Walgreens Coupons: 18,000 Extra Credit Points!

by Christie Bisbee on July 25, 2013

Walgreens Coupon Booklet Extra CreditSome of you may have received this 18,000 Extra Credit Points Mailer where Walgreens is offering you the opportunity to Earn Extra Points with Featured back-to-School Items.

These expire on 9/16/13 and read one coupon per customer.  The last mailer I received with offers like these were only for one time use.  Once the coupon was scanned, even if I was not forced to surrender it, the coupon could not be used again in a separate transaction.  Also, if the coupon read 1,000 points when you buy 2 Lysols, I only received 1,000 points even if I bought 4 Lysols in the same transaction.  However, I don’t know if the coupons in this mailer were programmed differently.

Last time, I was able to take advantage of a current promotion and the mailer promotion in the same transaction.  If, for instance, the ongoing sale offered 1,000 points for buying 2 ABC shampoos, and the coupon from the mailer offered 2,000 points for buying 2 ABC shampoos, I received 3,000 points when I bought just 2 shampoos.

An offer similar to the first one listed below worked for me last time so long as I hit the requisite threshold after any store coupons (i.e. stock up coupons, IVC coupons, or in-ad coupons) were scanned and before any manufacturer coupons (including Register Rewards) were scanned.

Here are the offers in this mailer:

  • $3 (3,000 points) when you spend $30 in store
  • 50¢ (500 points) on any 2 select Puffs 96 sheet or 68 sheet items
  • $1 (1,000 points) on any (4) Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer 2oz or Jelly wrap 1oz
  • $5 (5,000 points) on any 2 Mucinex Children’s 4 oz or Delsym Children’s 3 oz
  • $1.50 (1,500 points) on any 2 Lysol Disinfectant Sprays, Wipes or Foaming Hand Soap
  • $1.50 (1,500 points) (1) Hyland’s 4 Kids Cold ’n Cough, Nighttime or Cold ’n Cough Syrup
  • $2 (2,000 points) when you purchase any (1) Original HP Ink Cartridge
  • $2 (2,000 points) wyb (1) Energizer Max AA/AAA-8 or Advanced Lithium AA/AAA-4
  • $1 (1,000 points) on any two (2) Ziploc Brand products
  • 50¢ (500 points) when you buy any two (2) DOVE Bars
  • $1 (1,000 points) on any (1) Bottle 2 Pen (B2P) retractable gel ink pen fine, black or blue 2 pk or ballpoint medium black 4 pk

Hi Christie, Do these milers come in your regular snail mail? How do you get signed up to get them? I have been a BR member since the beginning of the program and I shop at Walgreens at least once per week and usually a lot more than once per week. Thanks in advance and I love your site/page! I visit it at least once per day for all the great tips you give! Suze

Hi Suzi – I honestly don’t know what they use to decide who is getting them. I didn’t get one but my friend in Tampa did. They were sent via Snail Mail.

I’m an employee and I received one. Most of my coworkers did not, however. No idea how this is decided. I know I do 2-3 transactions every time I work, so maybe you have to be a REALLY frequent shopper 😉

Already ladies, if anyone is still around this post I think I might have it. My guess is it’s either completely random, or they base it off prescriptions. I got one, and my husband has some health issues, so we get several prescriptions filled their regularly. So sound off, if you got a mailer, do you get there prescriptions filled at Walgreens and how often?
