Walgreens Shopping Scenarios 12/4

by Christie Bisbee on December 3, 2011

Here are my Walgreens Shopping Scenarios for 12/4. I have one scenario for those of you who want to do small transactions and another where you do just one transaction and get $5 in Jingle Cash.

SCENARIO #1:  Get $19.56 in merchandise, spend $5.09 out of pocket and end up with $3 in Register Rewards. So, it’s like you are paying $2.09 for everything!

SCENARIO #2: Get $34.96 in merchandise, pay $21.74 out of pocket and end up with $13 in Register Rewards and $5 in Jingle cash. So, it’s like you are paying $3.74 for everything! Marie December 3, 2011 at 9:53 pm

So on scenario 2 can I use register rewards to bring the cost down or I have to do it that way to get the jingle cash?

tburton December 3, 2011 at 11:01 pm

On transaction #3, I think you meant for us to use the $3 RR from Triaminic. 🙂

Ella December 3, 2011 at 11:19 pm

can u use RR to pay for the jingle cash deal?

Reply

Brenda December 4, 2011 at 1:45 am

Yes, RR are counted as MQ so they do not take away from the total for jingle cash. Just remember you cannot have more mq than items.

Ella December 4, 2011 at 9:27 am

Thanks so much Brenda!

I always forget, what order are you supposed to give the coupons in when you are using a Manufacturer Coupon, Walgreens Book Coupon, Walgreens IN STORE/AD coupon and Register Rewards? Thanks!

Reply

Crystal December 4, 2011 at 1:41 am

RR first, then manufacturer, then Walgreens coupons

Dealwagger December 4, 2011 at 12:25 pm

I am kind of fuzzy on the specifics but for sure MQ’s first, then wags coupons. I have read you should do MQ’s, then Wags MQ’s (like the monthly coupon booklet), and last the in-ad wags Q’s. Not sure about RR, I always do those in with my MQ’s or before my MQ’s.

“Jingle Cash”? LMAO, why not just call them rr’s? the phrase makes me think of a stripper “jingling” her goodies for cash. lolol

Where do I find the “Make This Season Stunning Booklet”

Reply

Kathy December 4, 2011 at 8:31 am

At my WAGS, it was sitting on the cosmetics counter.

Andrea Jones December 4, 2011 at 4:17 pm

I have a small Walgreens and we do not have a coswmetics counter but, they had a little display in the make up area

If I understand this correctly, you only earn Jingle Cash if you purchase $30 or more at ONE TIME. Is that correct?

I don’t know if I have time to get all of my coupons together so that I can make one shopping trip this week, since I work all day Sunday. 🙁 If I wait too long I may miss the freebies.

I ended up checking out at the Beauty Counter today which is unusual. I always offer to go to the beauty counter or step aside so others who come up behind me can pay, but they always tell me no and call for backup instead. Anyway, as I was paying I glanced over and saw $10 Jingle Cash sitting on a counter display. I asked the cashier if someone left it behind and she told me the woman who got it was going back to Canada and couldn’t use it so she left it for someone else, she said I could have it. So exciting! I’m pumped lol. I think I’m going to use it to get some formula for my daughter! Just wanted to share my awesome find and to tell people to remember to keep an eye out for Jingle Cash and RR people leave behind!

Mary December 4, 2011 at 2:05 pm

Its very rare that people leave behind their jingle cash or register rewards, technically the jingle cash should have been disposed of if the other customer couldn’t use it, coupons in general shouldn’t be allowed to be given to someone else. Good thing the jingle cash isn’t the same as register rewards and can only be used for certain weeks and with a $30.00 transaction otherwise there would be alot of people abusing this.

Well Mary – I’ve pulled Register Rewards out of the trash, off the ground in the parking lot, out of empty shopping carts, on the floor of the store and I am NOT ashamed.

Just like if I found a $20 bill laying on the ground in a parking lot, I’m gonna pick that sucker up. To borrow a term from CVS, I am not a money trasher.

Mary, I couldn’t disagree with you more. Why shouldn’t someone else benefit if the recipient couldn’t use it? If you went to the grocery store and someone had left behind coupons for items they weren’t buying, you would refuse them? That is sad to me because I love to share them for items I know I won’t be buying.

Just wanted to say, the walmart insert coupons for Revlon and Almay both beeped but, my cashier put them in manually. Not a great week at Wags but I bought the nail polish and used the RR from it to buy the Almay. I used the .29 sharpies for fillers.

Reply

Candice December 4, 2011 at 11:43 am

The $3.00 Triaminic coupon beeped and wouldn’t work but the manager pushed it through.

Just thought I would let everyone in on a kind of good deal, the Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold is on sale B1G1 50% off you can use the $1 off walgreens coupon and $2 off from this weeks inserts or a few weeks ago to get two boxes for $1.11 a box, but unforunately mine rung up wrong and had to pay $1 more a box still a good deal but could have saved $2 if I would have been paying attention, it is also on sale at Rite Aid for $.99 a box but my ups always expire so I just stick with Walgreens and CVS

My Wags had the dove men’s deodorant in a bonus 2 pack (B1G1). Had 2 printables for $1 off and 1 $2 off that came in the sample this weekend. Ended up getting 6 things of deodorant for a $1 MM after RR. Score!

Natalie December 4, 2011 at 1:38 pm

I noticed that there is a triaminic Walgreen coupon in the booklet. Is there a reason it wasn’t included in the scenario?

Reply

Shannon G December 5, 2011 at 6:27 pm

It is for the 2 pack of 4 oz

Reply

chris December 4, 2011 at 1:55 pm

So you CAN use the Wags booklet coupons w/a MQ? The ‘make the season stunning’ booklet has coupons in it that say they are MQs redeemable only at Walgreens, so I’m confused!
THANKS

Reply

Heidi December 4, 2011 at 2:07 pm

The “Make the Season Stunning” book is a Wags’ coupon book. Manufacturer coupons CAN be used with those in the book.

I wanted clearification for a long time. I have been told by several walgreens in Florida that u can’t use a RR to get another RR. In other words, in this example, if u use the RR from the first transaction as payment in the second transaction then the RR for the Triaminic (in transaction #2) will NOT print. Can someone PLEASE clear this up

Reply

Sarah December 4, 2011 at 4:20 pm

Yes, you can get a RR when you pay with a RR, as long as it is not for the same item or issued by the same company. For example, if you have a register reward from P&G and use it when you are paying for a P&G item that is supposed to give you a RR, you will not receive the RR (the computer thinks you are trying to do the deal again, and it will deny it). However, if you use a RR from Dove to pay for the Revlon nail polish this week, you will receive the RR.

Keep in mind the rule about not having more coupons than items – RRs used in payment are counted as coupons. So in this scenario, if you were using a $1 Revlon Walmart coupon and a RR, you would need to buy a filler (1 item, 2 coupons doesn’t work).

I know it sounds complicated, but it’s easy once you get the hang of it!

Kareen December 5, 2011 at 7:28 pm

OK, thanks Sarah i understand it now, thx for clearing this up.

I have a coupon that I found at Walgreens and it is a manufacturer coupon from Revlon hope it doesn’t beep. I can have a $2.00 money maker. A cashier once told me that mostly all Revlon MQ coupons beep.

Just dropping by to re-read what you wrote about Jingle Cash. I was almost positive I was correct that you have to spend $30 BEFORE MQ, but after Wags discounts. I didn’t get my Jingle Cash today and the store manager told me that it has to be $30 after MQs. Additionally, someone who was in line near me, who said she was a devotee of your site, concurred with the manager and said it was posted on your site. How frustrating! I didn’t want to be mean about it, but I hate it when people talk without knowing what they are talking about. I left rather than arguing, but now I wish I had stood my ground. Just to add something positive, I would like to point out that the Make Your Season Stunning book has a Schick coupon, BUT, it is only for Quattro. You indicated this in your scenarios, but I spaced and got the Hydro refills. HTHs someone avoid making the same mistake I did.

Here is my experience with the Jingle Cash. My total after coupons was 24.55, however, it showed up as 30.55, the cashier said that it showed up that way so that I could get the Jingle Cash. I ended up paying $24.55 and got the $5 Jingle cash like she said. Don’t know how the Jingle Cash thing work and didn’t really expect to get any, but I really needed the stuff they had on sales this week so definitely an added bonus!

Just another FYI…it’s a good idea to look on the cosmetic counter for coupons as well. I have one Walgreens here where I live that is really good about putting manufactures coupons (tearpads) on the counter for the taking as long as you are courteous to others that may want them as well. I usually find them on the cosmetics counter in a small box or just layed out. You may even ask if they have any manufactures coupons. During Thanksgiving shopping I was able to find these coupons…

ALMAY- Save $1 on any Almay exp. 04/30/12
(Great for the 40% Almay sale this week or save it)

REVLON- Save $1 on any Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel or
Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss exp. 01/31/12
(This coupon would mean a mm for the nail polish
this week..yay!!)

NEUTROGENA- Save $2 on any full-size Neutrogena Cosmetic
item exp. 12-31-11

KISS NAIL DRESS- Save $1 on Kiss Nail Dress exp. 6/30/12

SALLY HANSEN- Save $1 on ANY Salon Effects or Crackle
Overcoat exp. 4/30/12
(This has only valid at Walgreens but is a MQ)

DEGREE- Save $1 WYB any one Degree Body Mist exp. 1/31/12

EUCERIN- Save $1 on any Eucerin Product (2oz.-16.9 oz.)
exp. 3/31/12

CUREL- Save $2 on Any Curel Moisturizer (3.5 oz. larger)
exp.1/31/12

Happy Shopping!!
