Pizza has got to be my husband’s favorite food, so when I saw Walgreen’s was offering 2/$6 Café W Pizza, I knew just who I should ask to review whether it was worth it or not. So without further ado, here’s my husband, Terry…
Hi Wildforwags readers, it’s Christie’s hubby Terry here! When a chain like Walgreen’s (or Target or Publix…) sell food with their own label on it, they usually hire a vendor to make it for them. The result is usually a pretty good product. This is certainly the case with Café W Pizza.
Available in two flavors, either Pepperoni or BBQ Recipe Chicken, each pizza has something different to offer. Café W’s Pepperoni Pizza measures 11” across and has a self-rising crust. At 28.8 oz., it is more than twice as heavy as the BBQ Recipe Chicken Pizza. Although billed as self-rising, I noticed no real change in size of the Pepperoni Pizza after it was cooked.
Everyone has their favorite part of a pizza. Some think cheese is important. Other’s think it’s the crust that counts. For me, it’s the sauce! Having a spicy and sweet flavor, Café W’s sauce doesn’t disappoint. It’s crust is soft and spongy like a hot pretzel that you might get at the mall. If you prefer a toasted, more crunchy feel to your crust, you might be disappointed with their Pepperoni Pizza, but I had no objections whatsoever!
For those of you who prefer lighter, more “California Pizza Kitchen” type fare, Café W’s BBQ Recipe Chicken may be to your liking. Covered in White Meat Chicken, BBQ Sauce, Mozzarella and Smoked Gouda Cheeses with Red Onions, this crispy, thin crust pizza has a more gourmet attitude. At 1/2” smaller than the Pepperoni and only 14.1 oz., don’t be surprised if you end up eating one of these in one sitting. Perfect for the couple who wants a light dinner or late night treat.
All in all, I have to give these pizzas an 8 out of 10 on the frozen pizza scale of awesomeness! To gauge it against other pizza’s Wags sells, I rate it better than DiGiorno’s and perhaps equal (or better!) than Red Baron’s. Our Wags is stocked up on these Café W’s because of the 2/$6 special starting Sunday, so stock up while you can!

OMG, My husband loves the BBQ chicken pizza so so much. I think he might turn into a pizza! I like pizza but not as much as he does. He gets into these fits where all he will eat is PIZZA, totally fine with me because its affordable and he can make it himself without supervision(HAHA) Thanks so much for letting me know my husband isnt the only person who freaks over pizza! I think the W Pepperoni pizza would be my favorite. First because I would rather a bigger size, my husband has a large appetite, and second because I am a fan of the soft-pretzel like crust as opposed to a hard. crunchy crust. So, pepperoni all the way.

I usually like a pizza loaded with just about everything – except anchovies! ICK! I’m not too particular on brand, but I do like Papa Johns for carry out and tend to like Red Barron in the frozen. If you say Wags pizza is about the same, I’m sure I will love it!

As far as frozen pizza goes I like Freshetta Simply Inspired pizzas. They are original and delicious! But the bottom line is I’ll take any frozen pizza and “dress it up” as my grandma would say and put my own toppings and turn it into a great pizza

Hi Terry! My favorite pizza is home-made pepperoni, onions, and jalapenos. It’s a 3 hour production, so when I need instant gratification, Red Baron pepperoni it is!!!!!

My favorite is this great creation we have only found in a local brick over pizza shop (although I am sure others have it elsewhere in the world…) It is a pizza that uses ranch dressing as its sauce and is topped with chicken, bacon and cheese. YUMLICIOUS!

lately my fav pizza is newman’s own thin crust uncured peperoni. yum! thin like a cracker and the peperoni is thick! i couldn’t tell you the difference in cured or uncured peperoni, just know it is gooood! i had a few dollar off coupons last month, which made them taste even better!

I grew up eating DiCarlo’s Pizza, the best ever. You would buy it buy the piece. It use to be two slices for $.25 now it is $.75 each. That tells you how long ago it was. first off, my favorite kind of pizza, (un-frozen) would be a pizza only sold in New Jersey,s Colombus Farmers Market, in the outside food truck. I have been indulging in that pizza for more than 10 years now, and although i now live in New York, i still wake up at 5AM on occasional weekends and take the 2 hour drive out there to get a fix of that wonderfull sicilian slice. (TRY IT, IT’LL CHANGE YOUR TAKE ON PIZZA) now, when it comes to frozen, i trully enjoy “It’s not delivery, It’s DiGiorno”
but it HAS to be the one that ONLY the pizza is included… WHY IS THAT?, you might ask, well, i’ll tell you WHY!!! lol the pizza that usually comes with bread sticks, or cookies, or wings, they tend to not put soo much attention to the quality of the pizza, it comes with less sauce (♥) and cheese. which we all know, without the 2, you dont have a trully good tasting pizza. i have yet to try the walgreens pizza, but after reading your husbands review, i am curious to try it now.
BTW, koodos to your husband for 2 things, for going to scout walgreens for you (mines would never do that!) and for loving pizza so much!!!!
