What to do when you have RR (expiring during this coming week) but am not interested in any of the deals? 🙁 Or don’t have coupons to get in the deals? Any tips? Thanks!

Joy,
There is a couple of things I do when I’m not interested in the weekly deals but have RR’s to use. Most often I will purchase any items that are free after a RR and donate them. (this week it’s the gummy vitamins) I do end up paying tax, but it extends the expiration date for a few more weeks so I can use them on products that I really want. Also, you could use them to puchase items that have rebates. For example, there are several Finesse products that have Try Me Free labels on them. I have not had any issues with receiving the full amount of a product even if I use RR’s to pay for them. Just make sure to only do 1 rebate purchase per transaction because usually you will need to send in the orginal receipt. If you have a lot of RR’s you could try looking at the Blood Glucose Monitors. Many of them have free rebates on the box.
Hope that helps!

I buy milk. 🙂

Heres a better idea Joy just buy normal things, believe it or not there are regulary priced things at Walgreens like tissue, Juice, soda, bread, etc. In fact I used my RR to buy a 12 pack soda.

There are a few things that seem to rarely go on sale or have coupons that we like to use at Wag’s. My hubby is very partial to Doctors dental piks. So, when I have rewards I need to use or need another item for the coupon to item ratio, that’s what I go for.

Joy — I used to always get greeting cards. Unlike almost everything else in the store, greeting cards and books are no more expensive at Walgreens than at Target or a grocery store. Now I have a tone of greeting cards, though, so I don’t know what to do when I’m in your situation. Sometimes I can find grocery items on sale that may not be a great deal, but at least low enough to match normal price at my grocery store. But a lot of times I just don’t know what to do.

Love the milk idea. That is what I am using mine for this week.

This weeks deals are great! I’m going for Vicks, Thermacare and Pampers. I just bought some $3/1 pampers coupons that will work great this week. Here’s my plan.
#1
4 Sinex x $5 = $20
1 Thermacare x 2.50 = 2.50
2 fillers x .25 = .50
Total = 23.00
-16 Sinex
-1 Thermacare
-5RR Wags Diapers
-1RR Clorox

Subtotal = $0 + tax
Earn $10 Sinex + $2.50 Thermacare

#2
2 pampers x $9.00 = 18.00
2 fillers x .25 = .50
total = 18.50
– 6 pampers
-10RR vicks
-2.50RR thermacare
Subtotal = $0 + tax
Earn $3 RR Pampers

#3 (same as #1, pay with $5RR from Vitamins)
#4 (same as #2, pay with RR from #3)
#5 (same as #1 & #3, pay with RR from #2 &#4)

I figure I’ll pay around $15 – $20 in tax alone for these 5 transactions, but for all the Vicks and Pampers, I think that’s a good deal!

Hopefully this will work out…anyone see any flaws? Not sure yet what I’ll use for fillers…would like to find something useful. Any ideas?

I hate to be the negative nellie but I don’t think the Sinex is included in the Vicks deal this week. I’ve seen it excluded on some other sites. It is never a sure thing though, I’m still holding out hope especially since i took a chance and bought a bunch of coupons. I have my fingers crossed!

Maybe I need to see the ad, but how does the reach 2pk deals end up as .99 with the $2/2 coupon? It’s been a long week, maybe its just me! Thanks!

Reply

Christie January 14, 2011 at 7:35 pm

Kara – You’d need the B1G1 to get it at the lowest price. But even a $1/1 is good after the RR. Hope that helps!

Reply

Kara Headrick January 14, 2011 at 9:38 pm

Ah, Thanks for clearing that up. Didn’t think twice about that one since I had already decided it was before my coupon days started! Thanks again!

When I need last minute fillers, I grab a few Laffy Taffy. They are only 12cents and are at the checkout.

Do the instant value coupons in the monthly book count towards your coupon ratio? Or are they like the in-ad coupons and don’t count?

Reply

Jennifer January 15, 2011 at 12:53 am

the monthly oupons are like in ad coupons. you can pair them with a manufacturer Q! 🙂

Reply

mel January 15, 2011 at 12:13 pm

One of the Exclusions on the RR is Dairy, so you shouldn’t be able to use it on milk.

mel January 15, 2011 at 12:16 pm

Oh..I got some $2 off Tom’s of Maine coupons (don’t remember where or when), makes for some overage when I roll RRs this week. So glad the Kids version is included in the RR deal, as thats what I’m planning on using my q’s towards.

Question…are RR deals sometimes regional? Today was my first couponing trip to Wags, and as I was walking down the aisles with a confused look on my face, a super nice manager came over and asked me what I was looking for. I told him I was trying to find the Joint Juice that was a money maker, and after he showed me he said there was another great money maker on L’Oreal Vive products. I bought 4 of them for $3.26 and got a $5 RR back. I didn’t see this deal listed on your site, so is it just a regional deal at my particular store?

Reply

Christie January 16, 2011 at 3:49 pm

Hi Sonia – L’Oreal products are a monthly Register Reward deal you can find those HERE.

Jill January 20, 2011 at 12:36 pm

I may have another regional question for you (I am in Illinois) and I just heard from my friendly Wag’s cashier that she’s seen two of her customers get $7 RR when they purchase Almay cosmetics this week. Do you have any idea what product would generate it? She didn’t know – and I’d sure like to find out because I love Almay.

I was telling my mother about the ThermaCare and encouraging her to try it. I told her how it works, and she made a comment that it would be a good thing to keep in the car in winter as a just-in-case thing. I thought that was a great idea and would never have thought about it that way! lol! Yay mom! 🙂
