Walgreens Shopping Scenarios 8/24

by Christie- on August 23, 2014

Walgreens Shopping ScenariosHere’s my shopping scenario for 8/24. In this scenario you’ll get $20.10 in merchandise, after sales and coupons you’ll pay $8.84 out of pocket and end up with $4.80 (4,800 Balance Reward Points). So it’s like you’re getting all of these items for $4.04 or 45¢ per item (not including the rulers)!

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THESE TRANSACTIONS

-) You can’t have more MQ than items! Blue = MQ
-) You don’t have to do these in one day, just pick up where you left off.
-) I always bring some extra fillers with me to the register, in case of an emergency!

Transaction #1
(1) $0.75/1 Oral-B Complete et al or 2 Indicator or Cavity Defense Toothbrushes, exp. 8/31/14 (RP 07/13/14)
Total = as low as $6.75, Get Back $5 RR + 45¢ (450 Balance Reward Points)

Transaction #2
Buy (4) $5 RR from Transaction #2
Total = $1.11, Get Back $5.35 (5,350 Balance Reward Points)

Transaction #3

Transaction #4

You end up with $4.80 (4,800 Balance Reward Points) so it’s like getting everything for $4.04!

Would you have to do these in separate trans or are there any that could be done in one? Sorry, new to this. 🙂

I just reread your scenario and saw that you spelled it all out. Thank you.

Did you hear about the new policy/updates to their registers. When redeeming a RR, your filler item must meed or exceed the price of the RR. No more finding 10 cent filler items anymore. 🙁

I’ve been told it was a developer error – something they did so coupons that were over the price of the item would not scan. The RR just got lumped into it. So, it is my understanding that there’s a software fix but not all stores have it yet.

So, there are actually quite a few stores where this WAS happening and NOW it’s been fixed. So if you are dealing with this at your store, hopefully you won’t be for long.

Unless Walgreens changes their system back, these scenarios will no longer work. Filler items can no longer be used if the RR exceeds the price of the filler item purchased. 🙁

Hopefully you won’t have to deal with this much longer. Thank goodness my favorite store has fixed this.

Where did y’all find this change? I looked at their coupon policy and did not see it.

The coupon policy says that they don’t take coupons that exceed the value of the product since a register reward counts as a manufacturer coupon they no longer let you use a register reward on an item that is less than the value of the register reward it happened to me on friday for the first time.

I’m in Missouri in the greater STL region. That is applying here as well. No more fillers with high RR. The RR has to be “attached” to something that is that price or greater or won’t be accepted. It stinks! Yareli is right. I read it in their policy, too. the manger gave it to me.

Anyone else notice that the Vitamin water only gave out at 1.49 RR? Not that a penny matters much, but false advertising since the ad says 1.50!

The RR problem is a software issue alright. I was able to use a $5RR from two weeks ago today with the Nexxus deal with no problem at all. I suggest you calling corporate and asking about the status of your store’s system and request for an update due to the issue. I’ve noticed th new update also allows you to use the RR first before MCs without causing any errors or having the cashier manually pushing it through.

Was able to use the $1 RR from Pure Leaf Tea (Pepsi product) from previous week on the Vitamin Water Energy (Coco-cola product) and still get the $1.49 RR. Listed above in transaction #3.

If this is a computer programming error, then why are the stores denying the use of the RR, since it’s an “off your total purchase” coupon? I get that they don’t want coupons over the value of the item. But they shouldn’t treat customers so rudely, that I no longer want to step foot in their business.

So.. is this fixed or are you not allowed to use fillers now? Walgreens making it difficult to shop there now… I didn’t need to buy stuff this week so I couldn’t test the filler situation, but hopefully your scenarios for next week will work.
