all charged with living below our means, and giving God what belongs to Him. This would be a great tool to help with that. Thanks!
