I am confuse with the Wags scenarios and policy. So does this mean that I need to get 1 filler since I am using 3 Q’s?

Reply

Christie March 6, 2013 at 1:44 pm

No, the Walgreens coupons don’t count in your coupon total. ๐Ÿ™‚

Could I buy 4 items at a time and get $18 off? Or does the walgreens coupon limit the # of items per transaction?

Reply

Kristy March 6, 2013 at 2:31 pm

I bought 8 in 1 transaction w/out any problems:)

Ali March 6, 2013 at 2:18 pm

Has anyone done this on just the wipes? The wags q says limit 1 per customer/ purchase. I’m just curious if it does i fact automatically deduct the full $4 ($2 twice)?

Kristy March 6, 2013 at 2:36 pm

I bought 2 towelettes, 3 remover pads in the white canister and 3 liquid removers in 1 transaction and it took off $16.

I did 3 bottles of the 80-count wipes and 1 24-pack make-up touch-up sticks. All were priced at $5.99. I was able to use both $5/2 MFQ and the $2/1 WAGS q took off a total of $8. I bought Magnum bars as my filler!

Shelly March 6, 2013 at 3:23 pm

I bought 8 in one transaction, it was an assortment of Almay items, but two packs of wipes. All the coupons worked just as expected, the wags coupon took $16 off!

I just bought 2 makeup removers since the cashier up front would not do both the $5/2 and the $2 wags coupon. I’ll go back on Saturday when the helpful cashier is working the cosmetics counter.

Jodi March 6, 2013 at 6:26 pm

Good luck with any of them being left on Saturday at this price. If they are all gone, ask for a raincheck!

Not sure where to post this, and if Christie reads all the posts, but I did the Almay deal today and combined it with the senior day discount and got a catalina for $10 off a $35 purchase starting Sunday March 10th.

Christie March 6, 2013 at 6:33 pm

Hi Tammy, yes I sure do read them all! Unless I miss one by accident. ๐Ÿ™‚ Woo Hoo on the Catalina!

Tammy March 6, 2013 at 7:01 pm

Thanks for the quick reply, I wasn’t sure how people who found great deals or special catalinas let you know about them. Now I know. I check your site several times a day and have gotten some of the best deals. Thanks for all your hard work.

I bought 8 make-up removers and a jar of miracle whip. The $1 off MW was fine, the $2 Wags coupon worked fine, but only 2 of my $5/2 coupons would scan. They manually entered $5 and then adjusted the last coupon to $4.25. I paid $2.36 (which was all tax).

mary March 6, 2013 at 8:32 pm

Christie – Can you add it into your post to make sure that you have Some filler items so all the coupons ring up. I didn’t realize i needed a little less than a dollar to use my last coupon. I ended up paying $5.00 more than I wanted to.

Shauna March 6, 2013 at 9:37 pm

My walgreens in washington mo would not take the $5/2 because it would not scan and cashier said makeup remover is not a cosmetic item.

Same here and I’m in WA also. So I asked nicely if we could ask the manager, the manager said go ahead and push them through since they did say “any”. I was purchasing 4 and when I handed the cashier the March booklet after all that, she manually gave me $2 off ONCE instead of 4x. I’m seriously bummed. It kind of feels like she did this intentionally. I didn’t notice until I already got outside to my car and didn’t feel like going back in. I should also add that I see this cashier at Wags often and I’ve never really had any issues with her before. So maybe it was just a fluke.. Hmphhhhh!

I went to the one in washington today and got 4 jars of the wipes, they scanned the wal Q first it automatically took off all of them then they took both of my manufacture coupons and the second one would scan because it would have been and overage so she had to manually put it in for 4.96 instead of 5

Ok so i dont know if anyone had any issues but it didnt want to accept all my coupons. I dont know if he has to so with the new computers it has but i ended up paying $5.12 for 14 items… which is not bad, but i dont know how to do the transactions… should i give the mfq first the the wags coupon or the other way around???

Sandy March 7, 2013 at 9:31 am

You should give the MFQ q’s first, always, then the WAGS q. If you purchased the make-up remover pads and your store had them priced at $5.99, buying two would be $8.98 – $5/2 MFQ brings your cost down to $3.98. The WAGS q will want to take off $4 and you only need $3.98 so, in order for the WAGS q to take off the $$ without any problems you need a filler item. Something small to absorbed the .02. I usually check the ad for items that are on sale 8 for $1, like holiday pencils or a soft caramel for .39 (usually found at the checkouts) or check out clearance items. I bought 3 containers of the make-up remover pads and 1 make-up remover sticks and a 3-pack of Magnum ice cream bars. The .04 overage from my MFQ and WAGS q on the Almay was deducted from the cost of my ice cream. I usually look for something smaller but, I wanted the ice cream.

Sandy March 7, 2013 at 9:33 am

By the way, you can give the WAGS q first and ask the cashier to bring down the coupon from $5 to $4.98, which they are supposed to do, but a lot of people have problems with the cashiers understanding so, they just tend to buy the filler item.

I gave the walgreen’s coupon 1st and didn’t have any problems yesterday. I bought 8 in 1 transaction, so I used 4 Manf. coupons. I did but a can of tuna though to avoid any beeps.

The cosmetics cashier refused to take my coupon today on the makeup removers. I have been shopping at this Walgreen’s for years and checking out at the cosmetics counter. I have gotten these so many times before but she said the coupon brought up a “no match found” and said it had to be “cosmetics”. Any idea why that would have come up? Did anybody else have that happen or anything funny. My firend went to the other Walgreen’s in town and had no problems doing the same thing I wanted to do, go figure. Maybe she was just having a bad day.

Sandy March 7, 2013 at 9:34 am

It worked fine for me. I’d try it again, either at another WAGS or a different cashier.

My Walgreens does not consider that make-up remover as a cosmetic even though it is located in the cosmetic dept. There for they would not accept my coupon either for Almay. Walgreens is located in Bay CIty, MI.

Same thing happened to me, she said it had to be cosmetics ๐Ÿ™

My wife and I went to 3 Wags and had problems at all of them (STL). The first one was all makeup cleaners with some fillers, but it wouldn’t beep on any of the coupons (mgr actually accused us of fraud!) Then we did half cosmetics and half cleaners, and it accepted 2 of the 3 coupons, but beeped on the third and said it was incorrect product. So I don’t think the coupon applies to makeup cleaners. Still a great deal for makeup though.

Sandy March 7, 2013 at 9:35 am

My coupons didn’t beep at all. They scanned just fine. No need for the cashier to override for me.

I went to my local Walgreens (Oakleaf – Jacksonville, FL) this morning. They would not take the Manufacturerโ€™s coupon for makeup remover because they insisted that the coupon states โ€œAlmay Cosmetic Productsโ€ and that makeup remover doesnโ€™t fall under that cateogory. It doesnโ€™t help that the picture on the coupon only shows makeup so it helped reiterate the managerโ€™s point. The register wouldn’t even take it automatically which is what caused the manager to look into it. Also, the store coupon states โ€œLimit one per customer per offerโ€ which according to the manager, only allows the customer to use one for the deal so it is a savings of $2.00 and not $4.00

Like several people have mentioned their ad says buy one get one 50% off COSMETICS and shows a picture of the makeup remover….It’s also found in the cosmetics section. I would have questioned this. Their computers allow their walgreen’s coupons to apply each deal several times….So your only using 1 offer, it is just applying to each product purchased ๐Ÿ™‚ This is their fault that their computers are programmed this way. ALL my coupons scanned without any problems yesterday…which is odd.

Christie March 7, 2013 at 4:31 pm

Yes and the makeup remover being considered a cosmetic is something I have called Almay about in the past before posting. They also confirmed that it’s considered a cosmetic and it’s even often pictured in Almay insert coupons for cosmetics and shows up under cosmetics on their website.

Anne March 7, 2013 at 1:45 pm

Just a thought… In the ad picture that Christie has provided above, Walgreens has a photo of the make up remover tub listed as a “cosmetics” item. I would think it would be hard to refuse the q verbage if they have it pictured in the ad. I imagine they can do whatever they want though… I don’t know if that is what Almay has intended for the coupon. You could show them the ad and point that out, especially if they are accusing you of nefarious activities… ๐Ÿ™‚

Mine all scanned fine. I got 3 of the sticks and 3 of the wipes. I think the issue is you have to 1) scan the IVC book first and 2) have something else in your purchase to cover the small overage otherwise the 5/2 MQ will beep.

Reply

Kim March 7, 2013 at 8:42 pm

I have never had the cashier scan the IVC coupon twice-they always say it can only be used once.

I found out something really helpful tonight. I went to Wags to purchase makeup remover wipes; I own so much makeup I didn’t want to stock up on those but I’m always running low on wipes because I wear it everyday. Well, I bought the small 80ct canisters with the pink $4.99 suggested retail on there and the coupon scanned perfectly fine. I did another transaction with the same 80ct canister that did NOT have the pink sticker on it and the coupon beeped and said invalid. The manager was nice enough to push it through since my first transaction worked fine, but I looked at the receipt later and it was the same product, but it was ringing up with different upc codes and product names. The ones with the pink sticker were also $5.49 instead of $5.99 like their non-pink sticker counterparts. I did have to buy something to cover overage also.

The cashier I had today would not accept the $5/2 Q on the eye makeup remover and THEN she manually entered the $2 wags q as a $2 mfr q on the 2 mascara i still bought. Tried to tell me that Walgreens IVCs are ALWAYS only good for one item in one purchase….so I asked for a mgr. the mgr was almost just as unhelpful but she did know how to scan a walgreens q. I was SO unhappy with how I was treated just for having coupons….and for knowing the coupon policy when they did not! Totally not worth it for cheap mascara!

Call the 800 number on your receipt. If you read above what I posted, the same thing happened to me. I called the 800 number and the store manager called me back today and is mailing me a gift card to cover the difference and a few dollars extra for the inconvenience. I’ve never called before but I was just so frustrated about the whole thing. I did make sure to let the store mgr know that I by no means want to get anyone in trouble but that I just wanted to rectify the situation. He was very kind!
