Welcome to Wild for Wags!

by Christie Bisbee on March 18, 2010

Welcome and thanks so much for stopping by!  After working for several months on my other blog www.bigfatpiggybank.com, I realized I was dedicating many of my posts to Walgreens deals.  I was also having a hard time finding everything I needed for my Wags posts in one place.  There are plenty of great of sites that cover Wags but none as fully as I needed to organize my shopping. So, I decided to start another blog dedicated 100% to my personal favorite place to shop, Walgreens!

I want to bring you more than just Register Reward deals.  I want to offer one comprehensive site that you can visit to plan all of your Walgreens shops.  Some of the unique features of my site will include the full weekly ad complete with match ups, match ups for all Walgreens coupon flyers, match ups for the Montly IVC coupon book, match ups for Monthly RR deals, monthly match up updates for the CAB (children’s activity book), a clearance section, a great deal section and a rolling scenario section to help you maximize your Register Reward transactions while spending as little as possible out of pocket! How cool is that?

My other goal is to make this site open and accessible to everyone.  I want readers to feel like they aren’t just coming here for information but that they are part of the site. After all one person can’t find every deal! If you come up with a great rolling scenario, find a great deal or have a great shop, please share! I want everyone to feel like they are a part of Wild for Wags.  I want to create an atmosphere where all Wags shoppers can feel like they are part of the fun!

Thanks again and let the fun begin! 🙂

Hi, On the children’s benadryl deal, what does the CAB WQ mean? Where is that coupon?
Thanks, Cindy

Christie March 24, 2010 at 6:59 pm

Hi Cindy,
The CAB is the Children’s Activity Book. It’s a coloring book that is for sale at Wags for $.99 full of Wags coupons that can be used again and again and matched with Manufacturer Qs. The CAB is normally put out once per year and this years coupons are expiring 3/30. Hopefully we’ll see a new one soon!

Love the site! I have a quick question. Have you heard anything about Walgreens changing their coupon policy? At my visit tonight the cashier said that there were changes being made. It may have been that she wasn’t happy with how my coupons were working and I was arguing that I could stack Walgreens coupons with MQs. Anyway, have you heard anything on your trips or was I just dealing with a cranky cashier? Thanks! Looking forward to what your site brings!

You know, I have been hearing forever that there are “changes” coming. I’ve been hearing that they were getting rid of the Register Rewards program practically since they started it. I just take it all with a grain of salt. I’m sure that eventually they’ll make some changes, (like who would have thought no more Easy Saver). There have been some interviews with their CEO recently where he said they were planning on testing a loyalty card in a few markets this year. We’ll see. So for now, just chalk it up to a cashier having a bad day and enjoy the savings while you can! 🙂

Checked the bigfatpiggybank site often to see your Wags finds! Glad to have a site dedicated just to Wags! Thanks so much!

Thanks for the Walgreens site! I checked your bigfatpiggybank site often and look forward to the great finds here. I just went and stocked up on Huggies, but after asking 3 employees I still couldn’t find the children’s activity book. They had no idea what it was. Question for you: if I find it, can I take the book and my receipt and have them apply the coupons? (I’ve done that at HEB before, but didn’t know if Walgreens did it.) What do you think?

Christie March 27, 2010 at 8:26 am

I think that would depend a lot on how accommodating your manager is. That’s one thing about Wags is that they really leave a lot up to the store manager, so one store might say, yes absolutely and another might say no way. It’s certainly worth a try! Good luck. 🙂

The dove $2/1 coupon says coupons have been depleated, hopefully we will see another restock!

Hey I just wanted to mention that my Walgreens had a few $3.00/1 Dulcolax hangtag and a few hangtags for free water so be on the lookout for that. At my store they had to manually key in the Dulcolax coupon because it would not take it otherwise. They usually don’t do this but today was my lucky day. I had a great and patient cashier over in cosmetics and there was new manager that was so sweet. Also on the Dulcolax hang tags there was a $5 mail in rebate. I have 8 bottles of this now. Anyone have a suggestion on where I could donate it?

Reply

Christie March 28, 2010 at 1:53 pm

I LOVE that you are thinking of donating it! Good for you! I do that with a lot of this stuff because there is no way we could ever use all of it. I donate to a local domestic violence shelter and to a facility that offers long term housing for formerly homeless women & children. If you have a United Way in your area, you could contact them and they may be able to help you find a place to donate it. Great Job!

The rebate I found on the bottle said that it expired on Feb 28, 2010. Do you think it still works?

Reply

Christie March 28, 2010 at 8:38 pm

I didn’t realize that the MIR on the hangtags expired before the coupon. They probably have stopped accepting the rebate but maybe try calling the company and asking. How frustrating to find this hangtag with a coupon and the MIR expiring way before the coupon. Who knows, the company may send you a nice coupon for your trouble!

Just a heads up, in a St. Louis Wags I found Pilot Gel Pens and Highlighters on clearance. April coupon book has $1/1. The packages also had up to $4.50 rebate when you buy 3. Pens clearance price $1.10 (2 pack) and highlighters $2.00 (3 pack).

Christie March 28, 2010 at 10:36 pm

GREAT deal, thanks for the heads up! There’s a good pen deal coming up next week with the $1/1 Pilot coupon but the one you found is even better!

Hello! I am enjoying your blog! I found you through MomsbyHeart. Thanks! I wanted to say that my Walgreens in NW IN is suggesting not combining manufacture coupons with items that will give Register Rewards. I used a Q on tampons today and should have gotten $1 RR but didn’t. When I asked about it they said that more and more of the manufacturers are not allowing the RR when Qs are used. I did get my RR with the Dove shampoo and I used a Q with it. And that was a money maker while the tampons would not have been. Sadly, she wouldn’t give me the $1 RR. I used to have this problem all the time but not lately, so I am disappointed to have her say it is going to happen more often now. Laura

Christie March 29, 2010 at 10:57 pm

Laura, what tampons did you buy that had a RR? The Playtex have a $1 off Wags Q but not a RR so I’m not sure what you bought. If they give you a hard time with using coupons with RR you can show her a copy of the Wags ad. The Dove Hair Products have a big “Coupons in Most Sunday Papers” right next to it. Sorry that happened to you!

Hey girl! I tried the Biore and with the coupos and tey didn’t gave me the RR. The cashier couldn’t figure out why the machine would not give it to me. She voided the transaction twice and nothing…any thoughts?

Reply

Christie March 31, 2010 at 11:03 am

Hi there! I would say first confirm that they were the right products. Then I’d ask them to confirm the machine is working. I had a huge order once where after I was all rung up the cashier let me know the Catalina machine had been broken for a year. Nice right? If it still doesn’t work I’ve had some stores issue a gift card and other stores go in the back and pull out a RR for the same amount I was supposed to get. (I’m guessing these are RR that customers didn’t want, threw away, etc.).

Hi Christie!
I LOVE your site! It is absolutely the best one I’ve found. It is so user friendly, well written, easy to understand, attractive, organized, and most of all so HELPFUL. You do a great job! My favorite part is the clearance finds! Thanks so much for your hard work.

I do have a question. Why do we need to make sure to hand our Wags Qs in last? Thanks in advance for taking time to answer!

Reply

Christie July 1, 2010 at 10:39 am

There are a few reasons, one is if you hand in the Wags Q first the register often won’t let you stack a MQ with that Wags Q. It doesn’t happen every time but 8 times out of 10. Also if you buying something that is $.99 after the wags Q and you have a $1 coupon, if you hand in the wags Q first the item becomes $.99 and it will no longer allow your $1 Q. If you give them the $1 Q first and then the wags Q, you’ll be fine!
