Since I live in one of the test markets, I wonder if I could do this same deal? I thought about doing it yesterday while I was there but I figured I probably would have to buy 11 (which would make them .54 per pack)to make it print out the 5 RR. See, we don’t have to use the coupons in the ad anymore and the register automatically rings up the sale price of .99. What do you think, Christie?

Brenda, I’m not in a test market so I’m not sure. Here are my thoughts… If I was out there I’d try this first…I’d have them ring up the items and then give my card at the end of the transaction to see if that would make any difference? If I didn’t get my $5 RR, I’d return them. Then if I wanted 11 pks for $6 I’d buy them again, if I didn’t I’d wouldn’t bother. If you do buy them, let us know how it goes. I really am not a fan of the test market and this is just one reason. GRRRRR….

I want to try this deal, but the in-ad coupon states “limit 3.” Is anyone having a problem with that?

I find that the in-ad coupon often states limits but in the end you can purchase as many as you’d like and the coupon comes off of each item. Did that with the stride gum when I had 20 coupons. Coupon worked for each pack but said limit 3.

My Walgreen’s is a stickler for limits. They usually only let you buy “one offer per family”. They have made it very clear that they do not like couponers. It’s very frustrating!

I don’t think it’s that they “don’t like couponers”, I think they get tired of hearing people complain when the shelves are empty.

It’s hard to keep shelves stocked when you have a stockroom the size of a shoebox.

🙂

Thanks for the head’s up on the chocolate deal – my candy jar is looking sad!

I have 7 Walgreen’s around me and have not had one mention anything about a limit on the Walgreen’s coupons. I normally give it to them at the end and they scan it. It automatically deducts the amount per item x the number of that item you purchased. It is automatically taken off.

Tried it last night with (4) 8-packs of Reese’s cups and (3)8-packs of Kit-Kat and didn’t get an RR. No conflict on RR’s used in transaction. Has anybody actually done this successfully?

Went to my Walgreens in Chattnooga, Tn and could not find RR advertised anywhere for the Hersheys. Is this an unadvertised RR deal? The .99 coupon was in the ad, so I bought 3, but the cashier said there was no RR for Hershey since it was not in the ad. Help?!

Tiffany it’s a Monthly Deal. You can see more about it HERE. You have to spend over $10.

I totally lucked out tonight at my favorite WAGS. As I walked in the door, one of the cashiers was putting away inventory and I was able to work the deal 5 times, alternating with body wash and the $1 box of Act II popcorn as a filler. There was a ton of product. You couldn’t even tell I had touched it.

Tiffany you use the coupon for reeses on the second page. Not the one on the front.

So, I thought I would try and do this deal even though I live in the test area to see if it would work out okay (see 1st comment above). It didn’t. The cashier who is always nice and helpful actually stopped ringing them up after 3 and asked if I really wanted all of them because the register would only lower the price on the first 3 items since there is a limit. Boo! Needless to say, I didn’t get any of them. I wonder how far I would have to drive to get out of this stupid test area, I’m jealous of all of you who don’t have to learn this new system (yet)!

In my area it worked fine but it didn’t come out the RR….

Here they are ringing up at 1.25 so you would need 8 to make it to 10 before coupon and tax. Also there is a coupon in the monthly booklet too for this size candle, it takes 3.50 off when you buy 7 but since they were 1.25 I ended up short of my 10 dollar goal to get my 5 back.

I did this deal successfully last night (twice). Any idea if it would work on the Snickers 8 packs?

Reply

Brenda June 24, 2010 at 4:26 am

Donna,
I don’t think Snickers would because the RR is from Hershey and Snickers is made by Mars.

I just got back from scoring my great candy deal at Walgreens! It worked for me at the Vancouver, WA store. I bought 7 packages (Reese and Kit Kats) and then I used my $5 RR from last week, total came to just under $2 before taxes and it kicked me out a $5 RR! Sweet!

No rhyme or reason to Wags! So I went to two stores, they did not have enough products. Finally the third store had 7 Hershey’s items, but when the cashier scanned the Wags Q it only took of $2.04, I’m thinking, that isnt right. So I said forget it…so I am thinking…I want this candy for our road trip, so I stop at one last Wags…BINGO! They had 4 Reeses and 3 Kit Kat’s. They rang up perfectly at $7.01 and got my $5 RR….sweeeet!

That’s crazy but I’m glad the last store did the trick!

Went to Wags 6-25-10. while the $0.99 coupon worked for all 10 packs. I did have to buy 10 packs…..making it $10.00 AFTER coupon. $5.00 RR didn’t register until $10.00 was spent POST-coupon. So, alas, I had to buy 10…… meaning that I paid $0.50 for each 8 pack (poor-pitiful-me ; )

Amanda,
I’m not trying to pick on you, I just am confused by your comment. Wouldn’t you have had to buy 11 if they all rang up for .99 to get over the $10?

I did some shopping at Walgreens tonight and bought the Kit Kats and Reeses, but didn’t get a RR went back in to ask about it and they said they didn’t think there was a RR for them. When I got home I realized I only spent $9 instead of $10 required for the RR. Can I go back in and return the 6 pks I bought and then rebuy them plus 1 to get the RR? I had a great shopping trip tonight and being able to get this $5 RR would make it even better! Thanks for the help!

Sarah, the Hershey’s deal ended tonight. So that might impact what you decide to do.

Christie- thanks for the help. Realized later that if I would have bought one more pack on this deal I would have gotten $5 and if I would have gotten one more SOBE water at Target I would have gotten a $5 gift card. I was trying to do both of these deals, but I just started couponing a month ago and took my 1yr old with me late at night and that was very hard to do. Don’t think I will do that again for awhile!
