Walgreens: Updates From the Field!

by Christie Bisbee on April 21, 2013

Planter's Peanut Butter couponHere are some updates to hopefully make your Walgreens shopping trip a bit easier.

PLANTER’S PEANUT BUTTER: There are  issues with the Planter’s Nut-rition peanut butter deal. Not only does it appear there isn’t much stock, but the Register Reward does not seem to be printing.

According to the sign spotted in the store, they have extended the Register Reward thru 5/4. This should give us more time to pick up this deal, since it appears many stores won’t get their shipments in until next week 4/28. So, adjust your scenarios accordingly!

NEOSPORIN DEAL: The Neosporin on the Go did not ring up for $3.99 this week, so I would stick to the other Neosporin products this time around.

Finesse CouponsFINESSE DEAL: If you do the Finesse deal this week be sure to check for bottles with peelies for a free bar of Yardley soap! These are on some of the bottles with Yardley. That’s a nice little bonus, especially since these Finesse bottles are only 99¢ after coupons this week. If you find them you can do this deal…

Walgreens Deals
Buy (1) Finesse with yardley $1.99
(1) Yardley Bar Soap 79¢
Total = $2.78
$1/1 Finesse Shampoo, Conditioner or Styler (SS 04/21/13)
Peelie for FREE Bar of Yardley
= 99¢ OR JUST 49¢ EACH!

How did your shop go? Find any great deals or surprises? Let us know! 🙂

The peanut butter RR printed for me this morning in Sioux Falls, SD. I did notice there was very little stock with the only available flavor being the Cinnamon one. There was no advertisement near the peanut butter like one would normally find near RR products either. The deal did work for me though. I was at Walgreens at approx 10:30 a.m. CT.

For the planters deal. My store had 2 one of each flavor. The RR printed for the Cherry flavor but not the Rasin flavor.

I’m glad I’m not the only one frustrated by the Planters deal. I rushed to blow dry my hair this morning and interrupted my prep for church to run over there when they opened. I shouldn’t be so greedy, I guess, but I know I was the first one in the store except for staff and the Planters was all gone 🙁 Thankfully it’s only a few block drive for me, or I would have been really mad!

Since there are no RR’s with the Crest/Oral B items this week, can I buy 6 (mix-n-match) of those and get 12,000 points (4,000 per deal) in one transaction? I want to use my $5 off of a $20 purchase coupons and that would get it pretty high ($18) so I could just throw on one more $2 item. Would that work?

Two stores here had the sign. (Mid Missouri ). Also no mouthwash. But other than that everything went great. I had a handful of the five dollars off of twenty – made for a lot of fun and store personnel were great.

For the peanut butter, the RR printed for me on the Raisin flavor but not the Cherry. Also found John Frieda Precision Hair Foam on clearance for $2 each – I didn’t have any coupons on me but bought two and got 3,000 points so $.50 each – not bad.

Glad they are extending the peanut butter. My store didn’t have any.

I chickened out on the planters pb, because the flavors were weird to me! But it was in stock here in Indiana.

Oscar Meyer lunchmeat is on sale this week 2 for $5. I purchased the smoked ham and they range up for only .99 cents each. Boy was I excited! It might be worth looking into at other Walgreens. Happy shopping.

if you look at the fine print in the ad you would see there is a limit of 1 coupon per customer per printed offer so I am guessing the rewards card is tracking with limits

Reply

melissa April 21, 2013 at 8:15 pm

Only limit on card is 21 trans a day

Reply

Heidi April 21, 2013 at 9:48 pm

Last week I bought 2 of an item – in separate transactions – and did not get a rr for the second transaction – didn’t use rr or anything to pay either so I figured it was limit of one rr per item per card

Reply

melissa April 21, 2013 at 11:20 pm

Did 10 separate trans last wk got rr for each one

jamie April 21, 2013 at 9:20 pm

first store-cherry pb did not print. The manager brought over the cinnamon raisin one to try, thankfully it worked.
second store-empty shelf
third- only the cinnamon raisin.
I was planning on donating them, but my daughter grabbed them when I walked in the door. she loves them both…?
I the manager who helped me at the first store said “here’s your vomit in a jar” as she handed them to the cashier. guess she’s not a fan either.

Today I did these deals: probiotic, Kotex U, Band-Aids, and Oral B tbrush/floss. I had (2) $2 off $10 catalinas that both went through with no problems. My college-aged daughter is nicely stocked up on the “U”products from the last 2 weeks, and I used several of those RRs to get cheap Tostitos, salsa, and Club crackers so my son’s kids will have snacks when they come to Grandma’s house! I did 3 transactions and I had a very pleasant and knowledgeable cashier. Oh happy day!

No PB here either. Normally I go to Walgreens on Sunday afternoon. Today I went at 9AM. The manager acknowledged the PB shortage and offered a raincheck and she was also super helpful in finding the last probiotic for the RR -our store stocks them in two places. I’m used to not finding things because I normally go Sunday afternoon – but we were out of olives and I told the kids I’d go earlier.

So will the PB still be priced at 2.99 and print a $3 RR next week or will it go back to regular price? None of my 3 local stores had any on the shelves when they opened nor any signage about them at all. There was plenty of ProBiotic so I’ve got a couple of those now. My stores did not even have a shelf space for the sleep/snore aid that’s 9.99 with a $10 RR…the brand had an allergy breathing aid but not sleep. Did ANYONE find this thing?

Reply

Erwina April 21, 2013 at 11:09 pm

Try at the sleeping/cough isle at the bottom self. I couldn’t find them either then I asked the staff and they found the sleep/snore aid near by cough/sleeping isle right at bottom self (not in the nasal/breathing self)

Apparently for PB, the RR ring for the cinamon flavour only (according the manager at the store) I had problem too with my PB cerry flavour.

I had great deal today, spent $9.39 plus tax, left with $10RR Ultimate and 24500 points!! (I use $2/10 and $5/$20)

Thank you so much Christie for the your hadwork doing this!

Okay, I can’t seem to get a straight answer from any of the employees at my store so HELP! Do the $2/$10 or $5/$20 coupons mess up the deals that require you to purchase $xxx of a certain product to receive points? For example the current baby deal that requires you to purchase $30 to receive 5000 points. Do I have to make sure my total is still $30 AFTER applying my $5/$20 coupon. I used to be a pro at the Walgreens game but I feel like so much has changed. I don’t know what to expect anymore with this points system. Thank!

kelsie April 21, 2013 at 11:27 pm

I’m afraid I can’t answer all of it but I can answer an important part – YES, it messes you up when it’s a buy $xx and get xx points. If it’s a buy 2, get 3k or something, you’re fine but it will totally mess up a dollar amount :\ I’m not sure how it calculates off everything since it doesn’t show on the computer or the receipt!

Reply

s.taylor5 April 22, 2013 at 10:47 am

Yes, it does mess up your total and pts. I used the 2/10 coupon on the lysol wipes along with a few other items i purchase, and didn’t get the 1000 pts. I called and the rep said with me using that coupon it takes a certain percentage off each item and with the percentage off it no longer qualified me for the full $10. So add a extra item or 2 on your purchase that earn pts. to try and get your full amount needed. Thats what I’m gone start to do. Hope this helps

Thanks kelsie and s.taylor5. That really helps! Now I know what to expect when working out my deals 🙂

A manager gave me a difficult time yesterday. I took my husband with me so that I could purchase two of the 7-up10 sodas that were giving the $1RR. She refused to let us purchase two, saying it’s one RR per household. I told her that I thought it was one per customer, but she wouldn’t budge. Can anyone tell me what the correct info is?

Reply

Kamaya April 22, 2013 at 2:05 am

You were totally correct. I don’t understand why some managers make up different rules. They can however limit how many you can get that day if supply is low. I have 4 Walgreens within 5 minutes of my home and when I did the deal each store had no problem with me purchasing 10 in different transactions.

Reply

Annora April 22, 2013 at 11:53 am

It completely depends on your Walgreens. Mine doesn’t put limits on anything, even when says so in the ad. My old Walgreens (we moved over the summer) had tons of limits and strictly enforced them.

Reply

chris April 22, 2013 at 3:52 pm

Managers seem to be making up their own rules for their own stores. My closest store just instilled a “one only” policy on the RR deals, but with the soda last week, they brought me extras off the shelf to go with each transaction saying “we have a ton of these, please buy more.”
When the PB was on sale earlier this month and they didn’t have any on the first day, I specifically asked if they ever do rainchecks. The cashier called over the manager who grumbled but then took out a pad and wrote me a raincheck for one jar only. I said that I wanted to buy 3 jars (this was before the RR on it) and he told me “no, there is a limit of 1 sale item period.” I had the ad in front of me and asked where that was written and he literally just threw the raincheck at me and walked away. I adore a couple of the cashiers at this store so I keep going back…but this manager guy is something else!

It’s days on the back of every ad managers have the right to set their own policies (not exact lingo but sums up to that) however that dies not give them the right to be rude nothing gives them the right to be rude to anyone even if the customer was a pain themselves

J.r April 22, 2013 at 4:23 pm

Sorry meant “it says….” and “….it does….” Responding on my phone lol. I’d call corporate if they were obnoxiously rude

I went to two different Walgreens on Sunday. The first store I went to had a couple of the PBs in cherry. I picked one up and the RR did not print. I checked out in Pharmacy because I had a prescription to pick up and only the PB (they were out of everything else 🙁 ). I asked about the RR and the manager came right over, didnt even ask what the item was and said, “it’s for 2.99, right” so clearly, they’d been having issues all day. She issued me a gift card for 2.99 immediately, no questions, no problem. I went to another Walgreens about a mile away, bought the raisen PB and RR printed just fine.
